1 Cisco AMP for Endpoints Installation Guide Complete step-by-step instructions for uninstalling Symantec Endpoint Protection client and installing Cisco AMP for Endpoints Connector Windows and macos environments RUTGERS, ENGINEERING COMPUTING SERVICES

4 Uninstalling Symantec Endpoint Protection (If you do not have a previous Symantec product installed, skip this step.) Download and run the Symantec CleanWipe Tool: 1. Click here to download the CleanWipe Tool. 2. Open or Save the CleanWipe14.zip compressed folder. 3. Select the CleanWipe folder. 4. Extract all files from the CleanWipe.zip compressed folder. 5. Run the CleanWipe.exe file. 6. Follow the onscreen instructions and select Client Software, Windows LiveUpdate and Management Servers from the product selection list. 2

5 7. On the next screen, uncheck Do not prompt for reboot if you would like to be prompted for permission to restart to finish the process. 8. This process may take several minutes and will auto resume after a reboot if necessary. 3

6 Installing Cisco AMP for Endpoints Connector (Faculty and staff only, for University-owned equipment) Download and run AMP for Endpoints: 1. Click here to download the AMP Installer. 2. If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and then click Continue. 3. The Default installation destination is C:\Program Files\Cisco\AMP 4. Click on Install. 5. When the Installation has completed click Next. 4

7 6. Check the Box to create a desktop shortcut if desired. 7. Click Close. 8. AMP will launch and display the status as Connected. 5

8 Installing Immunet (For personal equipment that is not owned by Rutgers) Download and run Immunet: 1. Click here to download the Immunet Installer. 2. If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and then click Continue. 3. The Default installation destination is C:\Program Files\Immunet. 4. Click on Install. 5. When the Installation has completed click Next. 6. Check the Box to create a desktop shortcut if desired. 7. Check the Box to initiate a FlashScan if desired. 8. Click Close. 9. Immunet will launch and display Status of last scan and updates. 6

10 Uninstalling Symantec Endpoint Protection (If you do not have a previous Symantec product installed, skip this step.) 1. Click the Symantec Endpoint Protection client icon on the menu bar, and then click Uninstall. 2. Click Uninstall again to begin the uninstallation. 3. When you are prompted, authenticate with your Mac's administrative user name and password. 4. Once the uninstallation completes, click Restart Now. If you are having trouble uninstalling Symantec with the directions above, please try the following instructions: Click here to download the uninstaller. The file can be found at the bottom of the page under the Download Files section. To install the Symantec Uninstaller 1. Copy the file SymantecUninstaller.pkg.tgz to the Mac client computer. 2. Double-click to extract the archive file. 3. Double-click SymantecUninstaller.pkg and follow the prompts. 4. Authenticate with your administrative password when prompted. The Uninstaller is placed in the folder /Applications/Symantec Solutions. To uninstall Symantec Endpoint Protection for Mac 1. Copy the file SymantecUninstaller.app.tgz to the Mac client computer. 2. Double-click to extract the archive file. 3. Double-click on the Symantec Uninstaller, select Symantec Endpoint Protection, and click Uninstall. 4. Authenticate with your administrative password when prompted. 8

11 Installing Cisco AMP for Endpoints Connector (Faculty and staff only, for University-owned equipment) Download and run AMP for Endpoints: 1. Click here to download the AMP Installer for Mac. 2. Run the PKG file to initiate the installation. 3. The package will determine if Cisco AMP can be installed, click Continue. 9

12 4. Accept the EULA and continue. 10

13 5. Click Install. 6. You will be prompted to enter your credentials to allow the installation. 11

14 7. Upon completion you may be notified "System Extension Blocked"; you will need to enable the application in System Preferences: To enable the application if you received the aforementioned notification, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy. Toward the bottom of this window you will be able to click Allow to enable Cisco AMP for Endpoints Connector. 12

16 Installing Avira (For personal equipment that is not owned by Rutgers) Download and run Avira: 1. Click here to Download the Avira installer. 2. Double-click to run the installer. 3. If a Security Window opens, click Open to allow the installer to progress. 4. Click Accept and Install. 5. Enter your account information to allow the installation. 6. The Avira installer will download the remaining components for installation and continue to install. 7. If you receive a message "System Extension Blocked" click on Open Security Preferences. 14

17 8. Click Allow to approve the Avira Kernel extension to run. 9. The installation is now complete and you can close this window. 15
