5 Product data Stainless steel submersible bore well pumps Introduction Submersible bore well pumps for 4" wells (DN mm), " (DN mm), 8" (DN mm) and " (DN 2 mm) are constructed completely out of stainless steel AISI 4 (stainless steel AISI material available on request). Sized for connection to the motor according to NEMA standards up to 8" motor joining. Delivery casing with builtin nonreturn valve. Impellers: Radial flow impellers 4 : WA, W2A, WA, W5A : J, J, J, J7, J7A, J, J24, JH, JH, J8H Mixed flow impellers 4 : W8A, W4A : W7, W, W4, W 8 : W77, W5 : W5, W, W25. Connection: Screwed pipe connection with NPT thread as standard. BSP thread pipe connection are available on request. Special versions made of stainless steel AISI are available for applications involving aggressive liquids. Curve conditions The conditions below apply to the curves shown the following pages. General Tolerances in accordance with ISO, Annex A. The motors used for the measurement are standard motors. Test results with clean cold water, without gas content. Measurements have been made with airless water at a temperature of 8 F. Head and power values valid for liquids with density ρ =, kg/dm³ and kinematic viscosity ν = max mm²/s ( cst). When pumping liquids with a density higher than that of water, motors with correspondingly higher outputs must be used. The QH curves apply to a rated motor speed of 4 min ¹. The performance curves are inclusive of possible losses such as nonreturn valve losses. A safety margin of + 2 feet is recommended for the NPSH value. 4 curves QH: The curves are inclusive of valve and inlet losses at the actual speed. Power curve: The power curve shows pump power input at the actual speed for one stage. Efficiency curve: p% shows pump stage efficiency., 8 & curves QH: The curves are inclusive of valve and inlet losses at the actual speed. Operation without nonreturn valve will increase the actual head at nominal performance by 2 to. feet. NPSH: The curve is inclusive of suction interconnector and shows required inlet pressure. Power curve: The power curve shows pump power input at the actual speed for one stage. Efficiency curve: p% shows pump stage efficiency. 5

8 Features and benefits Stainless steel submersible bore well pumps Meeting all your water pumping needs The ubi J & W series range of submersible pumps comprises a large variety of models suitable for 4,, 8 & " bore well. With flow range up to 475 USgpm and head range up to 22 feet. There is a ubi stainless steel pump available for every specified duty point within this range. Material & design for wear & corrosion resistance Submersible pumps made out of materials other than stainless steel can run very well in cold, clean & clear water. However ground water contains abrasives like sand which can quickly wear out both the pump & motor. ubi has hence designed & developed the J & W series pumps which are made completely out of high grade stainless steel & rubber of premium quality to ensure that the suspended particles do not wear out the pump. All ubi J & W series pumps are made entirely of stainless steel AISI 4 (DIN W. Nr..4). For particularly aggressive liquids pumps are available in extra high grade stainless steel AISI (DIN W. Nr..4). For handling slightly contaminated water such as oil containing water we can offer all rubber parts made of Viton as an option. As shown in adjoining pie chart for a typical ground water applications the initial installation cost would work out 5%, maintenance cost over the lifespan would be another % and energy cost will be 8% of the total cost incurred by the customer for owning & operating the pump over its entire life span. The octagonal rubber bearings and built in sand protection shields are designed to ensure that sand is removed from the pump and motor by the water that is being pumped. 10 Design features Stainless steel submersible bore well pumps J & W Nonreturn valve All pumps are equipped with a reliable nonreturn valve which prevents back flow in connection with pump stoppage. Furthermore, the short closing time of the nonreturn valve means that the risk of destructive water hammer is reduced to a minimum. The valve casing is designed for optimum hydraulic properties, to minimize the pressure loss across the valve and thus contributes to the high efficiency of the pump. Bearings with sand channels All bearings are waterlubricated and have a squared shape enabling sand particles, if any, to leave the pump together with the pumped liquid. Stop ring The stop ring prevents damage to the pump during transport and in case of upthrust in connection with startup. The stop ring, which is designed as a thrust bearing, limits axial movements of the pump shaft. The stationary part of the stop ring is secured in the upper intermediate chamber. The rotating part is fitted above the split cone. Inlet strainer The inlet strainer prevents particles over a certain size from entering the pump.
