Yet many fexibe endoscopes impose exacty this type of imitation by forcing their operators to use counterintuitive defection mechanisms. KARL STORZ answers this chaenge by offering a choice of defection mechanisms: either positive or contrapositive. With positive (or ogica ) defection, a downward movement of the ever mechanism causes an upward movement of the endoscope tip, and vice versa. Reverse this orientation by choosing the contrapositive mechanism: a downward movement of the ever mechanism now causes a downward movement of the endoscope tip. Either way, a simpe fexion of the thumb on the defection ever sweeps the endoscope tip into some of the most chaenging areas of the anatomy, such as the ower poe cayces of the kidney. Additionay, the intuitive design means you wi never have to strugge to distinguish up from down or down from up.
