1 DPS Telecm Yur Partners in Netwrk Alarm Management Techn Knwledge Paper Hw t Setup an IP Camera Image Receiver n TMn If yu re attempting t setup T/Mn t capture and view a live feed r still images frm an IP Camera (like the SiteMn) and view them using TmnGFX, these are the steps yu must take t cnfigure yur equipment This techn knwledge paper can help yu if: Yu need t cnfigure yur T/Mn t capture images frm an IP Camera Setup a NetGuardian alarm pint as a trigger t begin capturing images frm an IP Camera View images captured by an IP Camera using T/Mn GFX Quick Reference Chart (Details fr each step can be fund in the Trubleshting Checklist starting n the next page)

2 DPS Telecm Yur Partners in Netwrk Alarm Management Trubleshting Checklist Techn Knwledge Paper Nte: T setup and view images r feeds frm yur IP Camera n yur TMnGFX GUI, yu will first need the Image Receiver Jb cnfigured n yur TMn. If yu dn t have this sftware mdule, please cntact the DPS Sales team at First, we must Define LAN Prt Parameters fr the SiteMn IP Camera Find an available (halted) jb abve 50. Press E fr E(dit. In the Prt Usage field, select Image Receiver and press Enter. Frm here, yu may cnfigure the rest f the parameters fr the device by highlighting them with the arrw keys and pressing Enter. Remember: when in dubt, use the defaults Time Out: The amunt f time, in millisecnds, that the TMn will wait fr a respnse frm the camera. Descriptin: Enter smething in this field describing the device being used n the prt. Packet Hld Timer: The number f millisecnds that the TMn will hld an utging packet that was suppsed t g t an IP that hasn t respnded. Packets are nly held while the image receiver is in the prcess f receiving an image; this prevents utging packets frm interfering with receiving images, as the device is UDP and des nt guarantee delivery. Maximum Archive Space: Enter the amunt f space yu re willing t allcate fr images and vide taken by the camera between 1 and 1000 megabytes. (Each image is apprximately 8 kilbytes. Allwing fr rughly 125,000 images at 1000 megabytes f archive space.) Stp Receive n Full: Enter Y t stp recrding images if space is nt available r N t allw the TMn t delete the ldest image t allw fr the newest ne.

3 DPS Telecm Yur Partners in Netwrk Alarm Management Techn Knwledge Paper Full Capacity Alarm: Assigns an internal alarm when the hard drive becmes full, this way yu ll receive ntificatin when the hard drive reaches capacity and the camera either stps recrding images r begins t delete ld nes. Set Alarm Cnditin: Input a number indicating at what percentage f maximum archive space used yu wish t be ntified that yu are running lw n archival space. If the alarm cnditin is 80% and yu have a maximum archive value f 1000 Mbytes, then the alarm will ntify yu when yu have 200 Mbytes f space remaining. 2 Nw that we have defined the jb, we need t Assign a Data Cnnectin fr the SiteMn. Press F6 fr Data Cnnectin Then Press F1 t reach the Ethernet TCP Prt Definitin screen. Use the arrw keys t scrll dwn t the next available line Press TAB t select UDP Press ENTER and type 6005 in the Prt field Press ENTER again, mving yu t the Descriptin field, and prvide a descriptin fr yur IP Camera s data cnnectin. Press ENTER again until yur cursr is at the beginning f the next line and press F8 t save the cnnectin infrmatin, which will take yu back t the Data Cnnectin assignment screen. Press TAB t select yur newly created data cnnectin and yu will see it assigned t the jb yu created in the step abve. 3 Nw we must Cnfigure TmnGFX fr Viewing SiteMn Recrdings s yu can view yur live IP Camera ftage and still images. Open TmnGFX and select Edit Mde. Add an icn r use an existing ne. Right click n the icn yu ve chsen and select Assign URL/IP fr SiteMn IP Camera and yu will see the fllwing.

Nte: If yu ve defined a trigger fr the device, this trigger will determine when a snapsht/archived image is taken. Mtin detectrs and dr cntact sensrs wrk particularly well fr triggering snapshts f peple entering a site. Fr mre infrmatin n triggers, see the step belw r cnsult yur hardware manual. If yu d like t bth view the live feed and archive images, yu ll have t set up separate icns fr each functin.

Lgin t the web-brwser interface f the IP Camera Select Edit Then select Trigger. Fr Transfer Methd, input TMn. Fr Server IP, input the IP Address f the TMn. Under Prt, input the prt number yu used in Step 2 (Assign a data cnnectin) abve. Nte: If the trigger type is nt the ECU Dr alarm pint #17, yu can use the same trigger fr multiple events. Fr example, if the trigger is ging t be anther alarm input n a NetGuardian, d the fllwing: 1. Make sure the NetGuardian has the latest firmware. 2. Set a NetGuardian ntificatin type as Ech, phne/dmain set as , then the IP Address f the Camera. (Display 1, pint 36 is a sft relay that will tggle when we perfrm SNMP set t it. 3.
