3 The Edge We are delighted to introduce The Edge, a new 8.5M funded project which runs until July 2018 and focusses on: Skills Support for the Workforce Support to 2,500 employed individuals aged 16+ with 1,500 progressing onto an apprenticeship, higher accredited learning or within work Skills Support for the Workforce Priority Sectors Delivery of training units at Level 3 or above in the following sectors; nuclear, advanced manufacturing, transport / logistics / visitor economy, land based / agri-services, construction, health and social care. Apprenticeship Services Increase number of apprentices from 2015 by 20% (increase of 1,000 starts per year) The Edge is a collaboration of Further Education Colleges, the University of Cumbria and training providers such as Gen2, led by College. Through The Edge Gen2 are delighted to be able to offer a range of funded training to support the skill needs of qualifying Cumbrian SME s. Supported courses are detailed within this booklet. 9 Health Example and Courses Safety Level 2 Award in Legionella Awareness To provide delegates with understanding of the health effects of legionnaire s disease, preventative control measures, legislation and codes of practice. This qualification is designed for those delegates who work in environments where legionella growth is a risk and wish to gain a nationally recognised qualification. 1 day Code 601/2972/4 Gen2 Skills Centre COSHH Awareness To give delegates the skills and knowledge to recognise the risks associated with hazardous substances and how to control them. Delegates who work in an environment where coming into contact with hazardous substances is likely ie manufacturing, cleaning, healthcare, office etc. 1 day Code 600/1952/9 Gen2, Furness or Level 2 Award in Risk Assessment To introduce the principles of risk assessment, why risk assessments are necessary, legal requirements and simple processes for carrying out a risk assessment. Delegates who work in any environment who need to be more risk aware by raising their knowledge of risk in the workplace and basic things they can do to control it. 1 day Code 600/5826/2 Gen2, Furness or PAT Testing To give delegates information and practice to enable them to safely carry out testing of portable electrical equipment. Delegates who carry out the testing of portable electrical equipment. This qualification is aimed at those who have not previously completed a wiring regs training course or gained the qual prior to Electrical crafts person s who require a qualification to the 17th Edition IEE regs. Spreadsheet Software To provide delegates with the ability to use a software application designed to record data and present information This qualification is designed for delegates with an intermediate level of knowledge looking to enhance their understanding 4 days 2 day Gen2, Furness or Gen2, Furness or Code Code J/502/4626 Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment To provide assessors with a range of assessment methods including discussions, learner statements, observations and questioning. This qualification is intended for assessors who assess occupational competence in and individual s work environment. Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment To provide those who are new to assessment with an understanding of assessment principles and practices of assessment. 11 Award in Facilities Management To provide delegates with knowledge and understanding to develop facilities management competencies backed by broader leadership skills. Delegates who are considering a move into facilities management or have some operational experience and want to consolidate their knowledge and skills. up to 6 months Code 600/5686/1 Gen2 Skills Centre Certificate in Team Leading Principles To enable delegates to develop their knowledge and understanding of a team leading role, resulting in the achievement of a nationally recognised qualification. This qualification is aimed at delegates who are new to team leading or looking to progress into this type of job role. up to 6 months Code 600/5176/0 Gen2, Furness or Certificate in Facilities Services To provide a broad understanding about the facilities and services industry with subjects including working at heights, safety and security, routine and non-routine waste and developing customer relationships. This qualification is intended for those who work or wish to work in the facilities industry. up to 6 months Code 600/5476/1 Gen2 and Lillyhall Skills Centres Certificate in Warehousing and Storage To provide individuals who would like to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to operate within a warehousing environment. Topics include health and safety, moving / handling and stock levels.
