3 Shopper Touchpoint INSTALLATION A. PRE-INSTALLATION CHECKLIST The Shopper Touchpoint Computer, STP, formerly known as the mymedia ConneXion or MMCX, is a Touch Screen Monitor with a built in Computer. Unpack Hardware and verify that all components are present. If not, contact: Technical Support at EXT 50 All software is preinstalled and configured for use. DO NOT INSTALL ANY SOFTWARE OR ALLOW THIS COMPUTER TO BE USED FOR SURFING THE WEB OR . THIS WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTEE AND RESULT IN DISRUPTED SERVICE AND ADDITIONAL COST. Check Power Outlet access. It is recommended that the STP be plugged into a UPS (800VA). If not, a Surge Protector must be used. Skipping this step will result in disruption of service and possible damage to the computer. Before mounting the Shopper Touchpoint Computer on the Kiosk Fixture, notice where all the connections are located on the side and back of the unit. Each connection will be labeled. Plug cables only into the port labeled for that purpose. B. Kiosk Assembly Steps (1) Before Attaching the computer to the Kiosk stand, attach the headphone cable to the cable restraint leaving enough slack to allow end to be plugged into computer after mounting (Unit shown with computer in place for illustration purposes). (2) Computer mount plate may already be attached to bracket. If not, use included screws. 3
4 (3) Have someone hold the computer in place while you attach the complete assembly to the Kiosk Stand with included screws (small screwdriver supplied in shipping container). Ensure that computer is securely attached before proceeding to next step. (4) Remove all of the back panel mounting screws on one side to provide access for installing computer power supply. (5) Pull one side of back panel out far enough to allow monitor power supply transformer to be inserted near the bottom while holding the end that plugs into the back of the computer above the shelf then reattach back panel mounting screws. 4
5 (6) Complete the assembly by mounting the product scanner to the Velcro strips behind scanner label and position receipt printer on shelf. Connect scanner and printer to their marked ports on the right-back of computer. Connect all power and communications cables as per instructions in step C below. (7) Completed assembly. C. Cable Connections Plug Surge Protected Power Strip into a Wall Outlet that is not turned off at night. Make sure Power is OFF. DO NOT turn on power until step D. Plug Shopper Touchpoint Computer into Power Strip Plug Mouse into USB port on Left side of computer. Plug Keyboard into USB port on Left side of computer. Plug Headphones or speakers into green port on right-side of the back of computer Plug Scanner into port on right-side of the back of computer. If your unit comes with a ticket printer, plug it into port labeled. ALL STP PARTS YOU HAVE RECEIVED SHOULD NOW BE CONNECTED. 5
6 D. POWER UP SEQUENCE Turn Power Strip On NOTE - If for any reason this computer has to be powered off, or the power is interrupted, it will automatically recover once power has been restored. If the Touch Screen responds correctly, unplug the Keyboard and Mouse and store for troubleshooting. E. SIMPLE TROUBLESHOOTING Computer will not boot Check all connections and verify that there is power coming from the Power Strip. Press the ON/OFF button on the side of the STP. Stopping/Starting the STP Software and Computer If you need to shut down the STP computer, you have 2 options: Press Shift+F12 on the keyboard. This will exit STP and take you to the Windows desktop. You may then shutdown windows normally by Start/Shut Down/Turn Off. Or from the main screen (not the attract screen) simply press or click your store s name in the upper right corner of the screen. When the password prompt appears, enter You will then be in the customer settings screen, where you can click on the Go to Windows, Shutdown Windows, or Restart Windows buttons. Touch Screen Calibration The Touch Screen action can be calibrated if necessary by running the calibration program. Use either method described above to exit the STP software. Once the Software has stopped you will be at the desktop screen. Touch with your finger or Click with your mouse on the Start button in the lower-left corner of the screen. (If, after plugging in the mouse, the curser does not move on the screen, you will need to reboot your computer after plugging in the mouse and then restart the alignment instructions after the MMCX program is running.) Then Touch or Click Programs IdeaCom Touch Screen IdeaCom Calibration. The Calibration Program will present a screen with a blinking target and ask you to touch and hold your finger on the target until it beeps or stops blinking. This is repeated for a total of nine different points on the screen. After the last one stops blinking, the program exits and your screen is calibrated. When completed double-click the MMCX Icon on the screen to re-start the Software. Tech Support A tech support site has been setup for the most common problems.
