This printer is the replacement for the InfoPrint Color This new color laser printer offers faster printing speeds of up to 30 pages per minute (ppm) 1 for both color and monochrome printing on letter media and up to 28 ppm 1 on A4 media. Other benefits of this new printer include: Smaller size and weight than previous color printers Eco Mode and Quiet Mode settings will help decrease energy consumption and printing noise Wireless model that includes the b/g/n standard, eliminating the need for extra networking cables 1 Exact print speeds vary depending on document complexity, system configuration, software applications, driver, and printer status. 2 Planned availability dates May 29, 2009 July 17, 2009: For dw2 models July 17, 2009: For Taiwan printers Description InfoPrint Solutions Company InfoPrint Color 1834 is the replacement for the InfoPrint Color 1634 workgroup printer. This new color laser printer offers faster printing speeds of up to 30 pages per minute (ppm) letter size and 28 ppm A4 size for both color and monochrome printing. The time to first print is as fast as 9.5 seconds. Optional 550-sheet drawers and a 2,000-sheet drawer are available. Maximum input capacity is 3,750 sheets. Output capacity for all models is 300 sheets. Memory All models have one slot for additional SDRAM memory. Memory options for the printer include 256 MB, 512 MB, or 1024 MB memory DIMMs. All models have one slot for flash memory with a 256 MB flash memory option available. Network connections All models include 10/100BaseTX Ethernet as standard. Some models include wireless Ethernet as standard. The wireless models and internal wireless feature allows the printer to be connected directly to a wireless LAN. This supports the IEEE b, g, and n draft 2.0 standards. Draft 2.0 refers to the version of the not-yet-ratified IEEE n standard. Usage rates The maximum monthly usage for the InfoPrint Color 1834 is 85,000 impressions. InfoPrint Solutions Company does not recommend printing to the monthly maximum on a consistent basis. 3 InfoPrint Color 1834 has five toner darkness levels for color and monochrome. The default setting is level 4. When printing in color, level 5 is equal to level 4. Refer to the table below. Font support The InfoPrint Color 1834 printer resident fonts include support for following: Emulation Number of scalable fonts Number of bitmapped fonts PCL PostScript PPDS 39 5 Additional fonts can be downloaded to the printer RAM, optional flash card, or hard disk. PCL emulation supports both scalable and bitmapped downloadable fonts. PostScript emulation supports only downloadable scalable fonts. Included on the CD-ROM shipped with the printer are screen fonts to match the printer's resident scalable fonts. The CD also includes downloadable fonts for Hebrew and Arabic. Features The printer supports the following features: Wireless features not available in India, Korea, Malaysia, and PRC. Accessibility by people with disabilities For hardware offerings The following features support use by people with disabilities: Controls and latches are operable with one hand and minimal dexterity. Keys are discernible by touch without activating them. The display, controls, latches, and levers are accessible to someone in a wheel chair. Color is used as an enhancement for conveying information, as well as an additional method of distinguishing between buttons, controls, and latches. The Eco Mode optimizes printer settings to minimize the environmental impact while Quiet Mode significantly reduces acoustics. InfoPrint is a registered trademark of Ricoh Co., Ltd. 6

7 Eco Mode The Eco Mode optimizes printer settings to minimize the environmental impact. Eco Mode allows customers to configure the printer to minimize energy consumption, especially when not printing, and to reduce the amount of paper consumed when printing. Eco Mode settings are: Off Settings or parameters that were changed when other modes (Energy, Energy/ Paper, or Paper) were selected (see below) are returned to their factory default states. This mode will support performance claims for the product. Energy The printer will be configured to be ecologically sensitive with respect to energy use. Choose this mode if interested in minimizing energy use, especially when not printing. The user may also trade time to first page (TTFP) performance (but not the fidelity of the print job) for ecological sensitivity. The follow settings are affected on the printers: Power saver is set to one minute Operator panel backlight is turned off while in power saver Upon receiving a print job, engine motors are not ramped up prior to the job being ready to actually print Energy/Paper Includes all of the settings associated with Energy mode plus duplex printing is set as the device default (if equipped). Paper Duplex printing is set as the device default (if equipped). Quiet Mode Quiet Mode setting Off The parameters that are changed when "On" is selected (see below) are returned to their factory default state. This mode will support performance claims for the product, and is intended for all document types. On Printer will be configured to run in a reduced noise mode. Primarily, the user is trading performance for quieter operation. This mode is best suited for text and line graphics documents. The following parameters are affected: Process speed is reduced Beeps are disabled or minimized (key press, alarms, and so on) Some slight print differences from full speed may be visible The driver photo quality setting may override quiet mode and increase process speed for best quality Planning information Customer responsibilities These printers are designed as a customer setup unit (CSU). 8 Installation and configuration of the printer and features by following the installation instructions, including: Installing and maintaining cables Loading print media and clearing jams Performing low-level problem determination Ordering and installing supplies and consumables Working with InfoPrint Solutions Technical Support to complete low-level problem determination including: Downloading and installing microcode updates as directed by the InfoPrint Solutions Technical Support Center Replacing defective features that were installed as part of the customer setup process It is the customer's responsibility to order and maintain an adequate inventory of toner cartridges and maintenance supplies. Cable orders No attachment cables are required for this feature. Supplies No supplies are required with the machine order. InfoPrint Color 1834 is shipped with 4,000-impressions 3 black print cartridge and 4,000-impressions 3 CMY print cartridges. Refer to the table below for replacement print cartridges. It is the customer's responsibility to order and maintain an adequate inventory of toner cartridges and maintenance supplies. An impression is defined as one printed side of a sheet. A duplex sheet would consists of two impressions. ISO/IEC is a method for the determination of toner cartridge yield for color printers and multifunction devices. The approximate average yields are not a warranty or guarantee of minimum life, and are provided to assist in initial supplies planning. Actual usage should be used to establish the supply's life in the end user's application. Many factors (for example, print coverage per page, machine settings, paper type and size, and environmental conditions) can affect supply life. Supply warranties are only for defects in materials and workmanship at the time of shipment and installation. They are not for print count life or normal wear and tear, nor for any print count minimum. Contact your place of purchase for warranty return instructions. InfoPrint Solutions Company is committed to environmentally conscious programs for printer supplies. A collection program for used printer cartridges has been established and return instructions are included in the supply item packaging, with free return shipping. 10 Terms and conditions Warranty period Twelve months Warranty service If required, InfoPrint Solutions Company provides repair or exchange service depending on the types of warranty service specified for the machine. InfoPrint Solutions Company will attempt to resolve your problem over the telephone, or electronically via an InfoPrint Solutions Company Web site. You must follow the problem determination and resolution procedures that InfoPrint Solutions Company specifies. Scheduling of service will depend upon the time of your call and is subject to parts availability. If applicable to your product, parts considered Customer Replaceable Units (CRUs) will be provided as part of the machine's standard warranty service. Service levels are response time objectives and are not guaranteed. The specified level of warranty service may not be available in all worldwide locations. Additional charges may apply outside InfoPrint Solutions Company's normal service area. Contact your local InfoPrint Solutions Company representative or your reseller for country- and location-specific information. This product is covered by the following types of service. Customer Replaceable Unit Service and On-site for other selected parts. CRU: InfoPrint Solutions Company provides replacement CRUs to you for you to install. CRU information and replacement instructions are shipped with your machine and are available from InfoPrint Solutions Company upon your request. CRUs are designated as being either a Tier 1 or a Tier 2 CRU. Tier 1 CRU: Installation of Tier 1 CRUs is your responsibility. If InfoPrint Solutions Company installs a Tier 1 CRU at your request, you will be charged for the installation. Tier 2 CRU: You may install a Tier 2 CRU yourself or request InfoPrint Solutions Company to install it, at no additional charge. Based upon availability, CRUs will be shipped for next-business-day delivery. InfoPrint Solutions Company specifies, in the materials shipped with a replacement CRU, whether a defective CRU must be returned to InfoPrint Solutions Company. When return is required, (1) return instructions and a container are shipped with the replacement CRU and (2) you may be charged for the replacement CRU if InfoPrint Solutions Company does not receive the defective CRU within 15 days of your receipt of the replacement.
