2 Ma n u a l In t r o d u c t i o n This manual only applies to CD302 and CDS302 Variable Speed Drives which are dedicated to Maneurop VSD compressors and Performer VSD compressors for commercial applications. Flashing a Danfoss Variable Speed Drive (VSD) is usually done to upgrade the power card and/or the control card when a new software version is available. The flashing process requires a careful operation and shall be done by experienced personnel only. The below steps must be followed in the given order to avoid data loss. Warnings Before starting the flashing operation, all customer parameter settings must be stored in the Local Control Panel (LCP). If updates are needed on both power card and control card, the power card must be upgraded first. At the end of the flashing operation, restore the original factory settings, and the customer parameter settings from the LCP will be necessary. System requirements A local Control Panel (LCP) A laptop with Windows 95 or more recent and with USB or COM1 (RS232) communication port RS485 converter (either USB -> RS485 or RS232 -> RS485) FlashOS software installed on the laptop 2 FRCC.ES.001.A1.02

3 Ma n u a l Step 1. : Download and install FlashOS software The laptop that will be used for the flashing process must have FlashOS software installed. This software can be downloaded and installed as following: Go to : Select VLT AutomationDrive Select VLT AutomationDrive FC 301 & 302 Select FlashOS Tools 1_25 Select [Open] Double-click on setup 1_25.exe. Follow the instructions for software installation. Select OK This screen appears FRCC.ES.001.A1.02 3

4 Manual Step 2. : Download update(s) The software updates to be installed on the VSD can be downloaded from the same address as the FlashOS software. Files with extension.ose are related to the control card. Files with extension.osx are related to the power card. Select VLT AutomationDrive Select CD 302 & AKD 102 Locate the required update file(s) under Software updates. Store the file(s) on the laptop. Step 3. : Store customer parameter settings in LCP The VSD contains customer specific parameter settings. The flashing process will erase all these settings. It s necessary to store all parameters in the LCP before flashing. They will be reloaded to the VSD after the flashing. Place the LCP on the VSD Stop the compressor by pushing [Off] key Press key [Main Menu] Go to parameter 0-50 LCP Copy Press key [OK] Select All to LCP Press key [OK] All parameter settings are being stored in the LCP as indicated by the progress bar on the LCP screen. When 100% is reached, press [OK] All VSD parameter settings are now safely stored in the LCP and will not be affected by the flashing process Detach the LCP from the VSD and store it safely away from the VSD during flashing. The flashing process can now be started 4 FRCC.ES.001.A1.02

5 Manual Step 4. : Connect the laptop to the VSD Connect the laptop to the RS485 converter (either USB -> RS485 or RS232 -> RS485) Connect the RS485 converter to terminals on the VSD Unplug all the I/O terminals or pull out the cables from terminals Bridge terminals 12(13)-37 if not yet done Disconnect any other VSD from the bus-lines. Only the VSD that must be updated shall be connected. FRCC.ES.001.A1.02 5

6 Manual Step 5. : Upgrade the VSD software (flashing process) Important: Ensure that the main supply voltage of the VSD can not be cut-off during the flashing process, as this may damage the card(s). Start the FlashOS software on the laptop. FlashOS will detect automatically the connected drive Select the software to be installed Select File / Open and select the.osx or.ose file. Start the flashing operation by pushing the button. The flashing process starts and may take up to 15 minutes. If updates are needed on both power card and control card, the power card must be upgraded first (with.osx file) and the control card afterwards (with.ose file). Step 6. : Restore factory settings After the flashing process, the factory settings must be restored. This can be done in two different ways: Option 1: Place back the LCP on the VSD Go to parameter initialisation Press key [Ok] and disconnect the main supply. When the VSD is off, switch on again the main supply. An alarm will appear and will disappear automatically after a few seconds. The factory settings are now restored. Option 2: Place back the LCP on the VSD Press and maintain simultaneously keys [Status], [Main Menu] and [Ok] on the LCP and switch off the main supply voltage (maintain the 3 keys pressed). Switch on again the main supply and release the 3 keys. The factory settings are now restored. 6 FRCC.ES.001.A1.02

7 Manual Step 7. : Restore customer parameter settings Finally, the customer parameter settings, as stored previously in the LCP before the flashing process, must be restored to the VSD. Press key [Main Menu] and go to parameter 0-50 LCP Copy Press key [OK] Select All from LCP Press key [OK] All customer parameter settings are now restored to the VSD Step 8. : Restore original system configuration Disconnect RS485 converter Remove the bridge between terminals 12(13)-37 if not needed for operation Connect other drives that were disconnected in step 4 if present. Connect I/O terminals or pull back in cables to terminals. The compressor can now be started again and used normally FRCC.ES.001.A1.02 7
