3 Chapter 1 General 1 Introduction This document is a manual instructing the user on how to operate the InkonDemand.com system to encode blank chips and smart cards at the customer site. The Chip Encoder is suitable for InkOnDemand chips and cards only, allowing the user to use cartridge ink on a wide variety of large format printers. 4 chapter 2 Installation Guide 2.1 Getting started Insert the USB cable into the computer on one side and into the encoder on the other side. 2.2 The following window will appear Note: If the computer does not recognize the new hardware downloaded from the InkonDemand website, follow this link: Press Run on VCP.exe, where it states: 4

5 chapter 2 Installation Guide 2.4 Download software Once driver is installed go to the Inkondemand.com website and download the software: inkondemand.com 5

6 chapter 2 Installation Guide 2.5 Application Installation Press Install, the application will install the driver and the software on your computer 2.6 The following window will appear 6

7 Installation Guide 2.7 Click on New User Registration 2.8 Register Fill in your account details, including and select printer. Make sure to type the correct dealer name. 7

8 Installation Guide 2.9 The serial number for your encoder automatically appears on your registration form, do not delete or erase this code. If it does not appear please contact your sales person Once you have completed the registration process, a screen will appear requesting your user name and password. 8

9 Installation Guide 2.11 Click on the Login icon Successful Registration: The the bottom of the window sceen will read Ready Server Connected and IOD Encoder connected If the USB cable is disconnected or the device is not recognized by the computer the following error will appear in the bottom of the window: No chip encoder connected 2.12 The following screen will appear 2.13 Installation was completed successfully 9

10 chapter 3 User Guide Chip users 3.1 Connect the Encoder to the computer via the USB connection go to the Inkondemand.com website and download the software: inkondemand.com Optional: Open the InkonDemand program Start application Ink on demand Encoder Application 3.2 Enter your user name and password 10

11 User guide 3.3 Select the Login button 3.4 The following window will appear Make sure that in the bottom of the window appears: Ready Server Connected In the printer field, select the required printer model, printer number and cartridge size. In the color field, select target cartridge color. In the machine field enter the required printer according to its assigned number (this field designated for operators with more than one machine in their site) 11

12 User guide 3.5 Smart card users for card users skip to section 3.12 Use Only the IOD version 2 chips.! Use the chips marked SEIKOPIC Do not use the chip in the picture below, since it is not marked SEIKOPIC 3.6 Connect the programing cable to the encoder (see picture below) 12

13 User guide 3.7 Connect the cable to the cartridge in the designated slot. 3.8 (Optional:) To encode the chip directly by using the chip slot: Insert the chip into the encoder slot facing forward (see illustration below). Ensure the chip is inserted in a balanced way to the bottom of the encoder 13

14 User guide 3.9 Select Encode new chip to encode the new chip 3.10 The encoding process was completed successfully If you encounter any problem in the encoding process or if the chip encoding has failed, please refer to the troubleshooting guide. You can use a golden-chip for back up or contact InkonDemand.com service support 14

15 User guide Smart Card Users 3.11 Connect the Encoder to the computer via the USB connection 3.12 Insert the plastic smart card into the Encoder so that the SIM is facing upright 3.13 Verify that this card was intalled correctly by viewing a green light flash in the upper left side of the encorder. 15

16 User guide 3.14 Select encode new chip Encoding process was completed successfully Returning the Smart Card onto cartridge Install the Smart card on cartridge To make sure that the card is placed correctly in its proper position, use the placement adapter (Jig) of the ink cartridge to stick the card into the cartridge with a double sided sticker 16

17 Dongle Installation Turn of the printer. 2. The kit includes encoded dongles accordingly to their colors 3. Open the printer in the ink boxes location 4. Disconnect the D-sub connector in the printer 5. connect the dongle from both sides with the appropriate color 6. reset the printer 7. verify the ink weight indicates properly 8. The dongle expire date can be monitor by the printer display If you need assitance with the encording process, please refer to the troubleshooting guide.
