2 Molex Device Bay Interconnection System Simplifying PC & Peripheral Installation and Upgrades Driven by customers needs, Compaq, Intel and Microsoft* are working with the computer industry to define an open industry specification called Device Bay that would significantly simplify PC system upgrades and provide flexibility to add a wide range of peripheral devices for enhanced capabilities. With Device Bay, a user would be able to insert a peripheral like a DVD drive directly into a PC without opening, re-booting or turning off the PC for true Plug-and-Play capability. Peripheral devices such as HDD, CD drives, modem, network adaptors and other electronic devices can be easily added to the system. Molex Device Bay Interconnection System Molex is supporting the industry needs for Device Bay interconnect components by offering sampling of early products for preproduction developments. The complete connector solution includes: a Host Receptacle for the PCB panel or backplane; a to be located in a removable device; a Signal Plug and Signal Cable Assembly pair for interconnection between the motherboard and the backplane; a Power Cable Receptacle to be terminated on a set of wires from the power supply; and a Unitized Bulkhead for direct attachment.
