2 DESCRIPTION: The Model 575 s used n general water/wastewater applcatons. The transmtter s offered n a standard non-cloggng snub nose end, flush daphragm or protected flush daphragm wth flange base for sewage or sludge type meda. The 575 seres s CSA approved for ntrnscally safe operaton when used wth an approved safety barrer. The sensor s desgned to provde the convenence of drect submergence n many types of lquds for quck, accurate and relable measurement. Wth stanless steel solaton daphragm (standard) and all 316 stanless steel housng, these sold state nstruments provde long lastng servce wth vrtually no mantenance. The 575 Seres transmtters ndcate the level of lqud by contnuously measurng hydrostatc pressure va ts sensng element, an on mplanted slcon semconductor chp wth ntegral Wheatstone brdge crcut. The pressure measurement s transmtted by a 4-20 ma output sgnal. Ths desgn, wth solaton daphragm for meda compatblty, provdes for excellent lnearty and repeatablty, low hysteress and long term stablty wth a precson accuracy at ±0.25% FS (BFSL) typcal. The transmtter s easy to nstall. Smply lower the unt nto a tank or vessel. All electroncs are mounted n the submersble 316 stanless steel housng and full pottng s also provded as an opton. A specal cable support bracket s also avalable to provde extra stablty when used wth longer cable lengths or when used n an agtated lqud. Optonal steel support cable s also avalable for use wth the support bracket. The transmtters are avalable calbrated for any span needed from 0-6 ps ( ft of water, 0-.4 bar, meters of water) to 300 ps (0-692 ft of water, 0-20 bar, meters of water). The transducer s offered as a standard 2 wre, 4-20 ma devce. To complete your lqud measurement and control system, consder the Model DDMC meter/controller or the complete Levelmate III system. The 575 transducer s manufactured n the Unted States under ISO 9001:2008 and meets ARRA. 8 Transmtter Installaton CAUTION: Remove power before nstallng or servcng. To nstall the Model 575 Transmtter, connect the surface end of the cable to the Ametek Model DDMC Meter Controller or other power source and ndcator. Suspend the transmtter nto a well or tank supported only by ts attached shelded electronc cable. Insure that the openng n the well or tank cover s large enough for possble future removal of the transmtter. Addtonal support to the transmtter s avalable wth an optonal factory nstalled cable support. The optonal cable support s recommended when usng longer lengths of cable or when suspendng the transmtter nto agtated lquds. The cable support provdes stran relef for the excess stress found under these crcumstances. See dagram of Model 575 Transmtter wth cable support usng factory or customer suppled and nstalled support cable. CAUTION - The cable grommet and support are specally nstalled by factory-traned personnel to nsure watertghtness. Any adjustment or removal of these tems may destroy the watertght feature thus exposng the transmtter to water seepage, an electrcal short and transmtter falure. Any adjustment or removal of the cable grommet or cable support vods the warranty. CAUTION - Waterproof cable should not be knked or ncked as ths would allow water nto the electroncs housng. Permanent damage wll result. (Never cut or splce the waterproof cable). The surface end of the cable s used as the system s atmospherc reference, ths end should not be sealed. Vent to dry temperature stable envronment. Model 575 wth Cable Support FACTORY OR CUSTOMER SUPPLIED AND INSTALLED SUPPORT CABLE WITH TIES SUPPORT AT REGULAR CABLE WITH INTERVALS TIES AT REGULAR INTERVALS Surge Or Lghtnng Protecton Surge or lghtnng protectors are avalable as optonal tems and are strongly recommended for protecton from secondary surges or lghtnng strkes. The unts are easy to nstall, are mantenance-free and respond n less than one nanosecond. Install n accordance wth the nstructons: 1. Lghtnng protecton devces should be placed as close to the nstrument as possble and wred n accordance wth Natonal Electrc Code n an approved watertght enclosure. 2. If the dstance between the meter and transmtter, or the meter and recorder s less than 100 feet, only 1 protector per lne may be used. 3. Use No. 10 AWG ground wre or better from protector to earth ground. 4. Provde a separate ground for each run of shelded cable or metal condut. 5. Keep the ground wre less than 1 foot long and te to a sutable ground rod or metal frame ground. Surge capablty s only as good as the groundng method. All ground connectons must be nstalled. 6. Install all protectors n weathertght enclosures. 7. Run sgnal lnes shelded and away from power lnes. 8. Wre accordng to the Electrcal Code. 9. When used for an ntrnscally safe nstallaton, only one LMA912 should be nstalled n the hazardous locaton. Do not substtute protector types. CAUTION - Ths or any nstallaton cannot protect aganst a drect lghtnng strke, or secondary strkes of suffcent magntude. Ametek cannot accept lablty for damage due to lghtnng or secondary surges. 10 OPTIONS AND ACCESSORIES Dsplay Meters, Surge Protectors, Juncton Boxes and Desccants DISPLAY METERS AND SYSTEMS Model DDMC Dgtal Meter/Controller Dual dsplay meter provdes power to the sensor wth alarm and 4-20 ma analog output optons. Standard panel mount housng or a NEMA 4X weathertght housng for feld mountng s avalable. The weathertght housng also provdes nternal mountng locatons for lghtnng and surge protectors. JUNCTION BOXES Model SBJ100 wth Reusable Desccant These boxes are used on long cable runs and provde qucker access to atmospherc reference. SBJ100 provdes a clean, dry enclosure wth an nternal, reusable desccant canster. BACK VIEW Back vew of SBJ100 juncton box that shows the reusable desccant canster. LEVEL MATE TM III Level Measurement System The complete LEVEL MATE III system ncludes a level sensor (varous models are avalable), cable and a meter/ controller all packaged n a NEMA 4X enclosure. Everythng s factory programmed for easy nstallaton and the LEVEL MATE III has an extended 2-year warranty. DESICCANTS An ntal desccant s suppled wth the SBJ100 and the LEVEL MATE III enclosure. The desccant canster s reusable wth vsble color change when the tme comes to replace the desccant. Insde vew of the NEMA 4X enclosure showng the desccant and optonal surge protectors. Unt s factory wred so that the user needs to connect power and sensor only. Dsposable n-lne cartrdges are also avalable for use wth sensors wth a separate vent tube only. NOTE: the n-lne cartrdges wll not ft n the SBJ100 juncton box. LIGHTENING AND SECONDARY SURGE PROTECTORS Lghtnng protecton unts are avalable to help protect systems and components from lghtnng and secondary surges. These LP unts are avalable n both 30 VDC (LMA912) for 24 VDC supply on exctaton/sgnal lnes and analog meter output lnes to protect the meter and/or the transmtter as well as 115 VAC (LMA918) and 230 VAC (LMA919) to protect the meter on AC power nput lnes.
