Third party verifications are an independent tick in the box, verifying either a product or a set of products compliance with a particular performance standard. The Excel Category 6 and Category 6 A systems are amongst very few systems on the market that carry both a Channel and Component Certification. Not all vendors offer this level of assurance, or maintain their verification annually, we encourage you to compare the Excel strength in this area with others in the market. 8 Excel System Overview Excel Voice Cabling Systems The Excel voice cabling system offers a range of cables for all types of applications and installation conditions, as well as a complete set of line jack units, box connections and RJ45 voice patch panels. VOICE We offer, from stock, a choice of multipair cables, manufactured to CW specification and suitable for internal and external applications, or Category 3 options for voice and low speed data applications. The Excel range of voice connectivity products meets all possible requirements from standard LJU s, high density RJ45 patch panels, through to 20 to 1380 pair box connections. Excel Cabinets and Enclosures Excel Wall Mounted Enclosures Excel wall mounted enclosures are available in a choice of 390mm, 500mm and 600mm depths. They are designed for the installation of both cabling and equipment and are ideal for use across a range of applications including local area networking (LAN) cabling and hardware, and the housing of security, audio and visual equipment. Each cabinet is designed with strength, ease of use and aesthetics in mind. 10 Excel System Overview Excel Intelligent Power Distribution Units Excel has developed a range of Monitored and Managed Power Distribution Units that allow you to measure, monitor and control a range of power and environmental conditions via the Local Area Network (LAN) using a standard web browser. The software and web browser are housed within the unit enabling a simple LAN connection without the requirement for any additional hardware or licensing costs. Features: Remotely monitor individual socket electrical load via LAN Embedded web server accessed via web browser Real time monitoring - Total current, individual socket current load, individual on/off state, system operating state, temperature/humidity, smoke, water and door - open/closed IEC 320 C13 & C19 or BS1363 socket connectors Audible and alerts Link units for single IP address control 16, 20 & 24 socket versions Vertical mounting within cabinet or to wall The Managed solution has the added benefit that it allows you to control, as well as monitor the PDU via the LAN. 11 without compromise. Excel Intelligent Power Distribution Units Configurations The Excel Intelligent PDU may be connected together in two configurations. This allows for one LAN connection, and therefore one IP address, to control multiple Intelligent PDUs. The first Intelligent PDU is designated as the Master and the subsequent are designated as Slaves. All Intelligent PDUs may act as either a Master or a Slave. Up to 9 slave Intelligent PDUs may be connected to the master. They may be connected in a Daisy Chain or radially from an Excel PDU Hub. Master Slave Slave Daisy Chain Up to a maximum of 10 Intelligent PDUs may be Daisy Chained together. Excel recommends that no more than 5 are connected in this manner due to the limitations of the communication protocol (RS485). The maximum length of each connection segment is 800m using a minimum of Excel Category 5e Cable and connecting hardware. The maximum length of the connection to the LAN is a channel of 100m in accordance with Ethernet application standards. Connection to LAN Connection to Slaves Radial connection with Excel PDU Hub The alternative method is to radially connect the Excel Intelligent PDUs with one acting as the Master. This method also allows up to 10 Intelligent PDUs together utilising one IP address on the network. The schematic below shows the layout. Similar to the Daisy Chain above the connections to each of the Slaves may be a maximum of 800m. The inclusion of a PDU Hub has the benefit of maintaining connectivity with remaining Intelligent PDUs in the case of a Slave Connection break. Core to the product range is a U shaped housing, manufactured from high quality, lightweight aluminium which is terminated with a 2 metre mains connection lead, with commando style and standard 3 pin plug options. A range of socket modules is available which snap into this housing quickly, easily and securely, without the need for tooling. The range of modules available enables users to mix and match socket styles to suit initial and more importantly changing connectivity or socket density requirements. To add to the flexibility of product choice and configuration, modules can be hot swapped at any time after initial installation. Simply detach devices connected to the module which need to be swapped, remove the original module and snap in the replacement. All other modules remain fully operational, reducing installation time, equipment down time, and extending the usable lifetime of the power strip unit itself.
