1 Central Florida FIRST LEGO League Help and Play Volunteer Sign Up Instructions Step 1 - Create a FIRST Account If you have never had a FIRST account (meaning you have never signed into a FIRST service online) then you will need to create an account. You can create an account via the FIRST Global Account Registration Service, which you can access here. If you already have an account, skip to Step 3 (new this season). Step 2 - Verify Your Address When you create a new FIRST account, you will receive a confirmation link in your that you must click to activate your account. The will come from accounts@firstinspires.org so be sure to check your spam or junk folder if you do not receive an . Step 3 - Complete Global Profile and Accept Terms Once you have verified your address, click the Login link at the top of the FIRST Inspires website. Enter your address as your username and the password you specified during registration. Once you have logged in, you will be prompted to complete your profile. It is important you answer every question accurately. At the very bottom of the Personal Information screen, you will see two checkboxes. Please read the FIRST Terms And Conditions and FIRST Youth Protection Policies. Once you have, check the boxes to agree and click Next. New This Season: You need to complete this step even if you have volunteered for an event before.
2 Step 4 - Access the Volunteer Information Matching System (VIMS) When you click the Next button, you will be redirected back to your Dashboard. Here you can click the Volunteer For An Event button to be redirected to the VIMS System. Step 5 - Sign Into the VIMS System Using the FIRST Account credentials you have created, sign into the VIMS System.
3 Step 6 - Accept the FIRST Volunteer Terms and Conditions You will be prompted to accept the FIRST Volunteer Terms and Conditions. Please read and accept the terms by clicking the checkbox at the bottom of the page. Then click OK Step 7 - Verify Profile Information After accepting the FIRST Volunteer Terms and Conditions, you will be directed to another profile page where you can verify and update any necessary information as well as specify an emergency contact. This information will be used to process your background check so please ensure it is accurate. Proceed through the corresponding pages. You will also be directed to another page where you can specify more information about yourself and your T-Shirt size. This information is required for the VIMS System but will ultimately not be used in this application. Step 8 - Start the Sign Up Process Once you have completed all of the necessary forms, you will be able to access the complete system. In the sidebar, click Volunteer Role Applications and then click the Apply for an Event button at the top of the screen.
4 Step 9 - Specify Event Search Parameters To find the correct event, you will be asked to indicate where you are searching. Check the FIRST LEGO League box and then select USA and Florida from the dropdown menus. You may alternatively enter your zip code. Then click Search Events. Step 10 - Select the Correct Event Depending on your search parameters, a list of events will come up. Press Select next the event your team will be attending that you wish to fill the Help and Play Volunteer Role for.
5 Step 11 - Sign Up as a Help and Play Volunteer In the available roles box, scroll down and select the Help and Play Volunteer role and then click the Add button. Check the date of the tournament when prompted about your availability. In the Time Availability/Comments Section WRITE YOUR TEAM #. If you do not specify a team number, your application may not be approved. Once you have finished, click the Apply for Selected Roles button. Step 12 - Proceed to Screening Once you have completed the application you will receive a confirmation that you have successfully completed the application. Next, you should be directed to complete background screening. If you are not, in the sidebar, select Background Screening Info. You will not be able to be assigned to the Help and Play Volunteer Role until your screening has completed. Once your screening is approved, a tournament administrator will assign you to a volunteer role where you will be needed most. You will receive another when your assignment is complete. Step 13 - Notify your Coach Once you have signed up and completed screening, inform your Head Coach to complete the tracking spreadsheet for the event so the Volunteer Coordinator can confirm a Help and Play Volunteer has been assigned.
