1 Using Turning Point and Clickers To setup your software for the first time, you will need Internet connectivity, access to your and your Administrator Password. Instructions for running a new version (version ) of Turning Point Clicker technology on Windows 10 machines with Office 2013 or Office 365. Model RCRF-01 of clickers were used for testing. After setup you can use the clickers with or without Internet access. A special note: this process is cumbersome but does work once you get through all the steps. The setup and use of the software includes three components: 1. Creating an account on the Turning Point Cloud 2. Downloading and installing the software 3. Using the software with or without Internet connectivity Creating an Account on Turning Point Cloud 1. A Turning Point cloud account must be setup and the software downloaded for long term storage of responses. a. Go to 1
2 b. Select Create Account c. On the entry screen enter your full ISU address and select Create Account d. A pop up screen will appear titled Important Information you can select Skip to get to the next screen e. The next screen will inform you that an has been sent to your ISU account for verification. f. The may take several minutes or up to an hour to show up in your . The will be from account@turningtechnologies.com 2
3 g. Select the link in the to confirm your account. h. The link will open a new window in your browser and ask you to enter your information. Complete the form and select Finish. i. The Turning Point system will ask you if you have a license code or device ID, ignore this and select Finish 3
4 j. On the next screen, select Proceed k. Once you have selected Proceed, you should receive another from Turning Point telling you that your account setup was successful. l. Yet another from Turning Point will be received asking you to verify your . Click on the link to ensure your account is setup. 2. Downloading the Turning Point Software a. Select from the Turning Point section the type of computer you have. For this install, I selected PC Install 4
5 b. Click Save File c. Once the file has been saved, go to your computers Download folder and double click on Turning Point Cloud Install.exe d. The install screen will appear, click through the install instructions e. Once the install is finished you will need to go to your start menu and find Turning Point Cloud 5
6 f. Open the Turning Point Cloud software loaded on the laptop/desktop. As the software opens it takes you to the web based service if you are connected to the Internet. g. Select the Region (default is North/South America), which is correct. You will then have to login again and be asked to set an offline password. IMPORTANT: You will need to set this if you want to use the software without an internet connection anytime in the future. 6
7 3. Using the Turning Point Software The software can be run with or without Internet connectivity. 3.1 Using without Internet Connectivity a. If you want to run without an Internet connection, be sure to turn off the wireless on your computer otherwise the system will try to find Internet connectivity. b. If you have wireless turned off and are not connected to the Internet, starting the Turning Point software provides the option to run the software offline. Only, if you setup an offline password on your cloud account will the software open offline without access to the Internet. c. The software appears as TurningPoint Cloud Dashboard. d. Select PowerPoint Polling the PowerPoint program opens and the Turning Point tab is available. e. Open a new PowerPoint, or a that has the polling programmed in it. f. The responses will be stored on your local computer. When you have Internet access at a later time, you can upload the offline responses to the Turning Point Cloud. 7
8 3.2 Using with Internet Connectivity* a. Make sure you have a good Internet Connection. b. Open Turning Point Cloud on your computer c. Login d. Click on PowerPoint Polling which will open a new blank PowerPoint e. Open your PowerPoint that has the polling options included f. Run the PowerPoint as usual. *When running with Internet connectivity, there may be a delay in opening and closing the polls. The delay time is based on your computer and internet connectivity.
