1 Navistools PointCloud Example 1 Instructions to set up Navistools Pointcloud example project and run it Copy the pointcloud data from our ftp site: ftp.profox.fi, User: profoxfi2 Password: zspkvh62 After downloading the data : 1. Make sure that You have installed Navisworks Simulate or Manage Download and install Navistools 2016 (ver ) 3. Download Example1 and Document folders and copy to C:\Navistools Start Navisworks 5. Start Navistools Poitcloud (Navistools tab, then cloud button) 6. Goto Settings tab, click Projects (icon on left) 7. Add Project (yellow + sign) 8. Name: Example1 9. Data Source: use.. and pick C:\Navistools2016\Example1\Example1_database.s3db 10. Master NWF/NWD: pick C:\Navistools2014\Example1\Example1.nwd 11. Point Cloud folder: pick C:\Navistools2014\Example1 12. Launch the project Example 1 by double clicking project name on a list 13. Settings-Tools icon button-launch Settings (A few more settings for specifying your image files and browser) 14. Add row (yellow + sign) 15. Filename extension:.jpg 16. Program: use.. and pick: C:\Navistools2014\Example1\Panorama_viewer.exe 17. Working directory: use.. and pick C:\Navistools2014\Example1 This is how You set up Navistools Pointcloud project. After setting the project up You can always go back to the specified project using PointCloud Project button and choosing the project from the list.

2 Navistools PointCloud Example 2 Now we are ready to start running the software and using the pointcloud data with design model (Navistools Pointcloud allows user to simultaneously manage large point cloud data sets and compare against new design model as this Example 1 shows) 18. Turn cones On (Point Cloud tab - Cone button) (Cones describe scanning positions) 19. Turn your links ON (Navisworks Home ribbon Links icon button) 20. Go to Top1 view to see the whole site then Go to Outside3 view in the model (Saved Viewpoints ) 21. Go back to Navistools PointCloud menu /Settings Set focal distance 5, inside check radius between (Focal distance is the distance between the camera position and where the system starts to load pointclouds; Inside chech radius is the radius of a circle where the systems looks after scan positions)

3 Navistools PointCloud Example Put Dynamic pointcloud option On (Point Cloud tab - cloud button) (Now you start navigating pointclouds with Dynamic mode ) 23. When navigation outside areas increase focal distance and inside check radius (use Outside Views)(Dynamic Mode use ) 24. Go back to Outside3 view 25. Turn Dynamic mode Off (Now You start using Static Mode) 26. Click one of the links above a cone (P01 for example, this is describing a scan position) with your right mouse button and then click select item containing link -> software flies You to that position and lets you view the surroundings of that position. Then You can pick another cone to observe that area etc, using Top1 makes easier to view all scan positions onsite. (You can modify the fly settings from Settings-Tool icon- Scan Position Settings) 27. Double click camera icon button-> system opens the panoramic photo of that scan position (With the next icon Launc Pointcloud ; you can also launch the pointcloud file in another software associated to this system) You can then try using Example2 in a similar way, create a new project using that data. Remember to turn Dynamic pointcloud option Off before changing project (Obs!, not applicable to Example 2)

4 Navistools PointCloud Example 4 Navistools Datamanager example In this part we learn how to run Navistools Datamanager ; Datamanager allows user to locate objects, search data, link data to a model and monitor progress of a site work or engineering work by using status colors 28. Start Navistools Datamanager, (first icon in Navistools ribbon ) change to Piping table (General is a default) 29. OBS! You may need to check that you are using the right database if not loaded (File-Data Sourcesdatabase name now has to be C:\Navistools2014\Example1\Example1_database.s3db This is how you change a project database. The system includes sqlite database but it also supports multiple other database formats. 30. Click one of the Nodes in database window-> the system locates that object in the model 31. Click to open a Link (Link column) to open a linked document of that objec (You can link documents /web addresses etc to that object by clicking the.. button, also multiple links can be done) 32. Choose Installing on Status_install column (arrow down) That is how you select objects that are installed from db 33. Activate all objects in

5 Navistools PointCloud Example 5 Table by selecting them all by holding your right mouse button down 34. click search (search button on right) This is how you locate a selected group of objects in a model using search criteria ts being installed) 35. On Navisworks menu select Home ribbon - Hide unselected (Shows only selected objects) 36. On Navisworks menu select Home Unhide All (Shows all objects) 37. On Navistools DataManager window pick Show All (bottom of the window) (Release the selection) 38. Change Status table (from Piping table) see Activate all Status_install objects in Table by selecting them all by holding your right mouse button down 40. Display all Status Colors from the Database (Display button on right) > the system shows all status colors in your model 41. Reset Status colors (arrow button) 42. Embed your database data to the model as properties This allows you to embed all your database data to your model, it can then be viewed as properties with Your plain Navisworks, including Navisworks Freedom. You can even use the links with Navisworks Freedom when using freeware Capture that Profox provides. Requests: sales@profox.com

6 Navistools PointCloud Example 6 Navistools Reporter example In this part we learn how to run Navistools Reporter ; Reporter allows user to generate excel or other format reports by using either property data, embedded database data or both. 43. Create a pipeline report using property data. Obs! make sure you have embedded the database data before starting, see 42, then start Reporter (main Navistools ribbon, see first picture) 44. Use the Datamanager for choosing only the pipelines in a model see This time choose Pipe from Description column, activate all Pipe databaseobjects and then click Search. => after clicking Search the system activates pipeline objects in Navisworks Selection Tree. 45. Click Generate Data Table button in Reporter = System generates data table with pipeline object property data 46. Go to Report tab, then pick those properties that you want to use for generating the Report. (see pic 46.) Then click Populate Report Data table-button => System generates Report data Table. You can modify table for example by changing column order

7 Navistools PointCloud Example Specify Report Header information, click second button from the left => system opens Title Information menu 48. Generate Potrait Report by clicking Potrait Report button (third from the left) => System generates report that then can be saved into multiple different formats (excel.xls, adobe pdf, office rtf., CSV etc ) Save from the menu You can also generate New Custom Report, modify it and save report specs (first button from the right) so that same specs can be used again with other Reports.
