1 Microsoft Photostory 3 for Windows XP Open the following URL to download Photostory3 and to learn more about using the program. When the program opens, three options will be made available. Select the task desired and click NEXT Step 1: Import your photos. Click Step 2: Navigate to the desired location of your pictures. HINT: When selecting multiple picture files to import, select the first file, hold the SHIFT key down on your keyboard while selecting the last file-by doing this every file will be selected to import. To select individual files, hold the CTRL key while selecting multiple files. When desired files are selected, click OK then click Import.

2 Step 3: Edit and arrange pictures. Click Next when complete. Simple editing tools Click here to remove borders. This is the first opportunity to save the project. Make sure to save often. Once pictures are imported into the program, you can rearrange them by selecting a picture, and using the arrows to change its position. You may also delete pictures by using the X. You may alter the crop by moving the box around. You can edit the photo selected using these tools. The photos that are altered will have the edit symbol underneath them in the timeline. You can automatically crop all photos by selecting Yes to All, or you can adjust each photo individually. Click Next when to move to the next step! 2

3 Step 4: add title overlays to the selected photo. To format the text, select this button. Enter the text in this box This is the text formatting window. You can change font: Type Style Size Color 3

4 Step 5: Add customized motion and recordings Click here to record With a working microphone connected to your computer, you can narrate your story. To assist you, type your narration here. To customize Pan and Zoom and transition effects select Customize Motion Customize Motion Customize Transition Click to go to the next image You can choose your own start and stop point for each photo s pan and zoom. After the transition is selected, click SAVE and CLOSE to return to the project. You can customize the transition duration, as well as the time the picture is displayed. By selecting the Transition tab you can customize the type of transition for each photo. 4

5 Step 6: Add music to your video You can either create your own music or use an existing audio file. Create your own by manipulating the options in this dialogue box, or add an already existing file, by navigating to and selecting the desired music file. HINT: The music file will be placed at the beginning of the currently displayed photo. Multiple songs can be placed in the movie. 5

6 Once your music is selected the information concerning this file will appear. Multiple music files may be used in the same project. To select multiple music files, select the picture that you want the next music segment to begin with. Then create or select your music and click open. Repeat these steps as needed. Step 7: Saving and producing Saving: Make sure you save two ways, as a.wp3 file and as a.wmv file. The.wm3 file is the editable file, the.wmv file is the video and cannot be edited. Step 7a: Click to save the project (.wp3 file)- navigate to where you want to save the file. Step 7b: Choosing this option allows for playback on your computer-it creates a Windows Media File Step 7c: Navigate to where you wish to save your video. The final step includes saving your movie file. There are several quality options, depending on how you want to share your movie. Step 7d: Click Next -your project will begin creating the video. 6

7 Step 8: Viewing Once you have completed your movie you can view your story. In order to return and edit this movie you must open the project- the.wp3 file. 7
