1 TechNote #143. Rev Prior to setting up your PostalMate network, make sure to review the Hardware Requirements. A Windows network must be setup and working. PC Synergy is not involved in setting this up. If your are unable to configure a Windows network, you may wish to hire a qualified computer technician. See last page of this TechNote for Windows Network sharing settings that will need to be applied prior to setting up your PostalMate network. Master Station Close PostalMate, open PM Utilities. Select Network Station Settings. Under Change to, choose Master. Close Network Settings and exit PM Utilities. Questions? Phone: support@pcsynergy.com

2 Page 2 Auxiliary Station Open PM Utilities on the auxiliary and select Network Station Settings. Choose the Auxiliary button. Enter a name (description) of this auxiliary station, or keep the defaulted name. Click OK. Two Warning messages and an Information message will display, read the messages and click OK on each to continue. Select the Master station from the list of computers displayed. The names will be the Windows computer names, not the PostalMate names assigned by you. Click OK. Network Station Settings should now display this computer as an Auxiliary. Close Network Station Settings and exit PM Utilities. Sometimes Windows will not display the Master station name, even though everything has been set up correctly. In this case, you can simply type in the name of the master computer here. PostalMate Settings Open PostalMate and choose Tools > PostalMate Settings. Select each of the following options on the left pane. Scale Settings: Select the appropriate scale model and port. Label Settings: Assign a printer to each shipping label option offered in your store. (Make sure to scroll to the bottom of the screen to assign all applicable labels.) Station Settings: Place a check mark next to all options for Internet shipping and online commitments. Close PostalMate Settings when done.

3 Page 3 POS Settings In the POS, you ll need to assign your receipt printer and credit card interface (if used). Choose Tools > Options > Register Settings. 1. Receipt Printer: Click on the Receipt Settings tab and select your receipt printer. Use the Test button as needed. Click OK when finished. See TechNote titled Installing Receipt Printer for more information. 2. Credit Card Interface: If you use a credit card interface on your auxiliary station such as Cayan, PayWare Connect, SignaPay, or NextPay, choose the Credit Card tab and select the appropriate options for credit card processing. See the corresponding TechNote for your credit card interface for detailed information on setup. Your PostalMate network is complete!

4 Page 4 Windows Network and Sharing Options Workgroup: Make sure that each computer is setup on the same Windows workgroup. Open the Windows Control Panel and choose System and Security, and then click on System. Below Computer name, domain and workgroup settings, click on Change settings. Type in the workgroup name as displayed on the other computers in your existing network. Click OK. You will be prompted to reboot.

5 Page 5 Windows 10 Network and Sharing Options continued Enable sharing on your network 1. From the Windows Control Panel, choose Network and Sharing Center. 2. Select Change advanced sharing settings on the left pane. 3. Turn on options for network discovery and file and printer sharing.
