1 Created March 2009 This application note shows how to set up Star Micronics printers for guest check and kitchen ticket printing from Inborne Technology s Point of Success Premium and Standard Software. While this application note was written using the TSP100 for guest checks and SP700 for kitchen tickets, these directions suffice for any Star Micronics printer model. Recommended Guest Check/Bar Printers: TSP100U, TSP650, or TSP700II Recommended Kitchen Ticket Printers: TSP100LAN, SP700 Recommended Label Printer: TSP828 Supported Interfaces: Ethernet, USB, Serial, Parallel Recommended Restaurant Printer Options: Splash Proof Cover, Vertical Stand, Kitchen Alarm Point of Success Software ( Point of Success Configuration 1. Ensure your printers are installed by clicking the Windows Start button and navigating Settings > Printers and Faxes. For instructions on installing Star Micronics printers, visit the FAQ section of Important: If you are using an ethernet printer, a static IP address must be assigned. Visit the FAQ section and search static IP to download step-by-step instructions. 2. Double click the Office Manager icon on the desktop to launch the back office application. 3. Click Tools in the top menu bar.

2 4. Scroll down to the Other Tools section in the lower right corner of the screen. Click on Select printing templates. 5. Click the drop down box next to Customer Receipt and select Customer Receipt (Star TSP100). Note: If you are using the TSP650 or TSP700II, select Customer Receipt (Star TSP600).

Assign the TSP100 to the Credit Card Receipt Payment, Credit Card Receipt Dispatch, Drop/Paid Out Receipt, Till Reconciliation, Bank Reconciliation, and Dispatch Ticket fields by clicking the drop down box next to each and selecting Star TSP100. Note: If you are using the TSP650 or TSP700II, select Star TSP600.

4 7. Click the drop down box next to Preparation Ticket 1. If your kitchen has one station, select Prep All in One (Star SP500). If your kitchen has multiple stations, select Prep Ticket 1 (Star SP500). Then, for Preparation Ticket 2, select Prep Ticket 2 (Star SP500) and so on for as many kitchen printers as there are. Note: Selecting the Star SP500 template suffices for using either the SP700 or SP500. If you are using a TSP100LAN for kitchen printing, select Star TSP100.

5 8. If you have the TSP828 printer to print labels for pizza boxes, select the drop down box next to Box Label 1 and choose Box Label (Star TSP800). 9. Click the Save button in the upper right hand corner. Then, exit out of Office Manager. 10. Double click the Order Entry icon on the desktop to launch the POS application and log in.

6 11. Click the Manager button. 12. Click the Workstation Setup button. 13. Click the Printers tab.

7 14. Click the General tab in the left menu bar. Assign the desired thermal printer model for each. 15. Click the Preparation tab in the left menu bar. Assign the SP700 for each station, depending on the number you have. 16. If you re printing Box Labels, click the Box Label tab and assign the TSP800.

8 17. If a cash drawer is connected to the receipt printer, click the Cash Drawers tab. 18. Click Enable Cash Drawer 1 and enter the number 07 into the first box. Click the Test button to pop the drawer and confirm successful communication. If the printer is driving two cash drawers, click Enable Cash Drawer 2 and enter the number 19 into the first box. Click the Test button to pop the second drawer. 19. Click the OK button in the lower right hand corner to save configuration. 20. Click the Close button in the lower right hand corner to return to the POS. Congratulations! You have successfully set up Star Micronics guest check and kitchen printers in Point of Success.
