1 Created December 2008 This application note shows how to configure the TSP100LAN kitchen printer using ASI Restaurant Manager POS Software. ASI Restaurant Manager Version 17.0 ( Star Micronics Tools Needed: TSP100LAN Configuration Utility (Included on Installation CD) TSP100LAN Configuration 1. Ensure the TSP100LAN is installed in your system by opening the Printers and Faxes folder. If the TSP100 is listed here, it has been successfully installed. After confirming this, close this folder. * For instructions on how to install the TSP100LAN, visit the FAQ section of 2. Click the Windows Start button and select Run. 3. Type cmd and click the OK button.

2 4. Type ipconfig. The command prompt will display the computer s IP address (in this case, it is ). Write down the IP address and close the window. 5. Click the Windows Start button and navigate Programs > StarMicronics > Star TSP100LAN > TSP100LAN Configuration Utility 6. Highlight Star Line Mode and click the OK Button.

3 7. In the left menu bar, click Virtual TCP/IP Ports. 8. Click the Add Port Button. 9. Enter 9100 and click the OK button.

4 10. Click the Start button. Then, click the dropdown box and set the service to Automatic. 11. Click on Apply Changes in the lower right hand corner. 12. Highlight the port number and click the Check Health button. If successful, a message will display stating Check Health Completed Successfully. The printer will also output a short test print. 13. Click Close in the lower right hand corner.

5 Restaurant Manager Configuration 1. Click the Windows Start button and navigate Programs > Restaurant Manager, Version 17.0 > Printer Spooler Setup 2. In the left hand column, highlight KITCHEN. The right column displays properties pertaining to this printer. 2a. Enter the computer name. If the name is unknown, go to the desktop, right click My Computer, and select Properties. A tab named Computer Name shows the name. Copy and paste it into the Computer Name field. 2b. Select IP Printer as the Printer Type.

6 2c. Enter the computer s IP address into the Printer IP Address field. Then, enter 0 into the Printer IP Port field. 2d. Click the Apply button at the bottom of the window. Then, click the Exit button. 3. Click the Windows Start button and navigate Programs > Restaurant Manager, Version 17.0 > Printer Spooler 4. In the top left window labeled Printers, KITCHEN will be shown with the computer s IP address next to it. Highlight it and click the Test button in the lower left corner. The printer will output a small test print. Minimize this window. Very Important: Do not close the Printer Spooler program. Restaurant Manager requires it to be running in order to communicate with any printers. 5. Click the Windows Start button and navigate Programs > Restaurant Manager, Version 17.0 > RM Backoffice

7 6. Enter the password. 7. Click Setup and select Station Configuration. 8. In the left menu bar, select the station to configure the printer for.

8 9. Scroll down to Prep Area Devices. Expand to see a list of 8 kitchen printers. If there is only one kitchen printer, set each printer to reflect these settings: Primary Device: #KITCHEN Backup Device: #KITCHEN Printer Type: Star SP300/312, DP8340 If there are multiple kitchen printers, assign the printers as desired.

9 10. Collapse Prep Area Devices. Just below it will read Printer Codes. Double click it. 11. In the left column, select Star SP300/312, DP8340.

10 12a. Click the Cut Paper button. Enter 10 into the first five boxes. If using only the tear bar and not the auto cutter, click OK and skip to step b. Enter the cut command after the 10s. Click OK. 13. Click OK in the lower right hand corner to exit the Printer Code Editor window. 14. Exit out of RM Backoffice. To print a sample receipt, click the Windows Start button and navigate Programs > Restaurant Manager, Version 17.0 > Point of Sale

11 15. Select any table number. 16. Select any server name. 17. Select any customer number.

12 18. Click on any items to add to the check. 19. Click the Send icon in the lower right hand corner. The TSP100LAN will print the order and is now configured to print kitchen tickets from ASI Restaurant Manager.
