1 TimberNavi 5 Software Update On Machine Software Update Release Notes Office Software Update Release Notes Important Information UPDATE TO VERSION 5.2.3: 1. This version resolves a MyJohnDeere login issue. 2. This version resolves the WirelessDataTransfer (WDT) issue. Always check for Office Software updated on the TimberNavi support website in MyJohnDeere.com before updating the On-Machine Software. There are corresponding changes in TimberNavi Map Designer and Add-in Toolbar for ArcMap. To save a trip to the machine, update the TimberNavi software when loading a new map into TimberNavi. Steps for updating on-machine software: 1. Downloading the software update from the TimberNavi support site in MyJohnDeere.com (TimberNavi_On-Machine_Software.zip) 2. Extract the ZIP file contents to a USB flash drive. On the USB there now should be a folder called TimberNavi On-Machine Software, inside the folder there should be 2 files: TimberNavi_ArcGis_Install.exe and Update Software.mpk. The Map Package file is an empty map and is only there so that TimberNavi detects the folder within Select Site window. 3. Bring the USB to the machine and key off machine. Wait for TimberNavi Monitor to power down 4. Power on TimberNavi Monitor only by pressing power button on front of monitor 5. Connect the USB flash drive to the TimberNavi Monitor 6. Tap the Main Menu icon and tap Select Site 7. Select USB 8. Select folder called TimberNavi On-Machine Software 9. Tap Open 10. Update Software popup will appear, click Install 11. Start install when prompted. 12. Wait minutes for the software update to complete successfully. 13. Tap Finish and allow TimberNavi Monitor to restart. 14. Upon restarting EWF is disabled popup will appear, click Yes to enable EWF. Monitor will restart again 15. Key on machine 16. COMPLETE 1
2 New Features and Resolved Items on Machine RESOLVED IN 5.2.3: Fix for MyJohnDeere login error Blank MyJohnDeere login page has been corrected. Users should now be able to log into MyJohnDeere. RESOLVED IN 5.2.3: Fix for MyJohnDeere Wireless Data Transfer (WDT) Inability to upload/download files from MyJohnDeere has been corrected. Users should now be able to upload/download files from MyJohnDeere account. Geospatial PDF Support Geospatial PDFs can now be opened directly in TimberNavi. When the PDF is opened, it is converted into a GeoTIFF (.tif) image file and saved to the PDF Storage Site in the Local directory. After conversion the image file acts as an image basemap layer - see Basemap Image File Support section for functionality description. PDF files can be transferred via a USB flash drive or MyJohnDeere. Upload PDF files directly through the MyJohnDeere web interface: Camera View Up to four analog cameras can be connected to the TimberNavi display. At startup, TimberNavi detects the number of connected cameras and displays a Camera icon in the lower-right corner of the screen. Click the Camera icon to switch to Camera View. In Camera View mode, the video channels numbers are displayed on the right side. If the video feed needs to be mirrored, press the Mirror icon in the lower-left corner of the screen. To switch back to Map View, press the map icon in the lower-right corner. For more information about TimberNavi s Camera Support see documentation on the TimberNavi support website: 2
3 Basemap Image File Support TimberNavi supports viewing images as basemaps in the map. GeoTIFF (.tif) and MrSID (.sid) file types are supported. Only 1 basemap image can be visible at any time, but the Site may contain multiple image basemaps to switch between. When imagery files are available in the Site Basemap folder, a Basemap Layer will be added to the map and is accessible through the Layers list. To switch between images, tap the Edit icon next to the layer name. The Select Basemap Image window will open. The Location Search button narrows the list of files whose extent encompasses the current GPS location. 3
4 Multiple images can be stored in the Site folder. Each image file must be stored within its own folder inside the Basemaps folder. The Image Refresh feature in TimberNavi allows a user to easily switch Raster images based on current machine GPS location. Press the Refresh icon next to the basemap name in the Layers list to load the image basemap that correlates to the current GPS location. The Image Refresh feature works with GeoTIFF without needing a Reference shapefile. In order for Image Refresh to work with.sid files, a Reference Shapefile must be saved within the Site s Basemaps folder. TimberNavi reads the Shapefile and, based on the boundaries defined within the Shapefile, TimberNavi selects the proper image basemap to load. The reference Shapefile must be projected in WGS 1984 coordinate system. RASTERNAME field must be present in the Shapefile and this field should refer to the Folder Name in which the associated image file is stored. The Shapefile does not appear in the map. To the right are two example of a folder structures: one with GeoTIFF (.tif) files and one with MrSID (.sid) image files with a Reference Shapefile. The Shapefile does not have to have a specific name. 4
5 Active Tracking Layer Color Selection Press the Edit button next to Active Track in the Layers list to change the color of the line. 4G MTG Machine Configuration When TimberNavi is configured to the 4G Machine Configuration, the raw GPS from the 4G JDLink controller is displayed on the map without any machine movement logic filtering. Machine tracking will automatically start when GPS-based vehicle speed exceeds 1 km/hr. It is not recommended to run this Machine Configuration with the 3G JDLink controller. Use the machine-specific configuration if your machine is listed. For example, M-series Tracked Feller Bunchers has a unique configuration option, do not use 4G MTG configuration. Display warning when Map Package has incompatible layers Warning message appears if one or more layers in the Map Package are not projected in WGS 1984 coordinate system. Fix for Machines List Select All checkbox Select All checkmark box is activated when the max number of machines are selected. Fix for MyJohnDeere login error Blank MyJohnDeere login page has been corrected. New Features and Resolved Items in the Office Fix for duplicate uploads through Map Designer Fixed the issue where duplicate files are created in Map Designer when uploading files to MyJohnDeere. 5
6 Full Functionality Software Version Compatibility Download and install the latest software versions to take advantage of full functionality across all programs. The two latest versions of each TimberNavi software package are supported. Compatible Not Compatible Latest Version Software Toolbar Add-in for ArcMap ArcMap* Version 10.2.x 10.3.x 10.4.x *ArcMap is a product of Esri and is not distributed by John Deere.
