1 Using your ipad and LWCF Inspections App 1. ipad setup and Connecting to the Mifi ipad setup and general use To turn your ipad on, press and hold the power button located at the top of your device (opposite end of the little round button on the front). Once your device starts or if you have left your device on, presss gently on the arrow and slide to the right to unlock your device (see red circle below for location). When your device is unlocked, you will see a screen similar to the one shown in the next image (your icons may look different or be inn a differentt location).

2 If you wish to change the orientation of your screen, turn your device the long way (vertical) and your screen and icons will reposition themselves similar to the image shown below. Either way will work, this is your preference.

3 Connecting to the Mifi Your Mifi is your internet and what will allow youu to connect t your ipad to the LWCF app. You need to be connected at all times in order to use the Inspections app and collect data. a. Tap once on the Settings icon on your ipad homescreen (circled above in red). b. A screen similar to the following screen should appear. c. Tap once on Wi Fi (highlighted in blue onn the left above) and you will see the following screen. d. Your device will automatically try to find your MiFi network since it was connected to it in the past. If it does not, tap once on your MiFi network (it will be listed under Choose a Network). e. If prompted for credentials, flip over your MiFi JetPack and the password will be on a sticker on the back. Each one of your devices has a different network name and password and both of these credentials are case sensitive. f. Enter your case sensitive password by tapping once next to Password. The built in ipad keyboard will appear see below for keyboard use instructions. a. The built in keyboard by default will be set up to enter letters as shown below.

4 b. To get a capital letter, tap either arrow (circled above in red) once and the arrow will turn to blue as shownn below. This will change your case to capital for 1 letter. c. If you need a series of alll capital letters, tap the arrow twice quickly in a row and the arrows will change too a blue background as shown below. d. To get numbers to appear in your keyboard, tap once on the.?123 button in the lower left of the keyboard (circled above in red). Your keyboard willl change to numbers as shown below.

5 e. If you need special characters, you can further filter your keyboard by tapping once on the #+= button (circled in red above) and the following will appear. f. To get back to your letters, click on the ABC button in the lower left of your keyboard (circled above in red) and you will be back to the original letter keyboard.

6 g. After you have entered your password, tapp once on Join on the built in keyboard, or the blue Join button in the topp right corner of the connection window (circled above in red). h. Also, check to make sure that the switch to the right off Wi Fi is turned to ON as shown circled in red in the following image. i. If your Wi Fi is not turned on, tap the gray circle in the ON switch (it will say OFF) and drag it to the right (it should now say ON like the image) and check to see that your Wi Fi is connected using the above steps. j. Once connected, there will be a checkmarkk next to your wireless connection and a signal strength indicator. Note: theree is also a signal strength indicator at the top of the ipad display which also indicates you are connected to Wi Fi.

7 i. j. If it still does not connect, make sure you have the MiFi with you at all times it will not work if you leave it in your car and walk around a project site. Also, be sure to charge your MiFi fully before each use it may go dead and you will no longer have internett until you charge it again.

8 2. Accessing and using the LWCF Collectorr app on an ipad Access the app In order to startt the processs of collecting data, youu first need to start the ArcGIS appp on your ipad. a. Tap once on the green ESRI ArcGIS icon on the bottom right of your ipad (circled in red below). b. The following blank map will appear. c. Tap once on the Maps button at the top left off your ipad (circled above in red) and the following screen will appear.

9 d. Tap once on the Sign In button and the following credentials windoww will appear. e. If your cursorr is not already there, tap once next to Username: and enter your ArcGIS Online username. Similarly, tap once next to Password: and type in your ArcGIS Online password. When finished, either tap Done on the keyboard that

10 popped up or click the blue Done button in the top right of the credentials windoww (circled above in red). f. You will be taken again to a blank map. g. Tap once again on the Maps button in the top left corner and click on My Groups h. Tap once on the BRC Group (Note the imagee below has many more groups that you are able to see and your screen will look different). i. Tap once on the LWCF Inspections Data Collection App listing that appears.

11 j. The application should open to a view similar to the one below.

12 Search for Locations a. At this point, you can search for a location (i.e. zip code, city, address etc.) by using the built in search function in the top right corner of the app. Type in where you want to go and click Search on the keyboardd that popped up. b. If there is only one possible result for the location you searched, the map will automatically zoom to that location as shown in the following image. If there is more than one possible result returned from yourr search, a list will appear in the Search window and you can tap once on your preferred location and the map will zoom as show in the following image.

13 Bookmarks Since many of you work in the regions and are interested in only your areas to be inspected, Bookmarks weree created for each of your regions to allow quick access to those areas. a. To access the Bookmarks, click on the open book icon just to the left of the search field in the top right corner of your app. A dropdown will appear with available bookmarks as shown in the following image. b. Tap once on your preferred area and your mapp will automatically zoom to the general extent of your region.

14 Selecting a Point for Inspection a. Using your index finger, tap and hold on a location on the map away from one of your inspection points. After a second or two, a magnifier window will appear as shown below. b. Keep holding the window and hover over your chosen LWCF point. c. Line the crosshairs up in the middle of the magnifier window with the center of your point and remove your finger from the screen. d. A view similar to the one below will appear, showing you attributes of your selected point.

15 e. To scroll down to the bottom of the popup window, touch within the popup and move your finger towards the top of the window. You willl see the popup contents scrolling and you will be able to see further content as shown below. f. To access the site pdf showing the original contract and map plot/boundary, tap once on the blue link from within the popup that says Site PDF (circled above in red). The pdf will open as shown below. In order to zoom in on the pdf to see more detail, tap once on the Open in Safari button (circled in red below).

16 g. The document is now open in Safari, which is your ipad s web browser (similar to Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc). h. To zoom in on the contents, place your thumb and index finger on the text in the middle of the pdf and push your fingers away from each other. This will zoom in on the contents. Similarly, if you wish to zoom out place your fingers on the screen and pull them together. g. Once zoomed in you can scroll to the bottom of the pdf document, which is wheree the plot map is typically shown as in the image below.

17 Collecting Inspection Dataa a. To begin entering your inspection data about the site, tap the arrow in the top right of the popup window (circled in red below). b. The following options will appear. Choose Edit (circled in red below) by tapping once on the Edit button.

18 c. The following window will appear, which is where you will enter all of your data regarding the site inspection.

19 d. To enter inspection date, tap on the blue arrow at the end of the Inspection Date: row (circled in red above). The following window will appear. e. To enter today s date tap Today. If you wish to enter a different date, use the sliders and set the month, day and year. Tap the blue Done button in the top right corner of the window when you are finished entering your data (circled above in red). You are now back att the editing screen and your date has changed. 6/25/2013 f. Tap the blue arrow at the end of the Inspection Period: row and the following window will appear.

20 g. Tap once on Inspected <4 years and a check mark will appear beside it and the following window will appear. h. Tap Yes and tap the blue Done button in the top right corner and you will again be taken back to the data entry screen.

21 i. Continue tapping the blue arrows at the ends of each row and tapping your choice for the inspection decision. A checkmark will appear beside what you have chosen. Tap the blue Done button after each choice is made. All rows must be filled in on your data entry form. j. The very last data entry option is not a check box, rather it is a text box to allow you to enter comments. Once you have tapped the blue arrow next to Additional Comments: a window similar to the below image will appear. k. Enter your comments using the built in ipad keyboard. When finished, tap the blue Done button in the top right corner of the popup window. l. In order to attach photos or videos to your record, tap the Attachments button at the bottom of your data entry screen (circled in red below). Note: BRC will be providing guidance as to the photos/videos that should generally be taken at each site.

22 m. The following attachment window will appear. n. Tap Add once and the available options through your device will appear (yours may look slightly different).

23 o. To take new photos or video, tap once on the Take Photo or Video button (circled in red above) and your devices camera will start as shown below. p. To take a photo, aim the device camera in the direction of your subject and tap once on the little camera (circled in redd above).

24 q. If the photo is acceptable, tap the Use button (circled in red above) and your photo is now stored with your record. If it is nott acceptable, tap Retake (circled in red above) and redo the process. You can continue adding as many photos or videos, by tapping the Add button. Saving the Dataa Once you are all done entering data and photos, you now have to save the record, which will automatically post it to the database. a. Tap the green Finish button in the top rightt corner of your map (circled in red below).

25 b. You will get a message that updates are being sent and attachments are being posted and your point will now change color to green base on your inspection date as shown below.

26 3. Other app functionality Changing basemaps a. If you wish to have a different background mapp or if you wish to see an aerial photo of the site, tap the basemap switcher button located at the top center right of your app (circled in red below). b. Your basemap options will appear in a dropdown window and your Current choice will be greyed out and sayy Current in white. c. To change the map, tap once on your choice and the map background will automatically change as shown below where the Imagery basemap was chosen.

27 General Popup Behavior To view information about a feature (LWCF sites, acquisition areas or trails) in the map, tap once on the feature and a popup will appear similarr to the image below. If theree is more information, scroll down within the popup as described previously. If theree are clickable links (similar to the Site PDF) they will appear as blue underlined links. Tap once and they will open in your devicess internet browser. Often times you will have a location with more than one popup as shown below by the text 1 of 2 at the top of the popupp and the 2 dots located at the bottom of the popup (circled in red below).

28 a. To accesss the second record or 2 of 2 touch the text in the popup with your index finger and flick quickly left or right. The dot at the bottom will change to be the second dot and the popup will sayy 2 of 2. GPS Location You can use your devices GPS functionality to see where you are right within the map. a. To enablee the GPS, tap once on the GPS iconn in the bottom right of your map (circled below in red). b. You may be prompted by your device to allow your device to talk to your GPS and show your location as shown below.

29 c. Click OK and your GPS location will be shown in blue on the map as shown below. d. To turn off the GPS, tap on the icon in the bottom rightt again and it will turn grey and the GPS is off. Using the Measure Tools Within the app you have the ability to measure length and area. a. To enablee the Distance measuree tool, tap once on the distance measure icon located in the top middle second icon from the left (circled in red below). b. Instructions will appear Use the GPS or tap on the map to add a point. c. To use the GPS, make sure it is on (as described above) and follow the onscreenn instructions.

30 d. To measure manually, tap the map at a specified location and a red dot will appear where you tapped as shown below. e. Tap again and the distance automatically appears in the top center of your screen (circled below in red).

31 e. To enablee the Area measure tool, tap once on the areaa measure icon located in the top middle second icon from the right (circled in red below). f. Instructions will appear Use the GPS or tap on the map to add a point.

32 g. To use the GPS, make sure it is on (as described above) and follow the onscreen instructions. h. To measure manually, tap the map at a specified location and a red dot will appear where you tapped as shown below.

33 i. Continue tapping in your desired shape and the area will dynamically change and automatically appear in the top center r of your appp as shown below. Turning Layer Visibility On/Off Sometimes you may or may not want to see certain features on the map. a. To turn off features, tap once on the black arrow tab on the left center of your app (circled in red below).

34 b. The following window will appear. Make sure you have the Content button chosen as shown below (circled in red). c. To turn a layer off, tap and drag the grey button to the left (circled in red). Your layer will automatically turn off and no longer appear on your map.

35 Signing Out a. After you are all done entering data, tap thee Maps button (circled in red) in the top left of your map and click the My Groups back arrow, then then the Find maps back arrow until you get to the screen below. b. Tap once on Account: username (yours will have your username) and the following prompt will appear. c. Tap Yes and you are signed out. d. To sign back in, repeat the stepss outlined inn this document.
