3 I Installation

4 Installation Installation 1. To download the free trial version of 5D Plan go to the CRYSTAL 5D website and select the download button The displayed window shows 5 steps required to install 5D Plan including a Sample Project. Step 1 and Step 2 refer to the installation of Microsoft.NET and Microsoft XNA which are required prerequisites. If both software packages are already installed on your computer these steps can be skipped. Step 3 shows the Install 5D.Plan link, select it to download the 5D Plan installer. Save the installer on your desktop. Step 4 shows the Download "Sample Project" link, select it to download the Sample Project. Save the zipped file SampleProject.zip to any location on your computer. Double click the zipped file as shown in Step 5 and extract the file Sample Project.5dp to any location on your computer. 3. To install 5D Plan, double click the installer 5DPlanInstaller_v xxx.msi The Open File - Security Warning window is displayed. Select the Run button 5D Plan. 4 to start the installation of

5 Installation 4. The 5D Plan Setup Wizard is started and the Welcome screen is displayed. Select the Next button continue the installation process or select the Cancel button to abort the process. to Next the Select Installation Folder window is displayed. In the Folder field the default installation folder is displayed. Select the Browse... button if you want to install the software at a different location. Select the Everyone button to install the software for all computer users or select the Just me button to install the software only for the current user. To continue the installation process select the Next button. 5. In the Customer Information window displayed enter your Name and Organization in the applicable fields. Select the Next button to continue. The Confirm Installation window is displayed. Select the Next button Plan. 5 to start the installation of 5D

6 Installation 6. The Installing 5D Plan window is displayed showing the progress of the installation. After finishing the software installation the Installation Complete window is displayed. Select the Close button to quit the installation wizard. 7. Go to the Windows Start menu and select 5D Vision => 5D Plan to start the application. 6

7 Installation 8. Before 5D Plan is started the Trial Version Reminder window is displayed. The remaining number of days 5D Plan can be used for free is displayed. In order t use 5D Plan the following registration information is required: Enter your full name in the User name field. Enter your address in the field. Enter your full company name in the Company name field. Enter the country of your company in the Country field. Select the Try button to use 5D Plan free during the trial period. If you have purchased a license enter the client code received and select the license type. Next select the Activate button to register and start 5D Plan. 9. To open the downloaded Sample Project.5dp file select File => Open from the 5D Menu located at the lower left corner of the application. In the File Browser window displayed go to the location / folder where you saved the Sample Project.5dp file. Select the file and select the Open button to load the design. 7

9 Start New Project Start New Project Start a new design by using the Sample Project, that you can download from the Crystal 5D Website www. crystal5d.com 1. To download the Sample Project select the download button. Select the Download "Sample Project" link from Step 4 to download the Sample Project. Save the zipped file SampleProject.zip to any location on your computer. 2. After downloading the file select the Save button. to save the zipped file to any location on your computer. In the windows file browser window select certain folder. Select the Save button to save the file. Double click the zip file and extract the file Sample Project.5dp to any location on your computer. 9

10 Start New Project 3. Go to the Windows Start menu and select 5D Vision => 5D Plan to start the application. 4. To open the downloaded Sample Project.5dp file select File => Open from the 5D Menu left corner of the application. 10 located at the lower

11 Start New Project 5. In the File Browser window displayed go to the location / folder where you saved the Sample Project.5dp file. Select the file and select the Open button to load the design. 6. The file is opened and the design is displayed in the Design Editor. 11

12 7. To start a new design from the 5D menu Start New Project select the function New Design. 8. In the New window enter a new Project Name and select the OK button. 9. The new empty design is created and the library contains the library objects of the Sample Project. 12

13 III Define Building

14 Define Building Define Building The Building Editor is used to create buildings and the site. A building is created by defining the building dimensions, the number of levels and the number of grid lines. The Building Editor also provides functions to add library objects on one or more grid point positions. 1. From the 5D menu select Building Editor to open the building editor window. 2. In the Building Editor select the Buildings node in the tree view, right click and select Add building. 14

15 Define Building 3. Automatically a new building is added to the site area. Default the new building is located at the origin of the site (0, 0, 0,). Select the Name field to change the building name [BUILDING] into for example New Building. The default dimensions of the new building are Size (X) = 6m, Size (Y) = 6m, and Size (Z) = 6m, Visually the building is represented by a blue box. 4. In the Building Editor select the Grid Lines (X) node in the tree view, right click and select Add Grid Lines (X). 5. The Add Grid Lines (X) for Site area... window is opened. In the Number of grid lines to add field enter the number of new grid lines, for example 3. In the Offset for new grid lines field enter the offset between the new grid lines, for example 9.6m. Select the Ok button to add the grid lines. Note that the building box is now stretched in the X-direction. 15

16 Define Building 6. The Building Editor lists the 3 new grid lines in the X-direction. All grid lines have the same name [XGRIDLINE]. Select the Grid Lines (X) node in the tree view, right click and select Add Auto-name(1-9). This function automatic renames grid lines or levels in numeric order. The name of the Grid Lines (X) can also be changed manually by selecting the Name field and entering a new name. 7. The grid lines are automatically renamed. Next also add 3 grid lines in the Y-direction with an offset of 9.6m in a similar way. Use Auto-name (A-Z) to change the name of the grid lines automatically. Note that the building box is now stretched in the Y-direction. 8. In the Building Editor select the Levels node in the tree view, right click and select Add Levels. 9. The Add Levels for "Building"... window is opened. In the Number of grid lines to add field enter the number of building levels, for example 1. In the Offset for new grid lines field enter the offset between the new levels, for example 6.0m. Select the Ok button to add the levels. Note that the building box is now stretched in the Z-direction. 16

17 Define Building Change the Level names using one of the auto name functions or edit each level name manually. Select New Building under the Buildings node and select the check mark the created grid visible. under the tab ShowGrid to make A blue transparent building box is visible with inside the green building grid. The transparent building box has the same size as the building grid. Select the close button Select From the 5D menu to exit the Building Editor. The inboxes are now generated. select File => Save to save your changes. 17

19 Insert Building Objects Insert Building Objects The Building Editor includes the function Insert Library object. This function inserts a library object on a selection of red grid points in the X-direction, Y-direction and Levels. Besides normal library objects (fixed dimensions) also parametric scalable and stretchable library objects can be inserted. 1. Select the Grid Lines (X) node for the New Building to display the grid lines in the X-direction. To select specific grid lines select the check mark in the selected column, for example grid 1 and Select the Grid Lines (Y) node for the New Building to display the grid lines in the Y-direction. To select specific grid lines select the check mark in the selected column, for example grid A and B. 19

20 Insert Building Objects 3. Select the Levels node for the New Building to display the levels. To select specific levels select the check mark in the selected column, for example grid L.0. Once grid lines and levels are selected, red grid points are visible in the design as red spheres to mark the selection. 4. In the Building Editor select the New Building node in the tree view, right click and select Insert Library Object. 5. In the displayed Insert library object on selected grid points... window select the Object Browser Button. The Object Browser window is opened, select a category Node to display sub categories. Select a category in the tree view to display the library objects. From the library select the floor object Floor Part 1m and select the OK Button. The library object Floor Part 1m is a scalable object with a dimension of 1m x 1m x 1m. When inserting the object it can be scaled to any required dimension. 6. In the Dimension fields enter the scale parameters for the object, for example: X = 9.600m, Y = 9.600m and Z = 1.000m. To preview the result of the parameters set, select the Preview Button. If necessary select the Clear Preview button to remove the result and change the parameters. To actually insert the library object with the parameters select the OK button. The library objet is now inserted and scaled at the selected grids. 20

21 Insert Building Objects As shown in the above picture the floor parts are inserted and scaled at the selected grid points. Select From the 5D menu select File => Save to save your changes. 7. In a similar way columns can be inserted into the design. Select all Grid Lines (X), all Grid Lines (Y) and level L.0 by selecting their check marks. Once the grid lines and level are selected, red grid points are visible in the design as red spheres to mark the selection. 21

22 8. In the Building Editor select the New Building node Insert Building Objects in the tree view, right click and select Insert Library Object. 9. In the displayed Insert library object on selected grid points... window select the Object Browser Button. Select the object Column with label 1m from the library and select the OK Button. The library object Column with label 1m is a scalable object with a dimension of 1m x 1m x 1m. When inserting the object it can be scaled to any required dimension. The library object has labels on each side. After inserting the object these labels automatically display the grid area. 10. In the Dimension fields enter the scale parameters for the object, for example: X = 0.600m, Y = 0.600m and Z = 6.000m. To preview the result of the parameters set, select the Preview Button. If necessary select the Clear Preview button to remove the result and change the parameters. To actually insert the library object with the parameters select the OK button. The library objet is now inserted and scaled at the selected grids. 22

23 Insert Building Objects As shown in the above picture the columns are inserted and scaled at the selected grid points and column labels display the grid names. Select From the 5D menu select File => Save to save your changes. 11. To create walls without using the Building Editor double click near the location the wall needs to be located. From the Object menu select Insert => Library Object. Select the object Wall Part 1m from the library and select the OK Button. The library object Wall Part 1m is a scalable object with a dimension of 1m x 1m x 1m. After the object is inserted it can be scaled to any required dimension. 23

24 Insert Building Objects 12. As shown in the above picture the object is inserted and highlighted. To move the object double click it and from the Object menu select Edit => Move / Rotate => Relative Position. 13. The Relative Position window is opened. Select the Name button for Reference Object B in order to select the object B from the design 24

25 Insert Building Objects 14. In the design select a Reference Object B to move the object Wall Part 1m relative to. The selected Reference Object B is in this example is the highlighted column. 15. The distance in the X, Y and Z-direction between the Ref.Points of the selected objects is displayed in the Relative Position window. 25

26 Insert Building Objects 16. Change the Relative Position X, Y, and Z values in the Relative Position window to move the wall object towards the column. Select the OK button to end the function. 17. To change the scale parameters (dimension) of the wall object double click it and from the Object menu select Properties. The Properties window is displayed showing the current dimensions of the wall object. 26

To change the dimensions of the wall object in the Properties Window change the values for the Height, the Length and the Width such that the object fits between the columns. In a similar way more walls, floors and columns can be inserted as shown in the above picture. 27

28 V Import Building

29 Import Building Import Building In case a building is made by a third party it can be imported into a design. 1. From the 5D menu select Library Editor to open the library editor window. 2. From the 5D menu select File => Import 5D File. 3. In the Windows file browser select the 5D file containing the building to import, for example Building.5dv, and select the Open button to import the file. 29

30 Import Building 4. In the Import Templates window displayed select the Select All button to import the library objects into the library. 5. From the 5D menu select Design Editor to return to the Design editor. 5. From the 5D menu select File => Import Design. 30. Next select the OK Button

31 Import Building 6. In the Windows file browser select the same 5D file containing the building to import, for example Building.5dv, and select the Open button to import the building. 7. As shown in the picture above the building is now imported. 31

33 Insert Equipment Insert Equipment The function Insert Library Object inserts a library object from the library into the design. 1. From the Object menu select Insert => Library Object. 2. The Object Browser window is opened, select the category Node to display sub categories. Select a category in the tree view to display the library objects. Select the required library object PCW Pump KSB Etanorm and select the OK Button. 33

34 Insert Equipment 3. The library object is inserted at the selected location and the Move / Rotate Mode is started. Use the A or Z key to move the object along the active axis. Use the Enter key to rotate the object around the active axis To change the active axis press the Tab key The active axis is highlighted. 4. Select the ESC key to end the function. The library object PCW Pump KSB Etanorm is now inserted. 34

36 VII Create Connection

37 Create Connection Create Connection The Create Connection function creates a connection (pipe, duct or cable) between two connection points. 1. Select a connection point, from the Object menu select Create => Connection. 2. The object is highlighted and the Create Connection Mode is started. To create a connection press the A key, the length of the segment is increased with one step size. Press the A key again to increase the length with one more step size. Repeat pressing the A key until the segment has the correct length. To decrease the length of a segment with one step size press the Z key. 3. Press the T key to insert a T-piece. In the Tee Parameters Window displayed make adjustments if required. Select the OK button to insert the T-Piece into the connection being made. 37

38 Create Connection 4. Press the Enter key to rotate the inserted T-Piece. Press the A key to continue creating the next segment. 5. To insert an elbow in the connection being made press the E key. In the Elbow Parameters Window make adjustments if required. Select the OK button elbow. to insert the 6. Press the Enter key to rotate the inserted elbow. Press the A key to continue creating the next segment. 7. Shift + Click the destination connection point. An orange guide is displayed showing the optimum route to the selected connection point. Press S Key to insert the next segment following the orange guide. 38

39 Create Connection Press the U Key to update the orange guide. 8. Press T Key to insert a T-piece. Change parameters if required and select the OK button T-piece. to insert the Press the A key to continue creating the next segment. Press Esc to stop the function. 9. Select the free connection point of the T piece, from the Object menu select Create => Connection. Shift + Click the destination connection point. The orange guide is displayed. To connect the connection according to the orange guide press the V Key. In the Confirm window opened select the Yes button to fix the connection to the POC. 39

40 VIII Insert piping component

41 Insert piping component Insert piping component The Insert Component function inserts a component from the library into a connection, or at a free connection point of a pipe or duct, or at a point of connection (POC) of a library object. A similar function is available while creating a connection using the I Key. 1. Select a connection, from the Object menu select Insert => Component. 2. The Object Browser window is opened displaying only categories and sub categories containing piping components with the same material and diameter as the connection or POC selected. Select the required components from the list. Select the OK button to insert the component into the connection. 3. The component is inserted at the selected location and the Move / Rotate Mode is started. 41

42 Insert piping component Use the A, Z, TAB and Enter keys to position the inserted component. Select the ESC key to end the function. 4. In a similar way other piping components can be inserted. 42
