4 Initial Startup Initial Startup Select the Unisight DVR Client icon. This icon has two small blue monitors connected to the globe located on the Windows Desktop. Once the application loads you will be presented with a log-in screen. The default selected username is Supervisor. The password for this user is left blank for the initial setup. To log-in select the Ok button. (Fig. 1-0) (Fig. 1-0) The first time the Unisight DVR Server application is run you must select your video standard. If you are inside the United States select the 'NTSC' radio button and click the Ok button to finish the Initial Setup. (Fig. 1-1) (Fig. 1-1) After you have logged in, you will be in the Remote Preview mode. (Fig. 1-2) The Unisight DVR Client utilizes its own set of user rights, separate from the Unisight DVR Server. Each time you select the Setup button you will be presented with a Login dialog box. (Fig. 1-0) 4

5 Channel Grid (Fig. 1-2) The Channel Grid contains the remote video preview. This is where you will see all of your connected video feeds. You can select each channel by left-clicking the mouse, selecting a channel will also activate the remote audio preview for that channel. The currently selected channel will have a white highlight box around it. Double-click a video channel to maximize it. To restore the Channel Grid double-click the video feed again. DVR Information Window The current date and time are displayed here along with the CPU workload. (Fig. 1-3) Be sure not to overload the CPU. If the CPU Usage reaches 100 the client machine may become unresponsive. The available hard disk drive space is also displayed here. The Free Space display is the free space available on the local hard disk drive, not the recording drive on the Unisight DVR Server. The current user is also displayed in blue. 5

6 (Fig. 1-3) Grid Layout Buttons The arrangement of the Channel Grid is easily configured by eight buttons. (Fig. 1-5) These buttons will change the number of channels displayed on the Channel Grid. Hover your mouse cursor over these buttons for a description of each of the layout buttons. The Auto Group Switching button will start/stop the switching of each configured group. (Fig. 1-4) (Fig. 1-4) (Fig. 1-5) Camera Status LEDs There is a single row of Camera Status LEDs. (Fig. 1-6) You can connect to a maximum of 64 channels at once, depending on available resources. The more channels you connect to the more system resources are needed to display the video feeds from the Unisight DVR Server. Each Camera Status LED will be a different color for each of the different connection types: Color GREEN GRAY RED BLUE Connection Indicator Connected No Connection Connection Lost/Failed Local Recording (Fig. 1-6) Extra Function Buttons These Extra Function buttons are shortcuts to many of the features available through the Extra Functions dialog box. (Fig. 1-7) Hover your mouse cursor over the icons for a description of the button. (Fig. 1-7) 6

7 Zoom In/Out Buttons Unisight Digital Technologies You can zoom in and out on any connected video channel by using the two buttons with the magnifying glass. (Fig. 1-8) To zoom in select the Zoom In button. Place the cursor over the currently selected video channel and left-click and drag a square around the area you want to zoom in on. To further zoom in repeat the same process. You will reach a point at which you cannot zoom in any further. To zoom out select the Zoom Out button. For each step that you zoomed in you must also zoom out. If you zoomed in twice, you must zoom out twice. (Fig. 1-8) Node Tree The Node Tree displays all configured DVR Servers, Camera Groups, and Emap nodes in a tree structure. You can use this tree structure to quickly navigate to individual video channels. To connect to any of these channels double click the channel name. (Fig. 1-9) (Fig. 1-9) Connection Buttons From left to right these buttons are Node Search, Connect, Disconnect, and Disconnect All. The Disconnect button will disconnect the currently selected video channel. The Disconnect All button will disconnect all connected video channels. (Fig. 1-10) (Fig. 1-10) The Node Search button will bring up the Node Search dialog box. (Fig. 1-11) Use the Query Item text field to type in the name you want to search. Use the drop down box to filter the results. Select the Search button to search the Node Tree. Each item found will be listed. Select the item in the Node Search dialog box and the associated item will highlight in the Node Tree. 7

8 (Fig. 1-11) The Connect button will open the Connect Server dialog box. (Fig. 1-12) Select the desired Server or Group to connect to using the Server or Group drop down boxes. By default all channels from all Servers and all Groups are displayed. Choose a channel to connect to by selecting the channel from the list. To quickly connect to all channels select the Select All button. Use the Username and Password fields to input the correct information. These fields are case sensitive. The Record at the Same Time check box will start a local recording of all connected channels when enabled. The Screen Mode drop down box will display a different number of channels from a single channel to 64 channels. The OK button will connect to each selected channel. The Cancel button will close the Connect Server dialog box without connecting to any channels. To the left of each channel is either an asterisk (*) or hyphen (-). The asterisk (*) means you are already connected to that channel. The hyphen (-) means that you are not connected to that channel. (Fig. 1-12) 8

9 Matrix Control Buttons Unisight Digital Technologies The The A1 through A4 Public View Shortcut buttons will display the currently selected video channel on the selected external monitor. (Fig. 1-13) (Fig. 1-13) The Public View Control button will open the Public View Switch dialog box. (Fig. 1-14) The Public View Auto Switching check box will automatically cycle through all channels when checked. When the Public View Auto Switching is disabled, you can manually configure which channel is displayed on which Public View. The Switch button will display the currently selected Remote Preview channel on the currently selected Output Channel (Public View). The Close button will exit the Public View Switch dialog box. (Fig. 1-14) Pause Button The Pause button will open the Suspend Alarm Actions dialog box. (Fig. 1-15) This will allow you to suspend all incoming alarms to the Unisight Client. (Fig. 1-15) 9

10 The Duration drop down box allows you to specify a time (in minutes) to suspend the incoming alarms for. When this time has run out all alarms will be automatically re-enabled. The Disconnect All Current Alarm Connections check box will disconnect each video channel with an alarm condition. The OK button will pause the incoming alarms. The Cancel button will close the Suspend Alarm Actions dialog box without pausing any incoming alarms. E-Map Button 1-16) The E-Map button will overlay the configured electronic map on the Channel Grid. (Fig. (Fig. 1-16) In the top left of the E-Map is the Minimap. (Fig. 1-17) The blue rectangle is the currently viewed area. You can left-click and drag this blue rectangle to quickly view the desired area on a large map. (Fig. 1-17) On the bottom of the E-Map are the E-Map control buttons. (Fig. 1-18) From left to right these are Zoom In, Zoom Out, Back, Fullscreen, Default Zoom, Toggle Minimap. (Fig. 1-18) The Zoom In button will magnify the current E-Map. You will eventually reach a point at which you can no longer zoom in. The Zoom Out button will shrink the current E-Map letting you see more at once. You will eventually reach a point at which you can no longer zoom out. The Back button will return you to the last Map Node. If this button is grayed out you are already viewing the Root Node. The Fullscreen button will remove the surrounding interface and maximize the E-Map. To return from fullscreen right-click on the E-Map. The Default Zoom button will return to the actual image size of the E-Map. The Toggle Minimap button will cycle through Minimap positions. The 5 th Minimap position is off. The other 4 positions are in each of the 4 corners of the E-Map. 10

11 System Buttons Unisight Digital Technologies The System buttons, in the bottom right, will allow you to lock/unlock, hide, and exit the Unisight Client. If the system is currently unlocked the Lock/Unlock button will lock the interface. (Fig. 1-19) Most features and buttons will be grayed out and inaccessible. If the system is currently locked the Lock/Unlock button will bring up the Login dialog box. (Fig. 1-20) You will need to type in the correct Client Username and Password to unlock the system. (Fig. 1-19) (Fig. 1-20) The Hide button will minimize the Unisight Client to the System Tray and return you back to the Windows Desktop. (Fig. 1-21) To return to the Unisight Client right-click the DVR Client icon and select Restore DVR Client. (Fig. 1-21) The Exit button will open the Login dialog box. (Fig. 1-22) You will need to type in the correct Client Username and Password to exit the Unisight Client. (Fig. 1-22) Setup Button The Setup button will open the Login dialog box. (Fig. 1-23) You will need to type in the correct Client Username and Password to enter the Client Setup menu. (Fig. 1-23) 11

12 Remote Control Button Unisight Digital Technologies The Remote Control button will open the Control Remote Host dialog box and allow for remote control of the Unisight DVR Server. (Fig. 1-24) (Fig. 1-24) Playback Button The Playback button will open the Playback mode where you will be able to review recorded video and create backup CDs. (Fig. 1-25) (Fig. 1-25) Print Button The Print button will bring up the Image Viewer and allow you to view, edit, and print any snapshot taken. (Fig. 1-26) Select the File menu, then select Open to open a snapshot image. (Fig. 1-27) Once the snapshot is loaded you can use various editing tools to enhance the image. The printout is not only a single image. Extra information is embedded on the page such as various time stamp information. (Fig. 1-26) (Fig. 1-27) 12

13 Voice Chat Button Unisight Digital Technologies The Voice Chat button allows for a two-way communication between the Unisight Server and the Unisight Client. (Fig. 1-28) The Voice Chat will need a microphone and a set of speakers at both the Unisight Server and the Unisight Client for two-way communication. (Fig. 1-28) Once the Voice Chat button is selected the Starting Voice Chat dialog box will appear. (Fig. 1-29) The Show Server Address check box will toggle the display of the IP address after the Unisight Server name. The Call button will initiate the Voice Chat with the currently selected Unisight Server. The Hangup button will terminate the Voice Chat. (Fig. 1-29) Record Button The Record button will start a local recording of the currently selected video channel. When recording locally the Record button will highlight orange and the corresponding Camera Status LED will be blue until pressed again to stop the local recording. (Fig. 1-30) PTZ Button The PTZ button allows you to move a configured PTZ camera on the Unisight DVR Server. To expand the controls select the PTZ button. (Fig. 1-31) Selecting the PTZ button again will collapse the controls. Use the Up, Down, Left, and Right buttons to pan and tilt, there are also buttons for Focus, Iris, and Zoom. The More buttons (F1, F2, F3) will control additional features such as Glass Wipe if supported by the PTZ camera. To orient the PTZ camera to a saved PTZ Preset location use the Preset button. (Fig. 1-31) 13

(Fig. 1-32) The Locate button will reposition the PTZ camera to the currently selected Preset Position No. The Setting button will save the current PTZ camera orientation to the currently selected PTZ Preset Position. The Exit button will close the PTZ Preset Position Control dialog box. (Fig. 1-32) 14

15 Extra Functions The Extra-Function dialog box contains additional features. (Fig. 2-0) The version number is also displayed in parenthesis on the title bar. (Fig. 2-0) The Mute button will disable the Live Preview Audio for every channel. While disabled the Unisight Server will still be recording audio as normal. Select the Mute button again to enable Live Preview Audio. The Hide button will minimize the Unisight Client to the System Tray. The Cancel button will close the Extra-Function dialog box. The Suspend Alarm Actions button will open the Suspend Alarm Actions dialog box. (Fig. 2-1) The Disconnect All Current Alarm Connections will close the connection to each connected channel with an alarm condition. The Duration drop down box specifies how long the alarms will be suspended. The OK button suspends the alarms. The Cancel button closes the dialog box. (Fig. 2-1) 15

16 Extra Functions Snapshot F1: This button will bring up the Extra Functions dialog box. Unisight Digital Technologies F2: This button will take a snapshot of the currently selected video channel and will be saved to the default directory of C:\Snapshot Data. Snapshot Viewer F3: This button will bring up the Image Viewer and allow you to view, edit, and print any snapshot taken. (Fig. 2-2) Select the File menu, then select Open to open a snapshot image. The Exit button will close the PTZ Preset Position Control dialog box. Most PTZ Cameras support Preset 95. If you select the Locate button while preset 95 is selected it will open the Setup options on the PTZ camera itself. 16

17 (Fig. 2-3) Text Chat F5: This button will bring up the Chat Room dialog box. (Fig. 2-4) To configure a chat room select the Setting button. The Chat Setting dialog box will appear. (Fig. 2-5) Set a name for the chat room using the Name field. Input the Address (LAN IP), Server Port (8000 by default), and Description using the fields at the bottom of the window. Select the text color using the Color button. This is the color of the text you type, the other users have their own separate colors. Select the Save button to return to the Chat Room dialog box. Type in a message in the bottom text field and select the Send button to have your message appear. The Clear All button will remove all sent/received text messages from the chat window. (Fig. 2-4) 17

18 (Fig. 2-5) Audio Volume F6: This button will allow you to adjust the volume of both the Waveout volume and Main Volume. (Fig. 2-6) The Waveout volume is the volume of the Live Audio Preview. The Main Volume includes the Waveout Volume along with other sounds such as the alarm sounds. (Fig. 2-6) 18

19 Control Remote Host Machine Unisight Digital Technologies F7: This button allows for remote activation of certain features. (Fig. 2-7) The configured servers are listed on the left. To gain control of a remote Unisight DVR Server select the server name. The server IP address can also be displayed alongside the server name by checking the Show Server Address check box. There are five actions that you can control remotely: Alarm In, Alarm Out, Guard, Record, and Motion. To start or stop any of these select the desired field and select the Start/Stop button. Starting and Stopping depends on the current schedule, the Start/Stop button may be grayed out for some actions. You can also restart and shutdown the currently selected Unisight DVR Server by using the Restart and Shutdown buttons. The Rediscover button will automatically close the Control Remote Host dialog box and rebuild the server list. If you have configured a server and it does not show up on the server list select the Rediscover button. The Parameters button will load the Web Client Configuration interface overlaid on top of the Unisight DVR Client application. The User Admin button will load the Web Client User Admin interface overlaid on top of the Unisight DVR Client application. (Fig. 2-7) 19

(Fig. 2-8) The Show Server Address check box will toggle the display of the IP address after the Unisight Server name. (Fig. 2-8) Auto Group Switch F9: This button will start/stop the switching of each configured group. Video Parameters F11: This button will open the Video Parameters dialog box. (Fig. 2-9) You will be able to adjust the brightness, contrast, saturation, and hue for the currently selected video channel. Select the Default button to restore all parameters to their original values. (Fig. 2-9) 20

21 Disconnect All Unisight Digital Technologies F12: This button will disconnect all video channels from the connected server(s). Instant Playback Ctrl+I: This button will open the Instant Playback dialog box. (Fig. 2-10) Drag the Time Slider under the video feed to quickly fast forward/backward. The buttons (from left to right) are Save, Fullscreen Mode, Decrease Speed, Play, Pause, Stop, Increase Speed, Snapshot, and Exit. The Save button will start the standard backup process and allow you to backup the Instant Playback video. The Fullscreen Mode button will maximize the Instant Playback video. To return from Fullscreen Mode right-click the mouse button anywhere on the screen. Use the Increase/Decrease Speed buttons to make the video play faster or slower. You can play as slow as ¼ real time speed and as fast as 16x real time speed. The Pause button will freeze playback and show a still frame. The Stop button will stop playback and move the time slider to the beginning of the Instant Playback video. The Play button will resume playback starting where the time slider is positioned. The Snapshot button will take a still image and allow you to save it. The Exit button will close the Instant Playback dialog box. Once you close the Instant Playback dialog box a new period of video may appear if you reenter Instant Playback depending on the length of time that has passed since you first initiated Instant Playback for that video channel. When you first enable the Instant Playback feature in the Setup menu, it may take up to a half-hour to successfully cache video for all the video channels. (Fig. 2-10) 21

22 Adjust PTZ Speed Ctrl+P: This button will allow you to change the speed at which the PTZ camera moves when using the PTZ Control buttons. This is especially useful when panning/tilting while zoomed in. Pressing Ctrl-P on the keyboard will bring up the Adjust PTZ Speed dialog box. (Fig. 2-11) Use the Horizontal/Vertical Speed sliders or enter a number in the Horizontal/Vertical Speed fields. This will not change the speed at which the PTZ camera moves when the PTZ camera in Cruising. The Use Server Default Speed check box will automatically use the Unisight DVR Server setting for the PTZ speed. (Fig. 2-11) Running E-map Ctrl+A: This button will open the E-Map dialog box only if the E-Map has already been configured. Channel Extend Info Ctrl+E: This button will open the Notice dialog box containing the Extend Info for the currently selected video channel. This is only a display, the text is not editable. To edit the Channel Extend Info use the Extend Info button in Setup -> Advanced Tab -> Channel Description -> Extend Info. 22

23 Setup To enter the Unisight DVR Client setup select the Setup button. (Fig. 3-0) The Setup dialog box will appear. (Fig. 3-1) (Fig. 3-0) (Fig. 3-1) 23

24 Connection Tab Unisight Digital Technologies The Server List drop down box will display per-server Connection Options. (Fig. 3-2) The Channel column lists the channel number that corresponds to the channel number on the Unisight DVR Server. The Enabled column will enable/disable that specific channel on the Unisight DVR Client only. The Group column will display the group number that the channel is associated with. If no group is associated with that channel the Group field will be blank. The Auto Connect column enables/disables the Auto Connect feature for that channel. If enabled that channel will automatically connect when the Unisight DVR Client applications starts. The Description column will change the name for that individual channel on the Node Tree. This is highly useful when using the Node Search to locate an object. The Alarm Voice column displays the sound file associated with that channel. (Fig. 3-2) Use the Alarm Voice button to select a.wav file to playback during an Alarm Condition. The standard Windows Open dialog box will appear and will automatically direct you to the Media folder containing several alarm sound files. Note that if you do not have an alarm sound the PC speaker will continually beep. 24

25 The Server Setup button will open the Server Information dialog box. (Fig. 3-3) Select a server from the Server List to configure. Use the Device Type drop down box to select the Unisight DVR Server type, either PC based or Embedded. The Address field is used to input the IP address or a fully resolvable host name of the DVR Server. The Port field specifies which port to use when connecting, this port must match the port number configured on the DVR Server. The Description field will rename the selected server from Server-01. Use the Username and Password fields to input the user information you wish to login to the DVR Server with. The Disable Alarm Action check box will prevent the Unisight DVR Client from receiving any Alarm Conditions from the Unisight DVR Server. The Clear button will reset the selected server information. The Parameters button will open the Remote Configuration page for the selected DVR Server. The OK button will close the Server Information dialog box and return you back to the Setup. (Fig. 3-3) The Group Setup button will open the Group Information dialog box. (Fig. 3-4) Select a group to configure using the Group List. The Server List drop down box will allow you select a Unisight DVR Server, once selected a list of channels will be displayed. You can check each desired channel to add to the group. The Select All button will quickly add all channels to the group. The Clear button will quickly remove all channels from the group. The Enable Auto Switching check box will add this group to the Auto Switch list. The Switching field displays the number of seconds to display the group before switching to the next group. The Description field allows you to name the group. The OK button will close the Group Information dialog box and return you to the Setup. 25

26 Record Tab (Fig. 3-4) The Single File Recording Time specifies the maximum length, in minutes, of a local recorded video file. Once this time limit is reached the current recording is packed up and saved to the hard drive and a new video file is started. The Minimal Disk Space specifies how much free space is needed to write to the local hard drive. The Overwriting Trigger Value specifies how much space is free when the Unisight DVR Client starts overwriting previously recorded video files on the local hard drive. The To Be Released Space specifies the amount of previously recorded video files to overwrite with new files. The Enable Auto Overwriting check box enables/disables the automatic overwrite of the oldest video recordings. The Video File Path field specifies where to save the recorded video files on the local hard drive. 26

27 (Fig. 3-5) Advanced Tab The Enable CPU Threshold will limit the number of Live Remote Preview Channels based on CPU utilization. Once CPU utilization reaches 100% the Unisight DVR Client will stop attempting to connect to additional channels to prevent system instability due to lack of system resources. The E-Map Popup will automatically display the configured E-Map when an Alarm Condition is detected. The Messenger Service will display each message sent from the Unisight DVR Server on the bottom of the screen. The Snapshot Preview will display the Snapshot Image and allow you to save or cancel. Auto Remote Playback will automatically connect to the same Unisight DVR Server Playback that was connected in the Live Remote Preview. Auto Alarm Connect will automatically connect to any channel on any Unisight DVR Server that has an Alarm Condition. Smart Voice Alarm will delay the Alarm Sound based on inactivity. When the mouse/keyboard have no input, ie the monitoring personnel are away, the Alarm Sound will be played. Instant Playback enables the Instant Playback button for each Live Remote Preview channel. Auto Re-connect will automatically attempt to reestablish the connection to a dropped channel. Alarm Record will automatically create a local recording of any channel that has an Alarm Condition. Auto-Switch With Screen Mode will automatically change the number of displayed channels based on the number of channels in each Group when using Auto Group Switching. Log File Keeping specifies the number of days to store the Unisight DVR Client Log before automatically overwriting. Snapshot File Path specifies the default location on the local hard drive when taking Snapshots. 27

28 (Fig. 3-6) Environment Tab The Environment Tab allows you to configure system environment options. (Fig. 3-7) Auto Administrator Login When Windows Is Started will reconfigure the Login Type for Windows and automatically log in. Use the Password button to input the Windows username and password. Auto Startup This Program will add the Unisight DVR Server to Windows startup list and launch as soon as the Windows user logs in. No Login Dialog Box will allow you to input a username and password in the Server Setup and will automatically authenticate with the Unisight DVR Server. This is required for Group Autoswitching. The Client Host Name field specifies the name of the Unisight DVR Client. 28

29 (Fig. 3-7) Log Button The Log button will open the Log Viewer dialog box. (Fig. 3-8) The log file will provide more information about how the the Unisight DVR Client was functioning. Each log file is organized by date, there is one log file per day. You can sort by log entry type using the Type drop down box. You can also sort log entries by user with the Username drop down box. Use the Save button to create a backup copy of the log file. (Fig. 3-8) 29

30 E-Map Button Unisight Digital Technologies If this is the first time you have configured the E-Map you will see the E-Map dialog box. (Fig. 3-9) The E-Map feature is an advanced camera/sensor/alarm electronic map capable of embedding smaller maps inside of larger maps. (Fig. 3-9) Select the Define A Root Node button to select the root map, this root map is the top level map and can contain embedded maps, cameras, sensors, and alarms. The standard Windows Open dialog box will appear. The default directory for map images is C:\Unisight Softwares\Client\E-map. Select the root map image from the list and select the Ok button. You will now see the E-Map dialog box with your root map image. The E-Map Control Buttons are on the bottom of the dialog box. (Fig. 3-10) From left to right these are Zoom In, Zoom Out, Return To Parent Map, Fullscreen, Standard Zoom, and Move Thumbnail Map. (Fig. 3-10) To embed a map image inside the root map image right-click on the root map image. The E-Map Node dialog box will appear. (Fig. 3-11) Select Map Node from the Node Type drop down box. Input a name for the child map in the Description field. You can change the color of the Description text that appears on the map by using the Color button. Select the Open button (yellow folder) to select the child map image. The standard Windows Open dialog box will appear and you will be able to select the map image. 30

31 (Fig. 3-11) Creating Cameras, Alarm Outs, and Sensors will create an icon on the E-Map that will act as a shortcut to the associated object. To add a camera to the E-Map right-click on the map image to open the E-Map Node dialog box. (Fig. 3-11) Select Camera from the Node Type drop down box. Type in the channel number in the Channel field and fill in the Description field. Once the camera icon shows up on the map image you can click and drag the icon to the desired location. Upon closing the E-Map Node dialog box you will be asked to save the changes. To use the E-Map select the E-Map button in the Live Preview mode. To view an embedded child map double-click the map icon. To bring up a video channel in Single Screen Preview double-click the camera icon. When you double-click the camera icon the E-Map will automatically close. You can also quickly clear all of the E-Map configurations and maps. Select the Remove Root button. This will clear all E-Maps and present you with the Define a Root Node button. Local User Button The Local User button will allow you to add/delete users and to modify their permissions. There are several buttons on the top of the User Admin dialog box. (Fig. 3-12) Hover the mouse cursor over these buttons to see what each of them are. To delete a user from the system select the user from the list and select the Delete button. To configure an existing user select the Modify button. To add an additional user select the Add User button, the Modify User dialog box will appear. (Fig. 3-13) 31

32 (Fig. 3-12) (Fig. 3-13) Select the User level using the top radio buttons. The User Level determines clientside bandwidth priority. If a user with a higher User Level logs into the system and there is not enough bandwidth for all users, the user with the highest User Level will be allocated the required bandwidth. The users with a lower User Level will have their connection interrupted until other users disconnect from the system. Fill in the Username, Password, Retype Password, Full Name, and Description fields. You can disable a user by checking the Disable This User check box. This will not delete the user. To make a user the default user check the Default User check box. The default user is the user that automatically appears in the Lock/Exit/Login dialog boxes. 32

33 To assign permissions to be granted to the user select the Authority button. The Assign Authority dialog box will appear. (Fig. 3-14) Check or un-check each of the selectable permissions for the user. To quickly remove all permissions select the Clear button. To quickly assign all permissions select the Select All button. (Fig. 3-14) To create a backup copy of the configured users select File and then Save As. The standard Windows Save dialog box opens. By default the user backup will save to the Config Files Backup directory inside the Unisight DVR Server folder. To restore a User Backup File select File, then Load. The standard Windows Open dialog box will appear. Select the *.usr file to import. 33

34 Playback Mode The Playback mode allows you to review and backup recorded video files. (Fig. 4-0) You can playback a maximum of 16 channels at once. You can fast forward at 16x. Take note that playback at 16x speed on all 16 channels would be the same as playing back 256 channels at normal speed. Playback at 4x speed on all 16 channels would be the same as playing back 64 channels at normal speed. The PC system used for playback may not have the system resources to playback that many channels at once or at that playback speed. Be sure to monitor your CPU Usage in the Playback Information Window and HDD access lights on the chassis when playing back recorded video files to avoid unwanted issues. The network bandwidth also has an impact on the performance of Playback, be sure that there is enough bandwidth for any playback operation. (Fig. 4-0) 34

35 Playback Information Window Unisight Digital Technologies The Playback Information Window displays the current date, time, and CPU usage in white on the top of the display. (Fig. 4-1) The channel number (Channel), video file size in Mb (Size), video file length in seconds (Length), bandwidth in Mbps (Bandwidth), volume level (Volume), playback speed (Speed) in green. (Fig. 4-1) Channel Grid The channel grid contains the playback video. This is where you will see all of your video recordings. You can select each channel by left-clicking on the desired grid square, this will also activate the audio for that channel. There is a full screen mode that you can toggle by clicking the right mouse button on the video feed. Grid Layout The arrangement of the Channel Grid is easily configured by 9 buttons. Hover your mouse cursor over these buttons for a description of each of the layout buttons. (Fig. 4-2) You can also zoom in and out by using the two buttons with the magnifying glass. To zoom in select the Zoom In button. Place the cursor over the currently selected video channel and left-click and drag a square around the area you want to zoom in on. To further zoom in repeat the same process. You will reach a point at which you cannot zoom in any further. To zoom out select the Zoom Out button. For each step that you zoomed in you must also zoom out. If you zoomed in twice, you must zoom out twice. (Fig. 4-2) Calendar The calendar displays days that have recorded video footage in red, days with no video footage are displayed in black. (Fig. 4-3) To change months use the single arrow buttons. To change years use the blue double arrow buttons. To quickly change to the current day select the Today button. 35

36 (Fig. 4-3) File List You can also search for video recordings using the File List. (Fig. 4-4) Simply select the date from the Date drop down box and the channel name from the Cameras drop down box. You will see a range of time indexes. Each time index is a single video recording file. To playback a recorded file select the desired time index and select the Play button. To playback a series of recorded video files sequentially hold down the Ctrl button on the keyboard and select more recorded video files from the list. (Fig. 4-4) Playback Node Tree The Playback Node Tree allows you to switch between Unisight DVR Servers. (Fig. 4-5) When entering into the Playback Mode the Local Files is selected by default. Local Files will display all video recording files located on the local hard drive. Select Global Server to expand the available server list. Select one of the DVRs to populate the Calendar. (Fig. 4-5) 36

37 Playback Controls Unisight Digital Technologies These controls will allow you to control the various aspects of playback. (Fig. 4-6) From left to right these are Previous File, Decrease Speed, Step Backward, Stop, Play, Pause, Step Forward, Increase Speed, Next File, Multiplay, and Stop All. (Fig. 4-6) Previous File Jumps to the beginning of the previous video recording file. Decrease Speed Slows down the playback speed to a minimum of ¼ real time speed. Step Backward Moves the time slider back one frame and also pauses playback. Stop Stops playback of the currently selected video recording file. Play Starts playback of the currently selected video recording file. Pause Freezes playback of the currently selected video recording file. Step Forward Moves the time slider forward one frame and pauses the video playback. Increase Speed Increases the playback speed up to 16x real time speed. Next File Jumps to the beginning of the next video recording file. Multiplay Starts playback of all selected video channels. To select/de-select a video channel left-click on the Cam buttons in the Camera column on the bottom left of the screen. To quickly select all video channels double-click any of the Cam buttons. To quickly de-select all channels right-click any of the Cam buttons. The recorded video files may not playback completely synchronized. The Unisight DVR Server caches each file sequentially before playing back the selected recorded video files. To synchronize the playback, use the Local SYNC Playback. Stop All Stops playback on all video channels. The Volume Buttons will increase/decrease the volume of all video channels. (Fig. 4-7) The Mute buttons will enable/disable the audio playback. The Exit button will close the Playback mode and return to Live Remote Preview. (Fig. 4-7) The Clip button will allow you to extract a video clip from the currently playing video file. (Fig. 4-7) To start a video clip select the Clip button. The Clip Video File dialog box will appear. (Fig. 4-8) A Start Time will be displayed but no Stop Time. Select the Ok button to start recording a clip. The Clip Video File dialog box will disappear and the recorded video file will continue to play. Once you have passed the video portion that you want in the clip select the Clip button again. The Clip Video File dialog box will appear. (Fig. 4-8) A Start Time and Stop Time with both be displayed. To save the clip select the Ok button. The Files Backup Manager will appear. (Fig. 4-9) 37

38 (Fig. 4-8) (Fig. 4-9) Type in a name for the clip using the Filename field. Input a label for this backup using the Label field. Past labels will be displayed in the Label drop down box. Select the Backup button to continue and choose a location to save to. The Select Path dialog box will appear. (Fig. 4-10) Select the device to save the video clip file to using the Device Type drop down box. Select the appropriate drive to save the clip file to using the Drive List drop down box. The Free Space and Space Needed displays will automatically update. Select the Save button to finish the clip creation process. (Fig. 4-10) 38

39 Snapshot Unisight Digital Technologies The Snapshot button will take a still image of the currently selected video file. (Fig. 4-11) You can then save this image for later review. (Fig. 4-11) Browse and Print Image File The Browse And Print Image File button will open the Image Viewer. (Fig. 4-12) The Image Viewer allows you to edit and print out saved snapshots. When a snapshot is printed additional information is automatically added to the printout, including the time the snapshot was taken, DVR name, time the snapshot was printed, and channel number. (Fig. 4-12) Manual Selecting File If you have recorded video files stored in a location other than the default directory the video recordings will not show up in the Calendar or the File List. Use the Manual Selecting File button to access the recorded video files. (Fig. 4-13) To browse for recorded video files select the Open button (yellow folder). (Fig. 4-14) The standard Windows Browse dialog box will appear. Locate the folder that the recorded video files are stored in and select the Open button. You will be returned back to the Select Video File dialog box. You can sort the recorded video files by channel, recording type, and by time index. Once you locate the recorded video file you wish to play left-click on it so that it highlights. Select the Ok button and the video file will begin to play. (Fig. 4-13) (Fig. 4-14) 39

40 Backup Files Unisight Digital Technologies The Backup Files button will open the Backup Recording Data dialog box. (Fig. 4-15), (Fig. 4-16) From here you are able to backup multiple cameras from multiple days simultaneously. During the last step of the backup process the player software is automatically copied over along with the recorded video files. No other software or codecs are needed to review the saved video on a different Windows XP/2000 PC system. (Fig. 4-15) (Fig. 4-16) Use the Date drop down boxes to set a date range to filter the results. Use the Time fields to set a start time and end time to filter the results. The Recording Type drop down box will allow you to further filter the results by searching for only Motion/Manual/Continuous/ Network/Alarm based recordings. To backup multiple cameras check the box next to the channel name. The Select All button will automatically check all cameras. The Inverse 40

41 button will select the exact opposite of the currently selected cameras. Select the Search button to begin the recorded video file search. In the results the Start/Stop Time, Length, Channel, Mode, and Disk will be displayed. Left-click a video file to select it. Hold down the ctrl key on the keyboard and left-click to select multiple recorded video files to backup. The Select All Files button will select all results. The Inverse button will select the exact opposite of the currently selected video files. The Cancel button will close the Backup Recording Files dialog box. When you have selected the desired recorded video files select the Backup button. The Files Backup Manager dialog box appears. (Fig. 4-17) (Fig. 4-17) The Backup Tools button will open up Nero (if configured in the.ini file) and allow you to add more files to a CD session. The USB Devices button will allow you to remove USB devices that you do not want to show up in the Device Type drop down box when finishing the backup process. Type in a name for the backup in the Label drop down box. Select the Backup button. The Select Path dialog box will appear. (Fig. 4-18) Select the backup device using the Device Type drop down box. Select the Save button to complete the backup process. (Fig. 4-18) You cannot save directly to a CD/DVD from the Unisight DVR Client software. Due to varying network conditions between the Unisight DVR Client and the Unisight DVR Server burning directly to a CD/DVD is unreliable. You must first save to the local hard drive first. To finish the Backup process select the Burn Manager button on the bottom of the Backup Manager. The Burn Manger dialog box will open. (Fig. 4-19) 41

42 (Fig. 4-19) Each local backup is listed in the top half of the Burn Manager dialog box. Use the + to expand each backup. You can add an video file to the backup by double-clicking the file name. The Delete button will remove the currently selected video file from the backup. The All button will select all added video files for backup. The Inverse button will select the exact opposite of what is currently selected. The Close button will exit the Burn Manager. Once you have highlighted the desired video files select the Backup button. Continue the backup process as normal. You will now have to option to backup to a CD. 42
