Create a layout within an existing photobook GETTING STARTED

To create a standalone layout: Open Studio-Scrap on the welcome screen Click on the New icon. A blank page appears. To create a layout within an existing photobook: Open the photobook of your choice. Select the layout that directly precedes the new layout you are about to create Click on the icon, and then on «Add a new page to the photobook» to create a blank page Follow the instructions below to complete your layout. Layout format We recommend choosing a page with the same format as that of the layout you wish to create. This will allow you to eliminate both image definition problems and the appearance of white margins on the layout upon printing. Example 1: If you choose an A4 page format, we recommend that you choose an A4 layout type. If not, you risk ending up with white margins when you print your layout. Example 2: If you print a layout with a 20 cm X 20 cm format on a 30 cm X 30 cm page, some photos, clear in your layout format, may come out slightly blurry in print. To choose the format of your layout: Click on the «Sheet and Templates» tab below. GETTING STARTED - 13

Click on the left on the Sheet tab and choose your layout format. For the purposes of our example, choose a square format (E.g.: 200 x 200 mm or 300 x 300 mm) Choosing a template The program offers you a huge range of different templates. These are like sketches for paper scrapbooking. To access these templates, click on the tab «Sheet and Templates», located on the upper part of your screen. A set of small icons appears in the top left corner of the photo. Use the zoom icons or to enlarge or reduce the photo inside its shape. Use the icon to delete the photo from the shape. Click on the photo and drag the mouse to move the photo into its shape. Warning: movement is restricted to within the shape s borders. Fill in the three main squares in this same way in our example. Adding a background color You can use either a color or a background image as a background. This color will appear as the layout s background. From an artistic point of view, you can choose a color that is present in the 3 photos in your layout GETTING STARTED

Two examples: 1/ Put one of the three photos again onto the screen s background. The Zoom tool will allow you to select only the sea in our example: Select the photo you wish to insert as a background Click on this small icon: Click on the icon then move the image so that the layout background shows only the sea. 2/ Choose one of the backgrounds provided in Studio-Scrap. If you change the format of one of the layouts in the photobook, all of the layouts in the photobook will get this new format. The templates Illustration of a few templates A template is a collection of shapes and text arranged in an artistic way. The program offers a huge range of different templates. To access these templates, click on the tab below, located in the upper-left portion of your screen. Click on the left on Templates We have sorted all templates by category, followed by format (Square, A4). Click on the template category, located to the left, to reveal the corresponding templates at the top of your screen CREATING OR MODIFYING A TEMPLATE

You can expand or reduce the template viewing area. To do so: Click on the horizontal line separating the band of templates from the layout. Holding down the left mouse button, drag the mouse toward the top to reduce this area or toward the bottom to expand it. You can also click on the small zoom icons (to the right of the templates displayed) in order to increase or reduce the size of the template display. Clean and Simple templates These templates belong to the Clean & Simple scrap trend in which a single large photo is most often placed on a minimalist page. American / European template These terms are derived from Scrapbooking. American-style templates are templates that usually contain few photos but many embellishments. European-style templates usually contain more images and use various shapes. The layout also contains fewer embellishments. Numerous other templates Studio-Scrap offers many other templates such as collages or cards. CREATING OR MODIFYING A TEMPLATE - 21

Selecting a template When you click on a template (in the scrolling window at the top of your screen), it appears at the center of the screen. 35 SHAPES / MASKS This chapter explains how to add or modify shapes within your layout. Remember: A shape is a closed container into which you will insert your photos, backgrounds, or solid colors. Some shapes can also serve to embellish your layout (Leaf, stamp, balloon, etc ). To follow along with this chapter, we recommend opening an existing template (See chapter entitled CREATING OR MODIFYING A TEMPLATE). Choosing a shape When you click on a shape, small icons appear in the top left corner of the shape. We will describe these functions in detail in the chapters entitled Modifying a template and Laying out the template. There are a few important functions to note right away. This icon deletes the selected shape from the template. This icon appears when the shape contains an image. Clicking on it activates the Shaping mode. See below for more information on the Shaping Mode. SHAPES / MASKS - 29

This icon appears when the shape contains an image. Clicking on it activates the Photo mode. See below for mode information on the Photo Mode. Use this icon to set the shape, position, and contents of the selected shape. Click on this icon again to reactivate the functions. In the tool bar at the bottom of your screen, click on the red arrow to undo the most recent operations one by one. Click on the yellow arrow to redo these operations. Shaping mode The Shaping mode allows you to move or change the size of a shape in your layout. You can also access the shape s rotation and symmetry functions. Note: If the shape contains neither image nor background, the Shaping mode is automatically activated. If the shape does contain an image or background, you can activate the Shaping mode by clicking on the second icon from the top in the vertical toolbar: 30 - SHAPES / MASKS

When you select a shape, all icons relating to the movement and modification of that shape are positioned vertically. Photo mode The Photo mode allows you to move or change the size of an image displayed within a shape. You can also access the image s rotation and symmetry functions. When you select an image, these functions are available via the horizontally positioned icons. Note: If the shape contains neither photo nor background, the Photo mode cannot be activated. If the shape does contain an image or background, you can activate the Photo mode by clicking on the second icon in the horizontal toolbar. Shapes list SHAPES / MASKS - 31

The list of the shapes of the layout appears to the right of the screen.the object list Each line in the objects list at the bottom right of the screen contains: A tick box indicating if the shape is displayed or not on the layout. Untick this box to hide the object on the layout A small icon representing the outline of the shape in the template The name of the object. To rename an object, double click on the line and type in the name you want to use. Position and size The properties detailed at the top right of the screen are those of the selected object in the list, or those of the last object you have selected or modified on the layout. Position and Dimensions: These values indicate the position of the selected shape s upper-left node, as well as the shape s size in millimeters. See the section entitled Moving a shape. You can change these values directly in the dialog box shown on the right. The zoom The Zoom photo area allows you to find the Enlargement / Reduction factor applied to the image when it is in the shape SHAPES / MASKS

Order of shapes within the list In the list of shapes shown on the right, the first shape at the top of the list is the topmost object of your layout. The second shape is the one on the second layer etc This function is interesting because it allows you to hide part of an image with a decorative shape, or with a shape containing another image. In the example below, the round shape is the topmost object, on top of the others. It appears at the top of the list. The round shape thus hides a part of each square. If you lower the round shape to the bottom position, with the icon, the square shapes will be located on top of it. In that case, they will hide part of the circle. To reverse the order of the shapes: In the list, click on the shape you would like to move Click the mouse on the desired line SHAPES / MASKS - 33

Or use the «up» arrow icon to move the shape up to the top layer or the «down» arrow icon to move the shape down step by step to the bottom layer. Adding a new shape To add a new shape to your layout: Click on this tab located at the top left of your screen A wide range a shape outlines, arranged by category, is available. Click on one of the categories to view all of the corresponding shapes on your screen. Click on your desired shape. To your left, click on the icon here to add it to your layout. You will then be able to move and resize it. Searching for a shape: On the upper right corner of the screen, a text box allows you to enter a keyword to search for a shape. Example: If you type in: Baby, Studio-Scrap displays all shapes related to the subject: Bib, baby carriage, baby bottle etc Note: Some shapes will allow you to incorporate images as well as backgrounds, and many others will allow you to enhance your layout by incorporating backgrounds SHAPES / MASKS

Replacing a shape If you would like to replace one shape with another: Click on the shape you would like to replace Click on this tab, located top-left Click on one of the categories to view all of the corresponding shapes on your screen. Click on your chosen shape. Click on this icon: Note: If you replace a shape belonging to a group, all shapes in the group adopt this new shape. See the section entitled Grouping shapes below. Example: A group contains 3 square shapes. If you replace one of the shapes with a rounded shape, the group will be made up of 3 circles. Deleting a shape To delete a shape from a template: Ensure that the Shaping mode is selected. Click on the shape you would like to delete Click on the following icon: Warning: If you delete a shape belonging to a group, all shapes in this group will be deleted. See the section entitled Grouping shapes below. SHAPES / MASKS - 35

Changing the size of a shape Ensure that the Shaping mode is selected. Click on the desired shape. Locate the 8 small dots surrounding the shape Maintaining the proportions of a shape Click and drag the mouse on the blue dot on the bottom-right of the shape. The shape increases and decreases in size while maintaining its original proportions. Stretch a shape Click on one of the 7 white dots and drag the mouse to increase or decrease the size of the shape.
