6 Chapter I Brief Review of Interactive Whiteboard 1.1 Interactive Whiteboard Network Documents are projected to the interactive whiteboard for demonstration when the projection equipment is properly connected to the PC. Users can write or draw on the interactive whiteboard with the stylus. User operation is immediately reported back to the whiteboard software for processing when the whiteboard is connected to the PC through the private line. Users can print the documents with the printer while the monitor is displaying the contents of the whiteboard. 1.2 New Functions The present version 3.0 have added the control panel which gives shortcuts to the common functions, Office 2007 plug-in function and a variety of selections of new interfaces. Meanwhile, the functions of brush, intelligent brush, import resources, etc. in version 2.0 are optimized. 1

7 Chapter II Introduction 2.1 System Requirements Hardware PC Quantity:1 Software Projector Operating System Requirements Recommended Setup:Intel Pentium4 Lowest Setup:Intel Pentium 3 Quantity:1 Windows Sp4 Windows XP + Sp2(Sp3) Windows Sp2 Window 7 800, 512MB 1.8G, 512MB/1GB/2GB 2.2 Installation of Software The installing steps are as follows: 1.Run Blackboard setup.exe in the disk, and go to the interface of Select Installation Language, as shown in the chart: 2. Select English, and click Yes, the pop-up dialog box is as follows: 2

8 3. Select Installation Path, and click next, you will go to the interface of Installation Path Confirmation: 5. Select the installation path, and click next, you willgo to the interface of Select Components as: 5. Click next, and go to the interface of Select Start Menu Folder:: 3

9 6. Click next, and additional tasks can be selected in the pop-up box: 7. Click next, and go the interface of Ready to Install: 8. Click Install button, and go the interface of Installing: 4

10 9. Software installation is complete, the pop-up dialogue box prompts to install the driver, depending on the choice of operating systems for installation 10. After successful installation, pop-up dialog box prompts driver installation is complete 5

11 11. Click "Finish", the installation is complete. 2.3 Uninstallation of Software The steps are as follows: 1. In the window of Control Panel Add or Delete Software, select labotrix Interactive BlackBoard, and click delete, the pop-up dialog box is as follows: 2. Click Yes, the uninstallation starts. The dialog box after completing is as follows: 3. Click Ok, the uninstallation is over. 2.4 Program Running Calibration In order to run the whiteboard normally, we need to do the calibration when we use it the first time. The operating orbit of the brush or fingertip must agree with the mouse, and the calibration will not be needed if no environment changes involve. Calibration methods: After the connection of the whiteboard hardware to the computer, press on the calibration shortcut icon " "on the whiteboard surface or double click on the default desktop shortcut icon" "* [*A shortcut with the default name "Blackboard calibrate" will appear on the desktop when installing "Blackboard V3.0.exe" on the PC], the projector will project the icon shape on the left top corner of the whiteboard (icon1). Use fingers or other tools to click this center, the whiteboard will automatically recognize, and the same shape will appear on the right top corner. The same method can be used in the calibration of the right top corner (icon2), right bottom corner (icon 3), and left bottom corner(icon 4). 6

12 Calibration Tips: 1. If your brush or fingertip is not in the exact central dot, or you have the wrong click, or the next calibration appears even before you click, you need press the ESC button on the keyboard to quit or calibrate again after it, otherwise the brush or fingertip will not exactly correspond with the mouse. 2. While calibrating, the pen or fingertip need be vertical as much as possible with the board. 3. The interactive electronic whiteboard shall be calibrated in the following situations. A. The distance between the projector and the interactive electronic whiteboard changes; B. The drivers of the computer are re-installed; C. The resolution of the monitor changes Software Startup Under the procedure catalog of the menu [Start], select labotrix interactive blackboard in labotrix interactive blackboard or click the desktop shortcut( ) to start the software. 2.5 Control Panel Open Control Panel Aftersuccessfully installing the software, start the applicationsoftware that pops up the control panel, as shown below: 7

13 2.5.2 Use the control panel 1.Click Quick start on the control panel Click the "New Document", "Open Document", "Import PPT" buttons, the operation instructions can be found in Chapter 4 of this manual. "Remark Document" Function (1) Click the "Remark Document" button, a pop-up dialog box will be shown; (2) Choose the document from the pop-up dialog box, open it, and then remarks on the document; Activate Software (1) Click on the "Activate Software"button, pop-up dialog box as follows: (2) Enter the purchase of the product serial number, click Next, verify the following dialog box pops up as follows: 8

17 Chapter III Operating Modes 3.1 Teaching Mode Teaching mode, also demonstration mode, is mainly used in the classroom teaching, under which, the system interface will be very neat for writing and demonstration. The interface is as: 3.2 Design Mode Under the design mode, the system will provide varied interfaces (menu, toolbar etc) to help users quickly make electronic wall map as: 12

18 3.3 Annotation Mode Under the annotation mode, users can annotate on the computer screen as: 3.4 Control Mode Control mode, the user can annotate in real desktop, and allow interaction with the desktop,shown as below: 3.5 Modes Switch Switch to Teaching Mode Design mode: click View > Teaching Mode in the main menu Annotation Mode:Click Operating Mode > Teaching Mode in the menu 13

19 3.5.2 Switch to Design Mode Teaching Mode/ Annotation Mode/ Control Mode : Click View in the menu Mode or press F4 to enter into Design Mode. > Design Switch to Annotation Mode 1. Under the Design Mode:Click View in the main menu > Design Mode. 2. Under other Modes : Click Working Mode in the menu > Annotation Mode or Press F3 to enter into Annotation Mode Switch to Control Mode From Teaching Mode and Annotation Mode to Control Mode: Click and choose from submenu "Control Mode"; From Design Mode to Control Mode: Click "View" on the toolbar and choose "Control Mode" Notes to Touch-sensitive Operations 1) Click/ Double Click: Click/ Double click on the interactive electronic whiteboard surface is defined as the same operation(s) of the mouse left click/ double click as of Windows System. Note that Double Click shall fall on the same spot. 2) Drag: Use pointer or fingertip to touch any object projected on the screen and drag (Pointer or fingertip be in constant touch with the whiteboard surface.) to the desired position. 3) Write: In writing practice, choose the different types of pen to write on the projected area. Be careful that the gap between the pointer tip and the whiteboard surface be above 3mm to keep each stroke clear. If the cursor does not coincide with the touching spot on screen of the pointer, the calibration shall be done. 4) Mouse Right Click: Point and touch the whiteboard screen for more than 2 seconds, right click function is activated. 14

20 Chapter IV Files 4.1 Create File Create a new file. 1. Under the design mode, there are two ways: Click Create File in the standard toolbar. Click File > Create in the main menu. 2. Under the demonstration mode, there are two ways: Click ->File ->Create File Click Create File in the standard toolbar. 4.2 Open File Open a file previously saved, the supporting format for now: *.bbx, *.ppt, *.pptx, *.doc, *.docx, *.xls, *.xlsx, *.pdf. 1. Under the design mode, there are two ways: Click the drop-down icon on the left upper corner, find and click on "open" from the drop-down menu, "Open File" quick access icon will be shown on top of the toolbar as shown:. Click on the upper right corner icon and choose " Open to open an existing file. 2. Under the demonstration mode, there are two ways: Click ->File ->Open File. Click Open in the standard toolbar. 3. The Open window is popped up as: 15

Select the opening file, and click Open. 4.3 Save File The file is saved to the disk in the format of the whiteboard file for the reuse and the saving format are *.bbx, *.ppt, *.pptx, *.doc, *.docx, *.xls, *.xlsx, *.pdf. 1. Under the design mode, there are two ways: Click the drop-down icon on the left upper corner, find and click on "Save" from the drop-down menu, "Save" quick access icon will be shown on top of the toolbar as shown:. Click on the upper right corner icon and choose " Save to save a file. 2. Under the demonstration mode, there are two ways: Click -> File ->Save Click Save in the standard toolbar. 3. When the file is saved for the first time, the Save As window is popped up as: 16

Key in the file name either with the on-screen keyboard or with the physical keyboard connected to the computer, and click Save. 5.If the file is previously saved, the software will save the changes in the file and there is no need for the Save As window to pop up. 4.4 Save As The file is saved with a different name or to anther address. 1. Under the design mode, the way is: Click on the upper right corner icon and choose "Save As to save a file. 2. Under the demonstration mode, the way is : Click > File >Save As. 3. The Save As window is popped up as: 4. Key in the file name either with the on-screen keyboard or with the physical keyboard connected to the computer, and click Save As. 4.5 Import PPT File The file is imported as the *.ppt format without any change to the properties of the elements, for example, the texts and images are still texts and images after imported into the Labwe electronic whiteboard software. Users can choose between the powerpoint slides and edit the elements. 1. Under the design mode, the way is : Click on the upper right corner icon and choose "Import >Powerpoint (PPT) to import a PPT file. 2.The window is popped up as: 17

23 3.Select the PPT from "My Computer",and click Open on the pop-up dialogue box. 4.6 Export As Powerpoint File The file is exported as the *.ppt format,and users can choose a specific Powerpoint slide and edit the elements of the saved powerpoint. 1. Under the design mode, the way is to: Click on the upper right corner icon and choose "Export >Powerpoint (PPT) to export a PPT file. 2.The Save As window is popped up, together with the on-screen keyboard: 3.Select the path and name to export the ppt file, Key in the file name with on-screen keyboard and click Save 4.7 Export As Word File The file is exported as the *.doc format, and just one picture is shown on each page. Users can move on the page, but can not edit the single object. 1. Under the design mode, the way is: Click on the upper right corner icon and choose "Export >Word Document (Doc) to export the file as word format. 18

24 2. The Save As window is popped up, together with the on-screen keyboard: 3. Select the path and name to export the Doc file, Key in the file name with on-screen keyboard and click Save. 4.8 Export As Web Page File The file is exported as the *.html format, and just one picture is shown on each page for users to check in the WEB browser. 1. Under the design mode, the way is: Click on the upper right corner icon and choose "Export >Web Page (HTML) to export the file as *.html format. 2. The Save As window is popped up, together with the on-screen keyboard: 3. Select the path and name to export the web page file, Key in the file name with on-screen keyboard and click Save. 4.9 Export As Flash File The file is exported as the swf format for users to check in the flash player. Under the design mode, the way is: 19

25 Click on the upper right corner icon and choose "Export >Flash Document (SWF) to export the file as *.swf format. 2. The Save As window is popped up, together with the on-screen keyboard: 3. Select the path and name to export the *.SWF file, Key in the file name with on-screen keyboard and click Save Export As PDF File The file is exported as the pdf format for users to check in the PDF browser. 1. Under the design mode, the way is: Click on the upper right corner icon and choose "Export >PDF Document (PDF) to export the file as *.pdf format. 2. The Save As window is popped up as: 3. Select the path and name to export the PDF file, Key in the file name with on-screen keyboard and click Save Export As Picture File Export part or all the file into picture, or export the choosen part as Picture, there are three formate jpg, bmp, and png. 1. Under the design mode, the way is: 20

26 Click on the upper right corner icon and choose "Export >Images... to export the file as *.png format. 2.The Export as picture window is popped up as: 4. Choose the web or object, click confirm,the Save As window is popped up as: 4.Select the path and name to export the image file, Key in the file name with on-screen keyboard and click Save Print 1. Under the design mode, the way is: Click on the upper right corner icon and choose "Print >Quick Print to print the file. 2. The Print dialogue box is popped up as: 21

27 3. Select the corresponding printer, print range and number and click Yes to finish the printing operation Print Preview The print effect can be seen from the print preview. 1. Under the design mode, the way is: Click on the upper right corner icon and choose "Print >Print Preview to preview the print file, and the Print Preview window is popped up as: 2. If changes are needed, click Close to go back to the status before the preview; If changes are not needed, click Print to directly do the printing operation with the page. 3. Click Next Page or Previous Page to switch the pages. 4. Click Two Pages to preview two pages simultaneously. 5. Click Zoom In or Zoom Out to zoom the previewing pages Printing Setting Under the design mode, the way is: 1. Click File in the main menu -> Printing Setting,and the Printing Setting window is popped up as: 2. The printer, the printing paper, the printing attribute and the printing direction can be set. 3. Click Ok to finish the setting. 22

28 5.1 Select Object Chapter V Edit Selected Object This program is to enable the user to select the objects to be edited within the page. 1. Select one object: Under the design mode,the following three ways can be used to select a single object: 1) Select Select Object Button in the Standard Toolbar, and click the object to be selected. 2) Select Tool -> Object Selector in the Main Menu, then click the object to be selected. 3) Under the state of selecting,press on the cursor whiling drag out an area to enclose the object to be selected, and then release the push -button. Under the demonstration mode, the following three ways can be used to select a single object: 1) Select Select Object Button in the main Toolbar, and click the object to be selected. 2) Select Select Object Button in the Standard Toolbar, and click the object to be selected. 3) Under the state of selecting,press on the cursor whiling drag out an area to enclose the object to be selected, and then release the push -button. 2. Select multiple objects: Under the design mode,the following way can be used to select multiple objects: Under the state of selecting single object, press on the cursor whiling dragging out an area, all the objects within the area will be selected. Under the demonstration mode, the following way can be used to select multiple objects: Under the state of selecting single object, press on the cursor whiling dragging out an area, all the objects within the area will be selected. 3. Select all the object: Under the design mode, the following two ways can be used to select all the objects: 1) Click Edit > Select All in the Main Menu. 2) Click and drag out an area, and all the objects are enclosed in this area. Under the demonstration mode, the way to select all the objects is embodied as follows: Click and drag out an area, and all the objects are enclosed in this area. The state of image having been selected is as follows: 23

29 5.2 Copy To copy is to put the selected objects in internal Clipboard of the Electronic Whiteboard software, then paste it into the same page of the document. Only the latest copied object can be pasted. The specific procedures are introduced as follows: 1. Select the object to be copied. (Detailed procedure refers to the selected object) 2. The following way can be used to copy: Under the design mode, operate according to one of the following instructions: 1) Click Edit > Copy in the Main Menu. 2) Click the Copy Button in the Standard Toolbar. 3) Click the right Function Key of the object, and select copy in the pop-up menu. Under the demonstration mode, operate according to one of the following instructions: 1) Click the Copy Button in the Standard Toolbar. 2) Click the right Function Key of the object, and select copy in the pop-up menu. 5.3 Copy to Clipboard This part is to put the selected object in the clipboard of the system, and then it is pasted into other windows applications programs as images. The specific procedures are introduced as follows: 1. Select the object to be copied.(detailed procedure refers to the selected object) 2. The way to copy something to the clipboard is displayed as follows: Under the design mode, operate according to the following instruction: Click the right Function Key of the object, and select copy to clipboard in the pop-up menu. Under the demonstration mode, operate according to one of the following instructions: Click the right Function Key of the object, and select copy to clipboard in the pop-up menu. 5.4 Cut Cut is to remove the selected object from the current page and put it into the internal clipboard of the Electronic Whiteboard software, then paste it into the same page of document. Only the latest cut object can be used to be pasted. The specific procedures are introduced as follows: 1. Pitch on the object to be cut(detailed procedure refers to the selected object) 2. To cut as follows: Under the design mode, operate according to one of the following instructions: 1) Click Edit > Cut in the Main Menu. 2) Click the right Function Key of the object, and select cut in the pop-up menu. Under the demonstration mode, operate according to the following instruction: Click the right Function Key of the object, and select cut in the pop-up menu. 24

30 5.5 Paste To paste is to insert the latest copied or cut object into the current page, that is, to paste the object in the internal clipboard of the Electronic Whiteboard into the current page. The specific procedures are introduced as follows: 1. Under the design mode, operate according to one of the following instructions: Click Edit > Paste in the Main Menu. Click Paste Button in the Standard Toolbar. Click the right Function Key of the object, and select Paste in the pop-up menu. 2. Under the demonstration mode, operate according to one of the following instructions: Click Paste Button in the Standard Toolbar. Click the right Function Key of the object, and select Paste in the pop-up menu. 5.6 Paste from Clipboard Paste from Clipboard is a process to insert objects cut or copied from other windows application programs into the current page, that is,to paste the object in the system clipboard into the current page. The specific procedures are introduced as follows: 1. Under the design mode, operate according to the following instruction: Click the right Function Key of the object, and select Paste from Clipboard in the pop-up menu. 2. Under the demonstration mode, operate according to the following instruction: Click the right Function Key of the object, and select Paste from Clipboard in the 5.7 Clone pop-up menu. To clone is to create an identical object next to the selected one, and the specific procedures are introduced as follows: 1. Pitch on the object to be cloned.(detailed procedure refers to the selected object) 2. Cloning can be done as follows: Under the design mode, operate according to one of the following instructions: 1) Click Edit > Clone in the Main Menu. 2) Click the right Function Key of the object, and select Clone in the pop-up menu. Under the demonstration mode, operate according to the following instruction: Click the right Function Key of the object, and select Clone in the pop-up menu. 25

31 5.8 Unlimited Clone Unlimited clone is to create multiple identical objects through dragging, and the specific procedures are introduces as follows: 1. Pitch on the object to be cloned.(detailed procedure refers to the selected object) 2. The following ways can be used to perform unlimited clone: Under the design mode, operate according to the following instruction: Click the right Function Key of the object, and select Unlimited Clone in the pop-up menu. Under the demonstration mode, operate according to the following instruction: Click the right Function Key of the object, and select Unlimited Clone in the pop-up menu. 3. Press down the cursor and pull it to any area, thus a cloning is done. 4. Many cloning can be accomplished through repeating 3 (above) 5.9 Undo To undo can be used to undo the latest editing or order of command, and the specific procedures are as follows: 1. Under the design mode, operate according to one of the following instructions: Click Undo Button in the Standard Toolbar. Click Edit > Undo in the Main Menu. 2. Under the demonstration mode, operate according to one of the following instructions: Click Undo Button in the Standard Toolbar. Click Undo Button in the Main Toolbar Redo To redo can restore the latest undone editing or the order of command, and the specific procedures are introduced as follows: 1. Under the design mode, operate according to one of the following instructions: Click Redo Button in the Standard Toolbar. Click Edit > Redo in the Main Menu. 2. Under the demonstration mode, operate according to one of the following instructions: Click Redo Button in the Standard Toolbar. Click Redo Button in the main Toolbar Delete To delete is to remove the selected object, and the specific procedures are introduced as follows: 1. Pitch on the part to be deleted 26

32 2. Under the design mode, operate according to one of the following instructions: Click the Delete Button in the Tiny Menu. Click the Editor in the Main Menu > Delete. Click the right Function Key of the object, and select the Delete Button in the pop-up menu. 3. Under the demonstration mode, operate according to one of the following instructions: Move the object to be deleted to. Click the right Function Key of the object, and select the Delete Button in the pop-up menu. Click the Delete Button in the Standard Toolbar Move To move is to move the selected object within the page, and specific operations are as follows: 1. Pitch on the object to be moved.(detailed procedure refers to the selected object) 2. Move the cursor while pressing on the object Reverse To reverse is to turn the selected object horizontally or vertically within the page, and specific operations are as follows: 1. Pitch on the object to be rotated.(detailed procedure refers to the selected object) 2. Under the design mode, operate according to one of the following instructions: Click Image in the Main Menu > Rotate. Click the right Function Key of the object,and select Reverse in the pop-up menu. Click the Button in the Ranking and Arranging Toolbar 3. Under the demonstration mode, operate according to one of the following instructions: Click the right Function Key of the object,and select Rotate in the pop-up menu. Click the Button in the Ranking and Arranging Toolbar. 27

33 5.14 Rotate To rotate is to spin the selected object within the page, and the specific procedures are as follows: 1. Pitch on the object to be rotated. (Detailed procedure refers to the selected object). 2. Under the design mode,operate according to one of the following instructions: Press on the rotating point,spin whiling pressing on the cursor. Click Image in the Main Menu > Rotate. Click the right Function Key of the object,and select Rotate in the pop-up menu. 3.
