The INFOLOG unit, an infrared optical head, solid state disk (flash) containing the software program for INFOLOG, a CD with software program for data transfer from INFOLOG to PC, a 9 pol. 0-modem cable and a copy of the Operating Manual. The hand-held terminal type PSION (Workabout MX) ("INFOLOG"), is used to read-out the actual values, account values or monthly data of Siemens flow measuring units of the SITRANS F US ultrasonic flowmeter types SONOCELL and SONO 3301 ("SITRANS F US 105") and transfer data into e.g. an Excel spread sheet for further data processing. The read-out can be made by use of infrared optical head (order No. FDK-087H0108). In addition to read-outs, the INFOLOG can be used for changing customer numbers, SONOCELL and SONO 3301 account date and read-out/reset of error codes. 1.1 System requirements Windows 98, Windows 2000 and Windows XP 5 MB after installation As a standard the SONOCELL Data Transfer Programme (SDTP) will be distributed on CD with install shield based installation package and the software for INFOLOG will be distributed on static flash. 2 SFIDK.PS.029.D1.02

3 2. Quick start 2. Quick start When you receive a complete set from Siemens the unit is almost ready for use. In order to protect batteries from leaking into the INFOLOG at storage, the 2 batteries and the lithium cell are added separately. 1. Open the slot by pressing the tab 2. Insert the 2 x 1.5 V penlight batteries in the INFOLOG and insert the back-up lithium cell 3. Insert the flash solid state disk in "drive A" The software program on the flash now has to be copied to the INFOLOG. 1. Switch on the INFOLOG by pressing 2. SHIFT + DEL + On/Esc The program will start installing the software on your terminal. When asked: YES 3. "Stop link?" Press and wait for the program to continue 4. "Create M\OVD" Press YES and wait for the program to start 5. The program is now installed on your INFOLOG and the display shows To get a general understanding of the INFOLOG functionality review the INFOLOG menu structure at Appendix A. 2.1 Collect data F1 Connect the optical eye to SONOCELL or SONO Pressing F1 starts data collection - and a bar code indicates the status. A small beep indicates the INFOLOG has received data successfully. Costumer number and total accumulated volume are then displayed - indicating that INFOLOG has stored data successfully. The INFOLOG can store up to 1500 readings. View data (F2) may be slow due to the high data capacity when approx. 400 readings have been made. Note Users in F1 mode are only allowed to read accumulated values as preset under the menu F4. As default the INFOLOG is set to data collect and actual data. 2.2 View data F2 is used to view data. F2 By using the following arrows it is possible to scroll through the collected data. As the values are relatively small in the display, it is possible to enlarge the digits by pressing ENTER whenever the digits are highlighted. SFIDK.PS.029.D1.02 3

4 2. Quick start 2.3 Transfer data to PC F3 To export the data from the INFOLOG to the PC the software programme (SDTP.exe) should be installed. Install the software program as described in chapter 4. The cable supplied with INFOLOG is a 0-modem cable. Start the program and ensure the INFOLOG is in "F3" mode in order to establish communication to the PC. Activate "Download data from INFOLOG" and data will now be transferred. (If this was the first time to use the program you may have to activate the same function again). A red wire between the INFOLOG and the PC icon indicates that connection is established. Data will normally be stored on your PC under folder: (Installation directory) doc\data.csv. Note To save disk space on INFOLOG, users should delete the old data file after transferring it to PC. A new file will be created for new data. Before starting the deleted operation, users are asked to enter the INFOLOG password. This will limit the use of this operation to permitted users. 4 SFIDK.PS.029.D1.02

5 2. Quick start 2.4 Set-up mode F4 This mode is password protected. F4 gives you the following possibilities: ApplicationSelect This menu offers the following choices: DataCollect Mode - the INFOLOG is used only as a datalogger, without any possibilities for set-up of data. ServiceMode - opens for change/views of: 1. Read-out of actual values, account values, monthly values (previous 24 months). 2. Error code, customer number, account date and SONOCELL and SONO 3301 (SITRANS F US 105) date and time adjust. See chapter 3 for further information regarding choices in service mode. DataSelect This menu offers the following choices: Actual data: This data includes: Customer number, serial no., total volume, hour counter, peak flow in the actual month, SONOCELL and SONO date and time, error code. Date/time of INFOLOG. Account A data: The same types of data as above but this data represents the accumulated values at preset read off date. Communication The menu contains 3 choices: Data reading port: Is set by default "A". Communication rate: Is set by default to 300. SONOCELL and SONO 3301 supports only 300 baud whenever communication is via the optical eye. Data transfer to PC port: Must be set to "A" (If used with dokingsstation the set port to "C"). ChangePassword This provides dialog to change the password of INFOLOG. Time date adjust This provides the functionality to adjust date and time of the INFOLOG. SW Version Displays the software version in the INFOLOG. SFIDK.PS.029.D1.02 5

6 3. Service menu 3. Service Menu To set the INFOLOG into the service mode follow the following steps: (refer to appendix A). 1. Press F4. 2. A password dialog will be displayed. Enter INFOLOG password then press Enter. 3. Press Menu and a menu-bar will be displayed as shown in "Set-up" paragraph. 4. Highlight the "Application Set-up" and press Enter. 5. In "Application Select" dialog select "Server mode" by using the arrow keys and press Enter. Now the INFOLOG is enabled to be set in service mode. 6. Press F1 to enter the service mode (Shown in the next 2 figures) In service mode the INFOLOG is able to read different type of data. Use arrows required data type: Actual readings Account A Month-1, months-2, months-3..months-24. Select Menu to enter into service menu Use the arrows to scroll up/down in menu. to select In general readings and changing settings will take a 30 seconds. In the bottom of the display a status line indicates the actual commands when using the service menu. Use arrows and "del" and keypads to enter new settings. Note To erase digits under the item write, move the curser using the arrows so that the curser is flashing behind the digit. Use del to change or erase digits. 3.1 Error status Select menu Enter READ RESET ESC reads the actual error code resets all error codes escape from error status F: represents no failure. The failure code is represented with F3 and F5 depending on failure type. F3: Internal fault F5: Volume flow exceeds the preset Qs value. 6 SFIDK.PS.029.D1.02

Example: Customer number: = software version 25 = production week 3 = year = represents serial number Maximum customer number length: 8 digits Whenever changing the SITRANS F US 105 customer number you are prompted to insert the password. 3.3 Account day Select menu Enter READ WRITE ESC reads the account date enter new day/months (alteration of account date requires SONOCELL and SONO 3301 passwords) escape from account day dialog 3.4 SITRANS F US 105 time Select menu/sitrans F US 105 time Enter READ reads the actual time in hours and minutes WRITE type new hour: minutes (hh:nn) ESC escape from SITRANS F US 105 time dialog Note SONOCELL and SONO 3301 uses the actual time and date to store any failures. It is recommended that the real time clock is set correctly. If INFOLOG is set correctly with hh::nn--dd/mm/yyyy this will appear in the display. (See chapter 2.4). 3.5 SITRANS F US 105 date Select menu/sitrans F US 105 date Enter READ reads the actual day/month/year WRITE type new date (day/month/year) (dd.mm.yy) ESC escape from SONOCELL and SONO 3301 date Note SONOCELL and SONO 3301 uses the actual time/date to store any failures. It is recommended the real time clock is set correctly. If INFOLOG is set correctly with time/minutes/day/months/year this will appear in the display. (See chapter 2.4). SFIDK.PS.029.D1.02 7

Installing the data transfer software on your PC 4.1 Running the data transfer software program Insert CD in your computer and this will auto-start the installation program Follow the instruction on your screen This will install "SDTP" program on your computer and all necessary subdirectories. It will also create 2 short-cuts: one on your program files and one on the desktop. Double click this short-cut to run the SONOCELL data transfer program. The created directories are: "Data" directory: Holds the data transfer from INFOLOG "Doc" directory: License.txt and infolist.txt files "HTSW" directory: Includes the upgrade of INFOLOG software The easiest way to start the program is to double click the short-cut made by the installation program on your desktop or on the program menu (start\programs\infolog\sdtp). A connection indicator will appear on the right corner on your screen (Tool menu) trying to connect. Connection is made when this indicator shows a sine wave. To exit the program press quit. The sine wave will be a horizontal line indicating that the program is ready to reconnect when it is reactivated. Right click the icon indicator to disconnect, reconnect or terminate the link between the hand terminal and PC. Press the "Download Data from INFOLOG" button to copy data from INFOLOG to PC. If the connection is not already established, it will be established and the data file will be transferred. In case of a connection error the function will terminate and the button should be repressed when the connection is established. If the file exists you can choose to rename the file, overwrite the old copy or cancel the operation. 4.2 Storage of data Data will normally be stored under the (installation)folder: doc\data.csv. 4.3 Update software It is possible to download the latest new SONOCELL data transfer program via our homepage First you have downloaded the SONOCELL data transfer program on your PC. It is possible then to update/install the INFOLOG software program. Install the software on your INFOLOG from the SONOCELL data transfer program: Press "download program for INFOLOG". The program will give you the following message to guide you through the software update: 8 SFIDK.PS.029.D1.02

Update software: Be sure that INFOLOG is in F3 mode and continue the installation by pressning on Ok. 2. First time installation (no software program in the INFOLOG (Virgin unit)). This means that F3 is not active, and the INFOLOG has to be set-up into a "Link" mode where it is possible to communicate with the PC. Set-up of INFOLOG in "Link" mode: 1. Push On/Esc to start PSION device 2. Press Menu and select command processor and press Enter 3. M>\ appears in the display 4. Press Menu and use to step to the menu "Special" 5. Select remote link followed by Enter 6. By use of select "On" and "port A" followed by Enter 7. INFOLOG is now ready to receive the software program from the PC. Installing the data transfer software on your PC 4.3 Update software (continued) Following the instruction above complete the update of the INFOLOG software and the following picture will be present: 4.4 Uninstalling Uninstalling the program Closing the program and related programs From control panel\removesw\uninstall the program Answer yes to remove the unused dll s, and check the box to avoid the same message from re-appearing It may be necessary to manually remove some of the copied files 5. Trouble shooting 5.1 No communication between PC and INFOLOG Ensure that the data transfer cable is connected between the PC and INFOLOG Ensure that INFOLOG is in F3 mode Ensure that the cable is a 0-modem cable The connection between INFOLOG and PC is indicated by the redline between their icons Set link to the connected port A (in F4 menu) 5.2 Program re-load/ re-start The software in the INFOLOG is suitable to all kind of input. If you need to re-start the program carry out the following to preserve data: Software reset (shift+del+on), this will re-load the program and run the exe file Re-install the program (see chapter 4.3) 5.3 Data.csv file in Microsoft Excel If the format of the data in the Excel sheet is not displayed correctly, try the following in Excel: Mark the first column and press text to columns in data menu Ensure delimited is marked in the convert text to columns wizard step 1 of 3 and press Next Insure "Comma" check box is marked in step 2 and press Next Mark column "General\Total\Volume" and press on Advanced Set decimal separator to "." and thousands separator to "," and press OK Press Finish To align all data to the left do the following: Mark all the data by pressing on the left upper corner Click the mouse right button and chose format cells from pop up menu Chose Alignment in the Text alignment chose left in the horizontal box Note: The data is transferred in ASCII format with "." as decimal separator. 6.
