1 Putting Examview Tests and Quizzes into MOODLE Courses 1. Create your test or quiz using examview and save your test bank into the file you want to save it to on your computer. 2. Click on "File" in the top menu, scroll down to the "Export" area, and then select Blackboard (any blackboard file other than Blackboard 6+ will work) 3. Save this zip file also in the computer file of your choice. 4. A dialogue window will appear for you to put in your name, description and other info. Fill this out as necessary and select OK.

2 5. Set up your quiz/test within Moodle as you would with any other test on Moodle, set your grade comments and all of that as you wish and then select "Save and display" 6. Click on the Test/Quiz within your MOODLE course. 7. When this comes up click on the "Edit tab" toward the top middle of the screen. 8. Click on "Import" just below the tabs you just clicked on. 9. Select "Blackboard (not Blackboard V6+)" in the file format box. 10. Scroll then to the bottom and in the last dialogue field labeled " Import from file already in course files..." click on "Choose or upload a file".

3 11. A new window will appear and you should be able to click on "Upload a file" in the lower right corner of the window. Select the.zip file that you just saved from Examview and upload it. 12. Your.zip file should show up now in that window and to the right an option should say unzip. Select the unzip button and the window will tell you that a.dat and a.xml file were unzipped. Click ok

4 13. Select the.dat file and click on the "Choose" button to the right of it. 14. Now that file is listed and ready for you to click "Import from this file" in your original Moodle window. 15. The entire quiz or test has now been brought into MOODLE Scroll to the bottom and click the continue button. If the quiz/test was brought in as a single question follow these instructions: 16. The quiz/test is there now under the questions tab, but it is missing a name so click on the edit button next to that question and add a name to the "question". 17. Now that it shows up with a name, click on the "Quiz" tab and move the newly named question "aka-your examview test" into your moodle quiz. It should be ready to go now! If the quiz/test was brought in as multiple questions follow these instructions: 18. Click on the Quiz tab and click select all towards the bottom. Now move all of the questions into your MOODLE quiz.

5 When your questions have images... If your test/quiz questions have images from Exam View, there are a few extra steps that you have to do in order to get images to show up on Moodie. 1. Go to the place on your computer where you originally saved your.zip test file. (Most likely in My Documents somewhere). 2. Unzip the files in this location as well. (You may have unzipped it on Moodie already, but you have to do it on your computer in order to reconnect your image links.) You can do this by right clicking on the file and then select extract all 3. Your files have now been unzipped on your computer as well. Go back to Moodie and open your quiz by clicking on it in order to edit your quiz. 4. Find a question that has an image missing (this is best done in the preview tab images will show up as a red x) and click on the "edit" link next to that specific question.

6 5. Your question editing page should now be up with the question name fields at the top and then the actual question field below that. Your image is missing, and there should be an "X" with the alternate text name appearing next to the "X. Keep note of what that alternate text is. Click on the image to select it and then on the tool bar above it find and click on the insert image button. 6. A new window has now popped up with selection options. At the bottom you should see the browse button. Click on this button and navigate on your computer documents to your unzipped test files. Click through each unzipped folder until you finally get to all of your images from that test. You can now select the image that is matches the alternate text in your question and it will show up next to the browse and upload buttons.

8 7. Click upload. The picture file is now in your moodle files. Click on that image link in the top window. The image URL will show up on the top line. In the alternate text field type in the image name as it appears next to that "X" in step 5 and click OK. Your image should now appear in the text field and when you save the question it will be ready for your test. This is a tedious process and you may have several images you may have to reconnect within a single question or even within different answers to the question, but once it is on MOODLE it is there for good unless you choose to delete it.
