The Toshiba TCx Display family provides an intuitive touch interface for both retail associates and customers, increasing efficiency and speed, reducing training time and associate errors, and creating a unique and differentiated checkout experience. The Models 5CR and 5CD offer wide 16:9 display form factor 39.6 cm diagonal (15.6 in.) and are designed to match TCxWave TM systems. Projected Capacitive (PCap) multitouch technology provides an innovative, intuitive user interface. Many of the touch gestures used on smart phones and other devices are supported by these displays. Digital inputs include DisplayPort, VGA, USB, and Powered USB, enabling retailers to migrate to new attachment technologies while preserving their existing solutions. Unintentional touch rejection feature eliminates errors from unintentional contact. Environmentally sustainable technologies: Enabled for S3 deep sleep automation reduces energy consumption Manufactured from recycled materials Rated at 20 W maximum power usage LED backlight reduces energy consumption Forward-facing integrated stereo speakers enable multimedia, advertising, and training. 1

2 Flashable firmware updates and systems management (RMA) support make these displays easy to manage. Audio Feedback for Touch confirmation reduces training time and increases accuracy. Optional features can be easily attached to the displays: MSR Other USB connected devices Overview As retailers seek ways to meet the unique expectations of consumers, the point-ofsale is quickly evolving into a point-of-service. The ubiquity of the worldwide web and the pervasiveness of mobile handsets, netbooks, and laptop PCs give consumers near limitless access to on-demand products, information, and services. Retailers are focused on strengthening customer advocacy, but transaction speed, accuracy, and a personalized shopping experience are no longer differentiators; they are business imperatives. Toshiba TCx Displays are a new family of flat panel touch displays that are designed to give retail associates and their customers an intuitive multitouch interface. The advanced technologies incorporated in these displays can help increase efficiency and speed, reduce training time and associate errors, and create a unique and differentiated checkout experience. This TCx Display incorporates a 16:9 display form factor (39.6 cm, (15.6 in.) diagonal) and design elements that match award-winning TCxWave systems. New multitouch technology, projected capacitance (PCap), provides users with an intuitive interface that they have come to expect from modern touch display devices. The new family of displays incorporates environmentally-friendly LED backlight technology plus many additional power-saving features, and they use recycled plastics in their construction. These TCx Display models can be deployed as interactive cashier displays, for multimedia-operator training, for full-motion video advertising, and as interactive customer displays. New DisplayPort technology, also available with TCxWave and other newer systems, is included in these models. VGA input is also provided, enabling connection to virtually any PC or point-of-sale system. Both standard and powered USB interfaces are provided for the touch screen, optional MSR, integrated audio, and attachment of other devices. Powered USB eliminates the need for separate power adapters and improves cable management. Available in Raven Black color, these models are color-matched with Toshiba TCxWave system units. The following level of drivers will support the TCx Display models: UPOS , or higher (includes OPOS, JavaPOS) 1 TCx Displays will be supported by a 4690 V6R4 and CSD #00E0 and later versions. Earlier versions of 4690 will not support the new displays; that means an OS update is required before adding TCx Displays to any existing 4690 system configuration. The functional details are provided in the Limitations section for each subsystem of the new displays. Refer to Key prerequisites section. Video: Touch: TCx Displays will be supported in their native resolution of 1366 x 768; However the usable screen area will be limited in some cases to that of a 4:3 aspect ratio screen, 1024 x 768. Applications that run directly on Linux such as Expediter, a browser, or Java6 applications will have access to the full screen. Legacy 4690 applications will only have access to the 4:3 portion identified above. Only single touch functionality is currently supported under the 4690 OS. Multitouch functionality is not currently supported. Touch Config: 4690 will provide capability to download touch configuration files. There are 6

7 no user configuration items so 4690 will not create these files. A downloadable utility will be made available for this purpose. POS-Tone: The POS-Tone interface will be supported; however, it is supported as a POS Keyboard not as an independent Tone device. If there is a POS keyboard in the system, the tone device associated with that keyboard will be used rather than the TCx Display POS-Tone. USB Audio: USB Audio is not supported by 4690 OS. DP Audio: DP Audio is not supported by 4690 OS. Firmware Update: Firmware updates will be supported for all monitor firmware components: Monitor Configuration: -- Touch Control -- Monitor Management and IO Control -- Control Panel -- LCD Control -- MSR Option -- Download of a monitor configuration file will be supported. 8 Warranty service On-site Service (OSR) service 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, same-day response. Model 5CR On-site Service or your reseller will either repair or exchange the failing machine at your location and verify its operation. You must provide a suitable working area to allow disassembly and reassembly of the failed machine. The are must be clean, well lit, and suitable for the purpose. For some machines, certain repairs may require sending the machine to a service center. Depot Service Model 5CD At Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions's discretion, customers will disconnect the failing eligible machine for collection arranged by Toshiba. Toshiba will provide you with a shipping container and prepaid return label for you to return your eligible machine to a designated service center or country defined Pick Up Drop Off location. Following its repair or exchange, Toshiba will arrange the return delivery of the eligible machine to your location. You are responsible for its installation and verification. Upon receipt at the Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions depot repair center, your malfunctioning Eligible Machine is repaired within five business days and shipped for delivery to your specified location the next business day. The five business day measurement begins when failing eligible machine is received at the depot location. Non-Toshiba parts service Warranty service Toshiba is now shipping machines with selected non-toshiba parts that contain an Toshiba field replaceable unit (FRU) part number label. These parts are to be serviced during the Toshiba machine warranty period. Toshiba is covering the service on these selected non-toshiba parts as an accommodation to their customers, and normal warranty service procedures for the Toshiba machine apply. Warranty service upgrades Model 5CD During the warranty period, warranty service upgrades provide an enhanced level of On-site Service for an additional charge. Service levels are response-time objectives and are not guaranteed. See the Warranty services section for additional details. Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions will attempt to resolve your problem over the telephone or electronically by access to an Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions website. Certain machines contain remote support capabilities for direct problem reporting, remote problem determination, and resolution with Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions. You must follow the problem determination and resolution procedures that Toshiba specifies. Following problem determination, if Toshiba determines on-site service is required, scheduling of service will depend upon the time of your call, machine technology and redundancy, and availability of parts.
