1 CT70 EVM - B board APN Overview The CT-70 serial chip is a high performance single chip digital audio bridge with sample rate converter. It supports the DSD I/F and DoP on S/PDIF input/output channels. The Hardware and Software control mode are available on this chip. The CT70_EVM_B is a general function audio evaluation system. The S/PDIF, IS, DSD/DOP, SRC, DAC and MCU control are combined on this board. This architecture is simple to verify and apply CT70 family chip to any audio system product. 4 CT70 EVM - B board APN External connector setting Power Connector: J0 is the system power input port. The +V and GND pin provides power to this EVM board and the suggestion power supply is large than 00mA. Audio signal connector: To apply to different system application and meet fit the mechanical dimension, the Audio input / output port only reserve pad for users. User can select different type Coaxial / Optical connector depends on their requirement.. The default SPDIF input ports are set to optical ports (J, J) and coaxial ports (J, J and J7). User also can adjust the component to change each port function.. There are IS (JP7, JP8) and DSD (JP9) input port on CT70 EVM-B board. There is no special circuit requirement on these paths and the MCLK clock input is unnecessary for CT70 serial chip.. There is an IS audio DAC embedded on this EVM board. This is the suggestion audio output port and the performance is up to SNR 0 db and THD+N 9dB.. The IS and DSD output are reserved for user to connect to another device to process the audio signal. SPDIF input interface: Each SPDIF input port has reserved the pull high and pull low resistors space for this application. See figure for detail. The V+, S and G pad are used for signal connecting. The input signal connect to S pad and into chip S/PDIF input pin via Ω resistor and 0.uF capacitor and pull high/low resistors RH/RL can be used for circuit matching. 5 CT70 EVM - B board APN All of these three pins are used when S/PDIF input port is Optical type connector. The recommend RH resistor value is 0Ω to enhance the optical response and the RL is disconnected. Figure. 6 SPDIF output interface: CT70 EVM - B board APN The general S/PDIF output circuit is different depends on the connector type. CT70 EVM-B board reserves the necessary resistor and capacitor placement for user to modify their system application as Figure 7. Figure7. General circuit for S/PDIF output port There is a S/PDIF output pin at CT70 serial chip. This EVM board uses this pin to drive coaxial and optical connector at the same time. 7 Function hardware control switch CT70 EVM - B board APN There are two hardware control switch on this EVM board: Input source and Output frequency select on. Each control pin has similar circuit like figure 8. User can use jumper to set the related pin s signal level is high or low to define the selection. The SELx pin is set to high when this pin is shorted; otherwise the level keeps to low. VDD PIN SELx 0KΩ Figure8. 8 Output frequency select: CT70 EVM - B board APN The default SRC mode on this board is set to mode and it can select output frequency from Look Up Table directly. The index and setting of output frequency is described at Table. 9 CT70 EVM - B board APN Firmware control MCU: The on system 80 MCU can be used by user to develop their audio system. LED GPO and Jumper level detect GPI pins are reserve for system control. The ISP and UART port also ready for firmware update and communicate with PC command. Advance function: There are two functions are implemented on this EVM board: S/PDIF bit output and DSD/DOP convert to PCM. It use MCU GPI pins to achieve this application. The DSD to PCM function is enabled when P07 is shorted and disabled when it is open. And the SPDIF bit output mode is enabled when P0 is shorted. SPDIF bit DSD/DOP To PCM Figure. 10 CT70 EVM - B board APN IC control path: The jumper (J) connect MCU s IC pin to CT70 to access register. The default setting of these jumpers is shorted. User can disconnect these jumpers and control CT70 by external controller by IC paths. External IC Access path Figure.
