3 Introduction 1 Introduction This version is applicable to all Pilot RCU 2.0 devices (including single-core, dual-core, and quadcore RCU devices). Pilot RCU 2.0 is an automatic data collection and measurement probe that is mainly used for daily network quality monitoring, voice and data services verification, and benchmarking. It consists of variety of test modules supporting multiple network standards. Pilot RCU 2.0 provides a built-in data processing platform and modularized design with high performance and stability, with low power consumption. The following figure is an image of a Pilot RCU 2.0: 1

4 New Features 2 New Features New Functions Cell Lock within LTE This version supports LTE cell lock (in idle mode) for network testing such as single site verification, potential cell problem diagnosis, and others. Supported test services include FTP Download, FTP Upload, HTTP Download, HTTP Upload, Ping, and PBM. Currently, this function is only supported by the R1528 module. See the figure below: Figure 2.1 Cell lock settings on the Pilot Fleet Unify Note: Users need to conduct the cell lock settings on Pilot Fleet Unify, and all LTE handover will be disabled during this cell lock. Interoperability Test between EVDO and LTE Based on the CDMA1X/EVDO network performance, two EVDO/LTE interoperability tests are possible. 1. Simultaneous Voice and LTE (SVLTE): The terminal can use both 2G/3G and LTE networks at the same time. The voice services are provided by the 2G while the data services are provided by the LTE or 2G/3G network. In this solution, the terminal needs to have two radios (RFIC + RF) that are on simultaneously, which may lead to high power consumption. 2. Single Radio LTE (SRLTE): The terminal can support multiple wireless communication technologies, such as 2G/3G and LTE, but only one wireless network at any given time. The 2

5 New Features terminal can be connected on the LTE wireless network for data services and can interrupt the connection to the LTE wireless network to communicate with the CDMA wireless network for voice services. In this solution, the terminal needs only one radio to receive or transmit signals. Pilot RCU 2.0 supports the SRLTE solution, which uses internal test module as well as SVLTE solution that uses external commercial handsets (e.g. Samsung S5) for interoperability test between EVDO and LTE. Update the firmware data set and decoding library to solve the problem where the test program may crash during CSFB service test. 2. Fix the bug where the.rcu logfile cannot be partitioned during Idle test. 3. Fix the bug where the event of "Out of Service" for test modules may be incorrectly defined by modifying the condition for the event. 4. Fix the bug where the value of some LTE parameter (e.g. Work Mode, DL Bandwidth, PIC, MCC) may be blank after.rcu logfile partition. 5. Update the HTTP Page library to solve the problem wheret the HTTP Page service test is always dropped within the 2G network technology, Improvements: 1. Supports large file size for test plans (config.txt more than 64 KB). 2. Generate.rcu logfiles only within the test plan s time range. 3. Improve the Bluetooth GPS control process. 4. Update the Video Play service test process to improve the test stability. 5. Update the PBM service test process to improve the test stability. 6. Modify the service library s log file deletion mechanism so that logfiles can be deleted by the service library. 4
