3 Indicator Related 1 Indicator Related 1.1 Description of Indicators The description about the indicators is as follows: PWR: If this indicator turns blue, it indicates external power supply; if this indicator turns green, it indicates built-in battery power supply. BAT.: This indicator is usually off. If the built-in battery power capacity is low, it turns red with alarm. MODULE: If the test is normal, it turns green. If the test is completed and log files are uploading, it blinks in green. If there is no test, it is off. If an exception occurs (e.g. module initiation failure), it turns red. MODEM: If the modem operates normally, it blinks in green. If the modem cannot connect to the server, it turns green. If the modem operates abnormally, it turns red. SYS: If the system operates normally, it blinks in green. If there s an error (e.g. DSP sound card detection failure) with the system, it turns red. GPS: If the GPS module operates normally, it blinks in green. If there is no GPS signal, it turns green. If the GPS module operates abnormally, it turns red. 1.2 Why isn't the system indicator lit after Pilot RCU Light starts? It indicates that the Pilot RCU Light did not start normally or pass the self-verification. The possible reason is that the power module is abnormal or a hardware problem occurs. In this case, users may contact DingLi technical personnel for support. 1.3 Why does the system light turn red after Pilot RCU Light starts? It indicates that no power module problem or hardware problem occurs. The possible reason is 1

4 Indicator Related that the system is abnormal or the CF card is damaged or in poor connection. 1.4 Why does the Modem indicator turn red or green? 1. If the Modem indicator turns red, it indicates that the dial-up is not successful. The possible reasons are as follow: The device dial-up configuration may be incorrect. Users need to verify the RAS dial-up configuration on the Fleet Unify and the dial-up configuration file in Pilot RCU Light. In this case, users may contact DingLi technical personnel for support. If all the configuration is correct, users may check if the SIM card is damaged or the SIM card is not registered with data service. The Modem module may be damaged or the Modem antenna may be connected improperly. In this case, users may contact DingLi technical personnel for support. 2. If the Modem indicator turns green but does not blink, it indicates that the dial-up is successful but the Pilot RCU Light cannot connect with Fleet Unify. Users may check the following items: Check if the server_ip value in the config.xml file of Pilot RCU Light is the same with the server IP of Fleet Unify and if the port number is correct. Check if the Fleet Unify server is upgrading or under maintenance. In this case, users may contact DingLi technical personnel for support. 2

5 Hardware Related 2 Hardware Related 2.1 Description of SIM Card Slot Users may use the SIM card slot based on the following description: 1. It is recommended to use Micro SIM cards. 2. The mapping relationship between the SIM card slot and channel is: SIM card slot 1-9 corresponding to CH1-CH9. 3. Open the cover of the slot at the bottom of the RCU, users may see nine SIM/UIM slots (the number of slots may be different based on the number of modules of Pilot RCU Light). Insert the SIM card into the slot, close the cover to fix the SIM card. After commissioning, close the cover at the bottom and fix it firmly with screw. Note: Micro SIM card is recommended. Other kinds of SIM cards may damage the SIM card slots. 2.2 Where is the Pilot RCU Light antenna? The Pilot RCU Light is developed with built-in antennas. Each test module is configured with dual-antenna, and all antennas are deployed on the front, back, left, and right sides of the Pilot RCU Light. 2.3 How long can Pilot RCU Light work only with batteries? Pilot RCU Light supports service test with built-in battery, which enables the device to continuously work for at least 180 minutes. Pilot RCU Light with both built-in and external batteries can work continuously for at least 10 hours. 3

6 Hardware Related 2.4 What is the usage of Pilot RCU Light USB port? The USB port can be used as an interface to connect external devices such as Bluetooth GPS and WiFi LAN card. 2.5 Does Pilot RCU Light support GPS? Pilot RCU Light supports both built-in GPS and Bluetooth GPS. 2.6 How can users power off Pilot RCU Light? There are two methods to power off Pilot RCU Light. 1. Press and hold the power key for five seconds. The device will be forced to power off. This method may cause loss of data files generated in the last several minutes. 2. Press the power key, and a user prompt asking whether to turn off the device is displayed. Click the up/down key to select YES, and then press the Enter key for power off. 2.7 Why does Pilot RCU Light module restart repeatedly? The possible reasons are as follows: No SIM card is inserted in the SIM card slot and the corresponding module is not disabled. The SIM card is inserted with poor connection and the corresponding module is not disabled. 2.8 What is the difference between Pilot RCU Light 3.0 and Pilot RCU Light 2.0? 1. The CPU between Pilot RCU Light 3.0 and Pilot RCU Light 2.0 are different. 2. Pilot RCU Light 3.0 uses new kernel and file system, which is not applicable to Pilot RCU Light 2.0 any longer. 3. The software of Pilot RCU Light 3.0 is not applicable to Pilot RCU Light 2.0 any longer. 4. Pilot RCU Light 3.0 uses quad-core CPU and supports multi-lte tests, providing higher performance when compared with Pilot RCU Light

7 Test Related 3 Test Related 3.1 Why can't Pilot RCU Light execute test tasks? The possible reasons are as follow: Pilot RCU Light cannot connect with the Pilot Fleet Unify server to obtain new test plans. Users may check configuration related to Modem. The test plan time range may be incorrect. Users may check if the test time belongs to the specified time range in the test plan. 3.2 Why does Pilot RCU Light call failure occur frequently? If this failure occurs, users may check the following items: Verify if the MTC number is correct. Verify if the SIM card credit (MOC) has finished. Verify the antenna. Verify if the MTC module is normal. 3.3 What should users do if the Pilot RCU Light data transmission is very slow? Users may put the test device at a location with good coverage (GSM or WCDMA) or download the data files to a local PC then use network cable for data transmission. 3.4 Is there any interference among modules during service test? Optimized by DingLi's engineers, the interference among modules is little during service test. 3.5 Can users perform network and frequency lock with Pilot RCU Light test modules? Yes. Users may specify network and frequency in test plan configuration for the test modules. 3.6 How can users modify Pilot RCU Light configuration? Users may connect Pilot RCU Light to the PC, and use RCU Client to modify configuration such as Modem dial-up, server IP and port information. 5

8 Test Related 3.7 How can users save original data files to a local PC? Users may connect Pilot RCU Light to the PC, and then use RCU Client to upload the data files (.*rcu) from the Pilot RCU Light to the PC. 6
