The Town of Leland realizes the importance of obtaining body cameras to assist the Leland Police Department with their work. The Town of Leland Police Department see this investment as a valued service tool to perform their duties. The Town Council has had discussion about the importance of having body cameras as evidence for cases as well as to verify any complaints that may be received. The total investment cost is $71, This expense has been allocated in the FY16/17 Budget. The Town of Leland does not purchase the body and vehicle cameras for the Police Department's use. Staff recommends that Council approve Resolution R to purchase the cameras to aid staff in their work and protect the Town.

The cameras are a tool that will aid the Police Department in capturing evidence for cases as well as verify any complaints that may be received. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: The Town Manager is hereby authorized to execute the proposal with Watch Guard for the investment of body cameras and patrol vehicle cameras in the amount of $71, Adopted by Town Council on this 15 day of December, Brenda Bozeman, Mayor Sabrena Reinhardt, Town Clerk
