ISU Dustin has ordered cm 4 µm pitch custom GEMs Can order more for 4 chamber stack in each arm Need to get APV25 board connector for local mounting Would be mounted with with quartz detector on frame as in PREX-I Seamus Riordan Tracking 6/1
SBS GEM Production Production module Test Results GEM Trackers for SBS Back Tracker 1 GEM Layers (2 6 cm2) Each Layer = 4 GEM modules (5 6 cm2).4 mm readout pitch 124 k readout channels (strong $ allows instrumentation of all strips) SBS project: built in Virginia 48 modules including 8 spares 5 cm Front Tracker 6 GEM Layers (15 4 cm2) Each layer = 3 GEM modules (5 4 cm2).4 mm strip pitch 41 k readout channels INFN Funding: being built in Italy (E. Cisbani and collaborators) 18 modules. 6 cm 5 cm 2-D hit maps. 4 cm Proton arm layout for GEp (5) experiment 4 UVA producing cm2 modules for SBS rear tracker - Plan to have 4 done by spring Efficiency is non-uniform due to spacers, but spot can positioned away Dustin has 1 2 cm modules New frame will have to be designed Seamus Riordan Tracking 7/1
SBS GEM Production Production module Test Results UVa GEM Lab Large area (3 7 m2) class 1 Clean Room 2-D hit maps. Team members: NL, Dr. Kondo Gnanvo, Dr. Vladimir Nelyubin, Dr. Huong Nguyen, Xinzhan Bai, Danniung Di, Rong Wang, Siyu Jian 6 UVA producing cm2 modules for SBS rear tracker - Plan to have 4 done by spring Efficiency is non-uniform due to spacers, but spot can positioned away Dustin has 1 2 cm modules New frame will have to be designed Seamus Riordan Tracking 7/1
Readout Two APV25 readout systems have been employed for GEMs in JLab-related development activities MPD - used in INFN development, will be employed by Tritium and SBS, VME based (1 module = 248 channels) Need 2 working systems - only need to instrument 4 channels in each arm Alex has full setup in test lab with few of Nilanga s GEMs Have decoder from Evaristo, raw data, and analyzer branch to be integrated into Seamus Riordan Tracking 8/1
Tracking Tracking for GEMs can be solved using standard Hall A Tree Search Alogrithm by Ole Has been integrated in with analyzer by Ole (TreeSearch-GEM library exists) - just needs to be worked into our replay SBS and SoLID need to produce GEM pseudodata to test tracking software - this is a good addition MS resolution effects should be evaluated - we have 1% RL of quartz Seamus Riordan Tracking 9/1
Summary Sufficient GEMs will exist for PREX/CREX running for our tracking purposes New frame needs to be designed DAQ electronics exist and will need to be incorporated into our system - already integrated into CODA Counting mode decoder and software libraries need to be updated to handle tree search with GEMs Seamus Riordan Tracking 1/1
