Call to order / Introductions The meeting was called to order at 09:00 by Dov Isaacs, WG2/TF2 chair. 2 3. Review minutes of November 2014 meeting (N0448) The minutes from the last meeting were reviewed and approved as distributed. 4. Review status of ISO and other ISO PDF subset standards Leonard Rosenthol reported that TC171/SC2//WG8 has reviewed and resolved comments on the latest draft of ISO Revisions have been made to the transparency chapter, metadata, rendering, XFDF, fragment identifiers along with new specifications. The document will be balloted at the DIS stage once the updated draft is available. Ratification is anticipated by the end of TC171/SC2/WG5 (PDF/A) is on hiatus pending work on ISO Still under discussion is the naming for the next version (PDF/A 2016; PDF/A next) TC171/SC2/WG7 (PDF/E) ISO is currently in the final DIS stage. TC171/SC2/WG9 (PDF/UA) aligns with the ISO work that is just beginning. 6. Discuss resolution of comments on ISO/NWI/CD Graphic technology Use of PDF to associate processing steps and content data Lieven Plettinck provided the proposed resolution of comments which were reviewed and finalized. Discussion resulted in the following action items:

3 Action 15 01: Plettinck to provide final resolution of comments along with updated version of ISO Action 15 02: Orf to submit ISO to TC130 Secretariat with request to initiate the 2nd CD ballot 7. Review status of PDF/X application notes Jason Lisi reported on the outline for application notes that was distributed as N459. He noted that his work to date has been focused on PDF/X and previous application notes. He asked that the group determine the focus of application notes before more work is done. After discussion it was agreed that the work should be focused on the next version (PDF/X 6). Action 15 03: Lisi to provide a draft 1 document of the PDF/X 6 application notes to Orf by the end of June for distribution to WG2/TF2 Action 15 04: All to provide feedback to Jason Lisi on draft of PDF/X 6 application notes by the end of September Action 15 05: Orf to provide a word version of previous PDF/X application notes along with logos to Lisi for use in preparing PDF/X 6 application notes 8. Discuss status of ISO Graphic technology Prepress digital data exchange using PDF Part 9: exchange of printing data (PDF/X 2016) and partial exchange of printing data with external profile reference (PDF/X 2016p) using PDF 2.0 There was discussion on the designation for the next version of PDF/X which has been called tentatively ISO and ISO while in the working draft stage. Based on the results of a straw poll, as shown below, it was agreed to use PDF/X 6. It was agreed to update the title of the document to ISO Graphic technology Prepress digital data exchange using PDF Part 9: exchange of printing data (PDF/X 6) and partial exchange of printing data with external profile reference (PDF/X 6p) using PDF 2.0 Action 15 06: Orf to submit title change of ISO (PDF/X 6) to TC130 Secretariat Action 15 07: Rosenthol to provide updated versions of for Orf to distribute for 30 day review within WG2 by end of May Action 15 08: Orf to set up teleconference to discuss comments received on ISO Action 15 09: Rosenthol to provide ISO/CD with comments from 30 day review incorporated by end of June

4 Action 15 10: Orf to submit ISO/CD to TC130 Secretariat for initiation of a 3 month CD ballot Action 15 11: Orf to set up teleconference to discuss comments received on ISO/CD Action 15 12: Rosenthol to provide a report on the current status of ISO for the meeting in Korea 8a Discussion of replacement of PDF/X 5 It was noted that there is no known implementation of PDF/X 5 outside of ISO (PDF/VT). It was agreed that conformance levels G and PG should be discussed during the WG2/TF3 meeting. Additionally it was agreed that conformance level N will be added to PDF/X 6. Action 15 13: Isaacs to report to WG2/TF3 on the future of PDF/X 5 and feedback 8b. Discussion of Cross media option for PDF/X 6 Dr. Isaacs provided a presentation on adding a cross media option into PDF/X 6 (N464). Mr. Rosenthol stated that there are very few PDF/X compliant viewers on devices that render to screens; based on this he felt that there is little expectation for use in the marketplace. Some felt that there is currently a viable need for this application in, for example, the sign and display market. It was suggested that determining the success of predictable rendering on screen devices should be the first step before moving ahead with this addition. The question was asked if there is an approach where reliable rendering for screen can be predicted. Mr. Bailey noted that based on concerns that PDF/X is not being adopted this may help to remove the barrier of people deciding that they can't use PDF/X for cross media. Laurel Brunner asked if there is proven support for the development of new applications, for example, people capturing items on their phones which they want to print. This would allow for that type of applicability; and making PDF available for different media channels which would then raise the applicability of PDF/X. There was a request to provide a document that includes the information in the presentation along with alternatives for review and comment by the group. Action 15 14: Isaacs to provide presentation (N464) on the addition of a Cross Media Option to PDF/X 6 along with verbiage on value and use in the marketplace and suggested alternatives Action 15 15: Orf to distribute presentation on Cross Media option to WG2/TF2 with a request for feedback 9. Other business Steve Carter provided a presentation on Collision and Brake Fluid. During discussion it was agreed to modify the samples for ISO based on the decision to change the data type of the keys in GTS_Metadata from string to name. Action Item 15 16: Orf to distribute PDF/X 5n samples provided by Steve Carter to WG2/TF2 with a request for feedback on how to implement these files in a true PDF/X manner for display and print

5 applications, including digital printing, where the color needs to be viewed consistently by the observer in each use case by the end of July Action Item 15 17: Plettinck/Carter to modify samples for ISO based on the decision to change the data type of the keys in GTS_Metadata from string to name and provide to Orf for distribution to WG2/TF2 10. Future meeting plans WG2/TF2 will request one day for the next TC130 meeting in South Korea Nov Adjourn Dr. Isaacs thanked everyone present.
