1 HOT IN AUGUST 2016 Providers Must Complete View Article PulseCloud is on the horizon I hope you all are having a great summer and have had an opportunity to relax and recharge to finish out the year strong. We have been hard at work putting the finishing touches on our PulseCloud solution, which is scheduled to be released at the end of September. Currently we re in the final testing phase and are working to resolve any issues to ensure it s as close to perfect as possible. We re excited for what this means for our clients and for Pulse as we ve realized that cloudbased computing is the way the healthcare industry is trending and we are proud to be on the forefront of this new technology. In fact, PulseCloud will be highlighted at the MGMA national convention in San Francisco at the end of October! Speaking of cloud-based technology, our web-based faxing solution, efax, is also set to hit the market in the coming months. If you are interested in participating in the Early Adopter Program for efax, please reach out to your Client Manager! We appreciate the feedback and insight many of you have provided during our product development, and we hope you are as excited as we are for future Pulse products. 2 The current two-year cycle of identify proofing is coming to an end, and time is quickly approaching to enroll in the next cycle to verify your identity with Surescripts. All providers must complete identity proofing, and Pulse can facilitate this process with IdenTrust. What is identity proofing? Pulse Rx users were initially updated to version 5.0 between September and October of 2014, which is when the first two-year cycle began. In the next identity proofing cycle, providers need to re-enroll with Surescripts. Pulse has partnered with IdenTrust to make this transition as seamless as possible. Pulse will give providers step-bystep instructions to complete. When providers register with IdenTrust, they will complete a background check against independent data sources to verify their identity. IdenTrust does not share any personal information to third party vendors without prior consent. By completing identity proofing, it will allow the provider to continue sending prescriptions electronically. If the provider purchases the token with the identity proofing, they will be able to send controlled substances electronically too.
3 To obtain more information on identity proofing, contact your Client Manager or a Software Support Helpdesk representative. They will provide you with the IdenTrust information and will notify the Rx Enrollment Specialist. Surescript s new policy requires that all e-prescribing providers go through identify proofing according to the NIST standard developed by the U.S. government. Please be aware that Pulse did not set this mandate.
4 The Registry is now open for Pulse Clients. There are a few changes, a continuation of several new rules put in place last year and an additional registration process that CMS has made available to help limit some of the time and effort spent on the overall attestation process. Again this year, we will offer price incentives to those clients signing early, as well as the optional block of consultation hours to provide the appropriate amount of service to meet the needs of each of our clients. The pricing options for Quality Reporting in 2016 are below and each date is reflective of having received your signed Letter of Agreement on or before the date: September 30, 2016 $295 October 30, 2016 January 1, 2017 $395 $495 Block of Consultation Hours (block is optional and includes 4 hours) $600
5 The Sales Team has started the process of making contact with each of our clients to discuss options and provide any educational material(s) needed to help make informed decisions. One of the changes that you will want to be aware of is the availability for practices to utilize the CQM s from their Meaningful Use attestation for PQRS (termed QRDA Reporting). While this type of reporting will remain the practice s responsibility, the Regulatory Compliance Team can assist with the process to help insure your practice s success. Click here to sign up!
6 Configuring Batch Reporter Security Permissions in PulsePro To gain access and fully utilize the Batch Reporter function, users must have the proper rights activated within the Security Manager. ** Read enabled Enables the Tasks toolbar icon within the Reporter module. Enables the View and Print icons within the Task window. ** Read-Add enabled Enables the Add toolbar icon within the Reporter module. ** Read-Modify enabled Enables the Edit and Copy icons within the Task window. ** Read-Modify-Delete enabled Enables the Remove icon within the Task window. Perform the following steps to configure the security settings for the Batch Reporter 1. From the PulsePro application >> click the Administration group button in the Navigation Pane. 2. From the Administration group >> click the Security Manager icon. 3. From the Pulse Net Security Manager window >> click the Setup User/Role Permissions button.
7 4. The Setup User s Role/Permission window displays. 5. Click the Setup User s Role/Permission tab >> click the icon from the User field to identify and select the user receiving the Batch Reporter security access >> a provider/ staff lookup window displays. 6. Identify the desired user from the fields provided and click Find.
8 7. Locate and highlight the desired user from the displayed results and click Select. 8. The selected user displays within the Setup User/Role Permissions window. 9. Under the list section of the window, locate the Batch Reports security permission under the Reports category. 10. From the Batch Reports security permission, enable the appropriate rights for the user. 11. Once complete, click the Save icon to apply the specified Batch Reports securities to the selected user. 12. Click the Exit button on the toolbar to return to the PulsePro navigation pane.
9 Appointment List View In the event you have a user who needs to view a specific Appointment List, please do not fear Pulse Support is here! This month s tip is geared toward showing how easy it is to give a user the capability to view a desired Appointment List within PulseEHR. The first thing we would need to establish is that that the user has the desired Appointment List assigned to them. To find the Appointment Lists assigned to the logged in user, select the dropdown in the Schedule. Next, we have to establish that the user has permission to edit within the Administration Menu, which is found in the lower left hand portion of the Clinical Dashboard. To find out if the user has permissions to edit appointment lists within the Administrator Menu, click Administration to open the options (if the options are greyed out, the user does not have access to edit with the Administration Menu).
10 If the selections are not greyed out, the user will select My Appointment List, which will then generate the box for Appointment List Setup. This is where you would click the dropdown at the top to show all available Appointment Lists. Select the desired Appointment List to bring up all the settings for that Appointment List, then click the copy button found in the actions bar.
11 This will bring up the list of users who have the Appointment List assigned to them. Select the Uncheck All button to make sure we are not sending the Appointment List to users that already have it. Note: if you send an appointment list to someone who already has it and they have made modifications to that Appointment List, they will lose their settings. After unchecking all recipients, now select the intended recipient of the Appointment List. Once the recipient is selected, click OK. The list of users will disappear and reveal the main page of the Appointment List Setup. In order for the changes to apply, you must click Save. The users receiving the new Appointment List must log out of the application to see the newly assigned Appointment List(s). 12 RTE Setting Update If you are using the real-time eligibility (RTE) module, as of August 1, SecureConnect will no longer be accepting ANSI 4010 transactions. There is a setting in RidgeMark that will change the RTE format to the updated ANSI 5010, and RidgeMark Support staff will be updating all customers systems who are using the RTE module prior to the August 1 deadline. This update will change the existing insurances only. After August 1, you should notice no difference when submitting RTE requests from RidgeMark for existing insurances. Note: if you add a new insurance company to the RidgeMark insurance list after August 1, you will need to change the RTE setting to This setting can be found under the Insurance Company Details window >> General tab. In the Eligibility area, use the drop-down option the change the Claim Format from 4010 to As always, feel free to contact RidgeMark Support Team at (800) or RidgeMark_Support@pulseinc.com if you have any questions or need assistance.

These Focus Groups are one-hour virtual meetings that give you visibility into the issues we are looking at, and to provide your thoughts and feedback on these proposed solutions. Focus Groups are held on Thursdays at 12 p.m. CDT.
14 PulseCloud Introduced at the Pulse User s Group 2016, PulseCloud is the next evolution of Practice Management and EHR solutions offered by Pulse. This new solution will improve ease-of-use while providing a significantly lower total cost of ownership to you. The product engineering teams are hard at work finalizing the design of PulseCloud, and we invite you to be a part of this process by participating in a series of Focus Groups this summer. You can see a full listing of future Focus Groups in the section of this newsletter. Patient Portal In July, Pulse introduced Pulse Patient Portal This update introduced new functionality within the registration process of new users via a unique PIN. In addition, the solution now supports access to multiple clinics through a single patient user account. In the next release, we will be introducing the new family account feature which simplifies family account management. Pulse Pro/EHR Pulse Systems has released the latest enhancements to Pulse Pro/EHR with version This release introduces updated EDI support for Jopari Workman s Comp claims along with a number of minor client-driven enhancements and fixes. Please refer to PACE for more details on this release.

You already know their voices from calling our helpdesk. Here s a little more about one of our team members! Randy Jarman Software Support Manager Randy Jarman joined the Pulse family in October 2010 as a member of the Software Support team. He performed so well that he was promoted to the position of Software Support Manager in Randy came to the company with extensive Help Desk experience, both on the front lines and in management. Through the years he has become proficient in all areas of the software, though Randy would tell you that he is particularly strong in all areas of PulsePro. Randy s leadership and experience have become instrumental in the delivery of quality client care...
16 ... It s the people that make this job so enjoyable. It s the most talented group of dedicated professionals that I ve ever been a part of, he said. Randy was born in Wichita, but has moved around quite a bit in his life. Before the age of 26, Randy had lived on both coasts, residing for a period in Seattle, Wash. and Waterville, Maine. Randy is kept busy with his management duties at Pulse, and he enjoys building things in in his spare time. Some of his recent projects include building a desk, a clock, a lamp and some shelves. There is nothing more relaxing than using my tools, he said. Randy and his wife have been married for almost 15 years, and they have a six-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter. Other than taking on building projects, his favorite hobby is watching movies. Although much of that time is spent watching animated films with the kids, Randy is particularly fond of dramas. He says that the best movie he has ever seen was Good Will Hunting starring Matt Damon.
