3 1. Introduction Map Central for Clients Map Central for Clients has been developed as a cloud hosted service, web based viewer for PF Olsen spatial data. From Map Central you can zoom to a specific property, view property data, measure distance and area, annotate the map with text and print maps If you are using Map Central for Clients on a mobile device in the field, you can locate yourself and track where you have been. The data is view only, so you can t break it. The symbology and labels are fixed and can t be changed by users. Client specific data is restricted at the point of login. The login credentials control what client data is available for each client. More than one user can login using the same login details. Map Central for Clients has been optimised to work in Google Chrome, Internet Explorer and Firefox. However, no guarantee is made for the performance of Map Central for Clients in Citrix or Citrix like systems. PF Olsen is willing to assist clients with setup queries. 4 2. Overview Main screen The main screen is divided into three main sections: 1. The tool bar across the top of the screen, where you can zoom in and out, identify features, search for properties, measure area and distance and annotate your map. 2. The map layers section on the left hand side, where you can turn layers on and off. 3. The map display. 5 3. How To 3.1 Access & Log In Access the site To access the site, please use the url address, username and password supplied to you. Open your preferred web browser Paste/type the supplied url address into address field see figure 2 Figure 2: Web browser Login In the popup box that appears, enter your username and password see figure 3 Note: Both the username and password are case sensitive Figure 3: Enter login details March 2016 How To Page 5

6 3.2 Zoom to a property Zoom To quickly zoom to a specific property: Click either the Forest Name Search or Forest Code Search buttons on the Tool bar see figure 4 Figure 4: Forest search buttons From the list that appears, select your property of interest and click search see figure 5 Figure 5: Select a property The system will then zoom to the selected property and the property extent will appear in the map display window see figure 6 Figure 6: Zoomed property extent March 2016 How To Page 6

7 3.3 Turn layers on or off Turn layers on and off To view the map layers, click on the arrow to expand the menu see figure 7. Figure 7: Map layers The map layers are divided into three sections at the primary level: Client Data Base Data Topo map see figure 8 Figure 8: Map layers Within each section, the secondary level consist of different map layers. Click on the plus next to the primary level to expand the secondary level see figure 9 Figure 9: Expand to see map layers Layers can be turned on or off by ticking or unticking next to the different map layer (secondary level) or at the primary level. 8 Client data layer descriptions The client layer consists of data that is specific to the client s properties. Layers include: Estate points gates, main access, hazards, buildings etc Estate Lines power & utility lines, tracks, drainage etc. Hazards are labelled Cutover Actual by date harvested areas symbolised and labelled by month Cutover Actual harvested areas Landunit Productive Cropping cropping areas and labelled by compartment and area in hectares FSC HCV areas designated FSC high conservation value Encumbered plantations areas encumbered to a third party Damaged areas that have been affected by fire, wind etc Coppice plantation areas that have been harvested and regrown as coppice Landunit Productive Plantation productive plantation areas including awaiting planting, cutover, planted eucalyptus species, planted pine species. Labelling is by compartment, plant year and area in hectares for each polygon Landunit coverage of the entire property, including productive and non productive land classes; labelled by compartment Property Boundary extent of managed area; labelled by property name and code Base data layer descriptions Base data consists of data that is sourced from Australian government agencies. Layers include: Gazetted city and town points Railway lines 1:250,000k Roads - 1:250,000k Watercourse - 1:250,000k Local government areas shires, council areas etc NRM zones Natural resource management zones IBRA 7 - Interim biogeographic regionalisation for Australia State boundaries Coast line coast line of Australia March 2016 How To Page 8

9 Background data layer descriptions There are three background data layer options: Satellite/aerial image Topographic map Blank To change the background image options, click the background maps icon in the right hand corner of the map screen and select your required background, see figure 10. You can also turn the topographic map on by ticking topo map in the map layers see figure 8 Figure 10: Change background image March 2016 How To Page 9

10 3.4 Navigate around the map Navigate around map There are two different options navigate around the map screen: 1. Using the basic tools on the tool bar see figure 11 Figure 11: Navigation tools Set scale zoom to a scale selected from a predefined list of scales Zoom in click and drag to your area of interest Zoom out click and drag to your area of interest Initial view zoom to the initial load view Previous extent your previous view Next extent if using the previous extent 2. Using the map tools in the upper left hand corner of the map screen see figure 12 The plus and minus symbols zoom in and out a fixed amount Figure 12: Navigation tools To pan around the screen, just click and drag on the map screen March 2016 How To Page 10

11 3.5 Query Data To query data Click on the identify tool in the basic tools - see figure 13. Figure 13: Identify tool Click on the area of interest, eg compartment etc. and a popup box will appear showing some details. Click view additional details to see more information - see figure 14. 12 3.6 Measure distance or area Set units of measure To measure the length or area of an object: Set the units of measure by clicking the down arrow next to the area/distance tools and select the appropriate unit from the list see figure 15 Figure 15: Setting measurement units Measure distance To measure distance: click the distance tool click on your map at the starting point of the line click along the distance required double click to finish the total distance and subtotals will be displayed see figure 16 Figure 16: Distance Tool March 2016 How To Page 12

13 Measure area To measure area: Click the area tool Then click on your map at the starting point Click around the area required Double click to finish The total area, total perimeter and subtotals for perimeter will be displayed see figure 17 Figure 17: Area tool Deleting measurements To delete the area or distance mark-ups: Click the erase button, then on the mark up to delete it, or Click the clear all button to remove all mark ups see figure 18 Figure 18: Delete tools March 2016 How To Page 13

14 3.7 Annotate the map Annotate the map To annotate the map: Click on the Map drawing tab see figure 19 Figure 19: Map drawing tab Add shapes or text To add a shape or text: Click on the desired shape or text see figure 19 Click on styles and select colour and style see figure 20 Figure 20: Select drawing style Click on the map and draw your shape see figure 21 Figure 21: Added drawing and text To edit the shape or text: click on the edit button then click on the shape or text to be edited To delete the share or text: Click the erase button, then on the annotation to delete it, or Click the clear all button to remove all annotations March 2016 How To Page 14

15 3.8 Print Maps Print Maps To print a map Click on I want to in the upper left hand corner of the map display Click on print Figure 22: Print Map In the dialogue box select layout, resolution and add in a title, click print see figure 23 Figure 23: Print map dialogue box Click open - see figure 24 Figure 24: Open map The map will appear in a new tab. 16 3.9 Use location tools Location tools The locations tools can be used when using a mobile device to: Locate yourself: Click on the locate tool in the upper left hand corner of the map display see figure 22 Click on Find Me and screen will zoom to your current location Figure 22: Location tools Track where you have been: Click on Track Me and a line will appear on your screen as you move around March 2016 How To Page 16
