1 Getting Started with the new GIS Map Service Overview: 1. Layer List Widget Shows all available layers. This widget will be open by default. 2. Legend Widget Gives symbology information for all visible layers in current extent 3. Draw widget Add points, lines, or shapes to a map 4. Measurement widget Measure area, length, or get location details (Lat, Lon) 5. Print Widget Create map of visible map area (PDF, GIF, PNG, JPG, EPS, SVG) 6. Search box Search by Address, Parcel Number, or Project Name 7. Zoom Buttons Zoom in or out (mouse scroll wheel also provides this function) 8. Base map Gallery Choose a different base map 9. Home Button Reset map to default extent 10. My Location Button On a mobile device this will zoom to your current location

2 Pop-Ups When you click on the map, a pop-up will appear that includes information on active layers. If more than one layer is active, multiple pages will be available as indicated by (1 of x) at the top of the pop-up window. Use the navigation arrows to scroll through the different layers. 3 Layer List Widget First, click on Click to Expand Layer List to show the full list of layers. Figure 1 below shows the default view and figure 2 shows the expanded list. Figure 1 1 Figure 1 Figure 2 The layer list now behaves like Google Earth, if you click on an arrow before the group or the group name, the group will expand to show all the layers within that group. Note: some labels will not appear on the map until zoomed in to a closer extent Figure 3 shows the Base Data Group fully expanded: Note: Layers that are greyed out will appear once zoomed in to a closer extent Figure 3

4 Draw Widget 1. Choose what type of object you would like to create: Point, line, shape, or text 2. Then select style options and, if necessary, check the box to include measurement details. Any drawings will appear on print jobs (if it s visible in the extent you are printing). To remove the drawings, select clear Drawing Example

5 Measurement Widget Using this widget, you can measure area, distance, or get location information in degrees or decimals 1. Select type of measurement. In the example below, Area is chosen along with the unit Acres 2. Click on the map to start drawing the polygon, then click on the corners to create final shape. Double-click to complete the drawing. The results are then given in the measurement widget window. 3. To get location information, select the location button (see example below) and then choose Degree or DMS. The results of the selected point are listed next to the green pin in the Measurement widget window.

6 Print Widget This widget will allow you to print the current map view 1. Select Layout: (Letter ANSI A = Letter size (8 ½ x 11in) (Tabloid ANSI B = 11 x 17in) 2. Select format: PDF is default, but map can be saved in a variety of image files as well

7 3. Once a paper size is selected, the Map Title entry appear and can then be edited. Choosing Advanced will allow you to edit other attributes of the map including the author, whether to include the legend, print quality, etc. 4. Once all attributes have been selected/entered, click the print button and a print will be generated, in this case a PDF. Click on the created file to view and print the PDF Click on the file below to see an example of the print results: Test Map.pdf

8 Search Box This element will allow you to search by Address, Parcel Number, Project Name, or business name (using ESRI s world geocoder). 1. Start typing an address, parcel number, or project name. The search box will display up to six results for each category 2. To only search one type of data, click the drop-down arrow on the left side of the search box. A list of the searchable layers will display.

9 3. Running a search using the ESRI World Geocoder will produce results like Google Earth, using data from all over the USA. Users can search by business name, road name, city name, etc.
