1 Finding Articles by Author and/or Title There are times when you need to search for articles by author and/or article title. You may find references in an article or book you are reading or you may find the abstract of an article and wish to read the full text. Since each database is searched differently, we have compiled some useful search tips. ProQuest ABI Inform Global Select the Advanced Search tab Choose Document title from the dropdown menu and enter the article title. You can also choose Author and enter the author s last name, first name. Choose Publication title from the 2 nd drop-down menu and enter the magazine or journal title; for example: mortgage banking The next screen will display the article you are looking for if it is indexed in the database. Click on one of the viewing options for the article: Full text, Text+ Graphics, or Full Text-PDF link Full Text gives you the text only of the article with no graphics. Text+Graphics gives you text plus a miniaturized version of any graphics. Full Text-PDF gives you the pdf file for the article. This is the article as originally published. Find by Author and Publication Title Choose Author from the drop-down menu. Enter the author s name in any order (first name followed by last name or last name, first name) Choose Publication Title, if you know it, and enter the title. You may have to choose from a list if the author has written numerous articles for the same publication.

2 General Reference Center Gold Go to Advanced Search Choose Document Title (ti) from the drop-down menu. Enter the title you are searching for. You can also choose Author (au) from the drop-down menu and search for a specific author. The next screen will display the link to the article: Click on the fulltext link or PDF page to display the article.

3 FACTIVA Click Search and then select Site Builder. Enter hd=plus the title you are looking for Select a date range Narrow Search to a Specific Publication: You can gear the search to a particular publication, such as the Wall Street Journal. Click Source. Type the publication in the Find a Source box; for example: wall street journal. Click the Source circle again. Choose the publication you are looking for; in this case, Publication: The Wall Street Journal. When you select it, the title appears in red letters above the Find a Source box. Enter the publication you are looking for. Click the Source tab Scroll down the list and click the publication you want. The title then appears above the Find a Source search box in red letters. Click Run Search.

Bernardi published in the CPA Journal July First, go to the Advanced Search Screen. Choose Title instead of keyword in the drop-down menu. Type the article title in the Search for box. You can also choose Author from the drop-down menu and enter the author s name if you know it or only the author s name, if you do not know the title. Choose Title from the drop-down menu and enter the title. You can also select Author from the menu and enter the author s name Select Source from the menu and enter the title if you want to add the name of the magazine or journal You will pull up the abstract for the article. Select View Full Text in PDF format or View Full Text in HTML format to view the article. Select either the PDF or HTML format to view the article

Leibowitz and Alan Reinstein published in the Journal of Accountancy in April of Select the red Sources tab from the main source tabs at the top of the page.. Under Find a Source, enter the title of the magazine title: Journal of Accountancy. Under Select sources below to search, check the box in front of Journal of Accountancy.
