INTRODUCTION The purpose of deliverable D8.2 is to set up the NOMAD website, Facebook and Twitter channels which will serve as a collaboration tool for knowledge, experience and best practice sharing, as well as results consolidation and dissemination support. The NOMAD website will provide all related information about the NOMAD project, such as scope, objectives, approach, target and results. The website, which will be publicly available, is foreseen to incrementally provide project information and achievements and stimulate contacts with other users. The NOMAD project s result and news can also be followed through Facebook and Twitter channels. In Section 2 follows a description of the website infrastructure. More specifically, the website architecture is presented. Section 3 provides the website description and Facebook and Twitter channels that are set up to widely disseminate the project s results and news. More specifically, different snapshots of the public website pages are given. Moreover, the features and description of the internal partner area are presented. Finally, Section 4 concludes this deliverable. Page 7 of 25

WEBSITE INFRASTRUCTURE 2.1 URL The NOMAD consortium has acquired the following URL which will be used by Internet users for accessing the NOMAD website Website architecture The project s website will consist of two discrete access controlled areas: a public area where the public will be able to gather information regarding the project, download the project s publicly available material (like accepted deliverable, brochures and other informative documents or publications) and to find information about contacting the project s partners, and a private area, where only the NOMAD partners will have access in order to deposit various data, to exchange documents, to organize events and for general co-operation. The underlying platform is DotNetNuke ( in version DotNetNuke is an open source web application framework written in VB.NET for the ASP.NET framework. The application's content management system is extensible and customizable through the use of skins and modules, and it can be used to create, deploy, and manage intranet, extranet, and web sites. As of January 2011, the DotNetNuke application has been downloaded over 6 million times and is in its fifth edition. Version 4.0 or later requires ASP.NET Framework v2.0 or later, but earlier versions will run on ASP.NET 1.1. DotNetNuke has a basic core which can be extended using pluggable modules and providers that enable additional functionality; the look and feel of individual sites can be customized using skins. About a dozen basic modules are included with the core DotNetNuke distribution, and further modules can be downloaded from the DotNetNuke website, including e-commerce systems, photo galleries, blogs, forums, wiki and mailing list options. Additional third party modules are provided by both the open source community and proprietary commercial developers. 2.3 Other issues Hosting The whole platform is hosted in ATC premise in Greece. The servers (Windows Server, IIS7, Microsoft SQL Server 2008) used for hosting guarantee the 24/7 operation of the platform, as they are capable of handling high load and operate on a 2 Gbps connection to the Internet. Backups of the system are taken on a standard daily basis in order for the system to be able to recover in case of a failure Site statistics The statistics regarding the visitors of the website are constantly recorded and stored, using the Google Analytics 1 tool kit so that consortium members can anytime have access to the history logs and be able to extract useful information about the website operation based on those statistics Compatibility with Browsers The website is compatible with the following web browsers: Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher 1 Page 8 of 25

WEBSITE DESCRIPTION 3.1 Public Access Area The public area of the NOMAD website consists of the following pages: Home Project o o Partners News Events Links Downloads Objectives Approach Figure 2 (Snapshot of the NOMAD home page) presents the NOMAD s vision. Figure 3 (Snapshot of the Objectives page) shows the motivation and the objectives of the project. In Figure 4 (Snapshot of the Approach page) information about the methodology that will be used in the project is given. Figure 5 (Snapshot of the Partners page) presents the project partners. In Figure 6 (Snapshot of the News page) the recent news of the project are presented. Figure 7 (Snapshot of the Events page) presents the NOMAD calendar. In Figure 8 (Snapshot of the Links page) interesting links with other projects are listed so that the users can visit other websites for further information. Finally, in Figure 9 (Snapshot of the Downloads page) relevant documentation and resources will be uploaded throughout the course of the project. Page 10 of 25

19 Figure 8: Snapshot of the Downloads page 3.2 Partner Access Area The internal Partners Area of the CROSSOVER project uses Wiki for exchanging information among members of the CROSSOVER consortium and for the EU Commission (see Figure 8). The open source used is DokuWiki 2 which is a standards compliant, simple to use Wiki, mainly aimed at creating documentation of any kind. It is targeted at developer teams, workgroups and small companies. It has a simple but powerful syntax which makes sure the datafiles remain readable outside the Wiki and eases the creation of structured texts. 21 3.2.1 NOMAD Partners Collaboration Area NOMAD partners have access to this area as shown in Figure 10 and can push and pull information regarding the followings: Project Information access to general project information, such as description of work, contact list. Work Package areas access to the WPs. E.g., regarding WP1 Project Management, deliverables, etc. can be accessed. Reporting space access to related reports, such as the necessary templates for reporting financial information, report technical progress and relevant to NOMAD external publications NOMAD EU Commission Area Figure 10: Snapshot of the NOMAD partners collaboration area The NOMAD EU commission area (see Figure 11) is accessible only by the EU and the reviewers. It consists of the Project final deliverables area. This area fully supports the collaboration among the EU commission. CONCLUSIONS This Deliverable, D8.2 Project website, blog and twitter channels is part of the WP8 Dissemination and Exploitation and provided information regarding the design and implementation of the project website. The NOMAD website is publicly available since the early stage of the project (March, 2012) and is an important dissemination channel, as well as Facebook and Twitter, for the project results and spreading the NOMAD knowledge to wide audiences. The NOMAD website, Facebook and Twitter channels will be continuously updated.
