1 Caring About Food Safety Narration The site contains audio clips introducing each section and the home page, as well as in the interactive activities and videos. Be sure to have your speaker on to hear these clips. Once you ve listened to an introductory clip, it will not play again unless you quit the site and open it again. (Be sure to clear your browser cache before reopening.) This way you won t have to listen to introductory clips you ve already heard if you want to go back and review sections. s Some pages have links to s to print and/or save to your desktop. You ll need Adobe Reader installed to open these s. Home Page The site has six sections and a Test Your Knowledge quiz. Click on the icon for each section to open its page. You can explore the sections in any order, but we suggest you do them in order from left to right. After working through each of the six sections, try the Test Your Knowledge quiz to see how much you ve learned. On the Home Page the mango, on the right of the screen, is a link to a containing the text for all the narration used in the website Province of BC 1

2 Sections When you open a section, you ll hear some introductory narration. On the right side of the screen, an instruction line tells you how many items on the page there are for you to explore. The left side of the screen has items you click on to bring up information boxes. Each item is highlighted in blue, but it changes to a pink highlight when you move your mouse over it. Click on the item to open its information box. At the bottom left corner of each page, there is a Home tab to take you back to the home page. When an information box is open, a Back tab appears. Click on the Back tab to return to the start of the section. You ll see text and graphics in every information box. There may also be a link to a video, interactive activity, quiz, or printable. In the example above, there s a link to a and video. To watch a video, click on the video icon. Once you re finished with the video, close it by clicking on the video icon or Back tab Province of BC 3

5 Test Your Knowledge After working through all the sections on the website, you can see how much you ve learned by doing the quiz in Test Your Knowledge. Click on the best answer for each question, and you ll see right away if it s the correct response. Then click on the Next tab to go to the next question. The Back tab returns you to the previous question, and the Home tab returns you to the Home page. There are 15 questions in the quiz. After answering the 15 questions, if you get 11 or more correct, a Certificate of Completion will open. Type in your name and date and then print and/or save the certificate to your desktop. If you get fewer than 11 correct on the quiz, review the sections in the website and try the quiz again Province of BC 5
