1 Kaltura: Add a Video File to D2L In order for our students to see our class videos we must "publish" them into the course. If we want a video to show as Full Screen, we embed the video into a page in course Content. There is currently a D2L issue with "Upload-Create" a "Video or Audio" going full-screen in Content. Videos added using Insert Stuff work well, though. There are two methods to embed, using Insert Stuff. Here's the process for both ways. Grab Embed Code One of the methods of embedding a Kaltura video is to use the embed code. Here's how you get it. My Media In your D2L course Navbar, click your MyMedia link. Select Your Video To publish a video, first Select (Open) it in your My Media. To select it, click on either the thumbnail or the Title of your media. Share In the Video Details window, Click the Share button. Copy Embed Code When you click Share, Kaltura provides you with an Embed code. It should be hi-lighted. (If not, swipe your mouse across everything in the text window from <iframe... to... /iframe> to hi-light it. Press CTRL-C, (command-c on a Mac) to copy it. Using the embed code, you have a choice of sizes for your embedded video. Page 1

2 Course Content To add this video (embed code) into your course Content, click the Content link ob your course Navbar. Add or Open a Module Click into a Module in your course Table of Contents, or Click into Add a module... and type the name of a new module. Content: Upload/ Create In your selected module, 1) Click the Upload/Create (New) button. 2) Select Create a File. Page 2

3 1. Insert Stuff: Enter Embed Code Content: Upload/ Create In your selected module, 1) Click the Upload/Create (New) button. 2) Select Create a File. Create a new File As you create this file (page), Give it a Title, then you can type text above and below the embedded video if you wish. Then, click the (wonderfully named) Insert Stuff button. Insert Stuff In the Insert Stuff menu, you should have a link to your My Media and one for Enter Embed Code. Page 3

4 Enter Embed Code First, 1) click Enter Embed Code button. Then 2) Paste your Embed code, copied earlier. 3) Click the Next button to proceed. Preview You'll see a preview page with your video embedded. If it's the correct one, click Insert, to proceed. Page 4

5 Finish and Publish the New Page You are back on your new File (page). Add any additional text, and when you are done, click the Publish button to publish the page into your content. NOTE: You also have the option to Save as Draft, if you wish to finalize it later. Can go Full-Screen Clicking the full-screen icon of this published video will provide a high-resolution full-screen view. In Content And now your new page with a video is in the Module contents along with other Videos. Note the different icons. Page 5

6 2. Insert Stuff: My Media Another method does not need the embed code. It's quicker, but does not give you an option for the size of your embedded video. Content: Upload/ Create In your selected module, 1) Click the Upload/Create (New) button. 2) Select Create a File. Create a new File As you create this file (page), you can type text above and below the embedded video if you wish. Then, click the (wonderfully named) Insert Stuff button. Insert Stuff In the Insert Stuff menu, you should have a link to your My Media and one for Enter Embed Code. Page 6

7 Select your video from My Media First, 1) Click the MyMedia button. Then, in your My Media list, 2) select a video from your list by clicking its title. It becomes highlighted. 3) Click the Next button. Preview and Insert You'll see a preview of your video. If it's the correct one, Click the Insert button. Page 7

8 Finish and Publish Page You are back on your new File (page). Add any additional text, and when you are done, click the Publish button to publish the page into your content. NOTE: You also have the option to Save as Draft, if you wish to finalize it later. Can go Full-Screen Clicking the full-screen icon of this published video will provide a high-resolution full-screen view.
