1 Enterprise Library Catalog Home Page The Library Catalog Home page allows users access to any content the library would like to add, such as library announcements, links to websites, etc. Book Lists Enterprise provides users with the option of searching for titles based on popular book lists or SirsiDynix Symphony reports. View titles associated with specific book lists using the book list menu. Our district staff can also create custom lists for your location. Any title selected will display author, publication date, ISBN, etc. For some titles, users can click links for more information, such as a book review or an excerpt. Users may also search for a given title from the book lists by clicking the Find in My Library button. Searching for Items In Enterprise the library can apply search limits before executing a search. For example, a limit based on library or field may be put into place. With search limits, you are adding a qualifier before you begin the search. Starting Over To clear the current search terms and begin a new search, click the Home icon. Advanced Search Enterprise offers the option to have greater control over the results of your search by using the Advanced Search option located at the end of the navigation toolbar. Page 1 of 6

When using the Advanced Search feature, you can have Enterprise perform a search based on the following options: Find items that have all of the specified words or the exact phrase used.

Additional Searching Features Did You Mean When a user enters search terms, their terms are compared against a server-specific dictionary created solely based on the content indexed into Enterprise. If you enable this feature, then for each search the patron performs, Enterprise consults this dictionary and Search displays the "Did You Mean?" phrase with alternative search terms suggested by the dictionary. Boolean All terms are considered when searching in Enterprise, including those typically limited to use as Boolean operators (and, or, not). This means that you can search for titles using terms that are usually ignored in traditional searches. A sample title would be 'Bud, not Buddy. The not is searched. Page 2 of 6

Furthermore, Enterprise takes diacritics into account when determining how relevant a particular title is when compared to the search term.

3 Diacritics Enterprise treats search terms with diacritics differently than search term counterparts without diacritics. For example, the number of results associated with the search term El Niño may differ from the number of results associated with the search term counterpart El Nino. Furthermore, Enterprise takes diacritics into account when determining how relevant a particular title is when compared to the search term. In other words, diacritics can affect where a title is placed on the hit list. Enterprise ignores all other punctuation and capitalization. Working with Search Results The search results list contains a list of all title or bibliographic records that were found matching your search terms based on a set level of relevancy. The results do not contain information about the item records. In other words, Enterprise selects titles to display in the hit list based on how closely they are related to the search term. The administrator sets the level of relevancy in the admin console. Searching for ebooks, digital audiobooks and digital videos Items in these digital formats will be included in your search results if your library has purchased them and asked Bibliographic Services to add the MARC records to the library catalog. These items will show up when you search your library only and will have the (Online) descriptor in the title. Project Gutenberg digital content is also included for all schools if the content is appropriate for your grade levels. The exception to this rule is that all titles purchased from Overdrive do not need a MARC record added to the library catalog. The Overdrive catalog is automatically searched along with your book catalog, so you will see the ebooks, audiobooks and streaming videos included in the search results. Do see only Overdrive titles, within the library name dropdown box, change your option to Digital Catalog. Enterprise has additional features to save time in placing holds and downloading digital content for Overdrive titles. Availability of each title is listed. Preview allows reading, listening or viewing small parts of content before checking it out. Download starts the download immediately to the device if the correct apps are installed. If all copies are out, a Place Hold button will appear instead of Download. If users aren t logged into Enterprise when starting a download or placing a hold, they will be prompted to log in at that time with their active directory username and password. Page 3 of 6

4 Display Options Enterprise offers two different display options when viewing search results List view and Thumbnail view. The List view shows general information such as title, author, publication date, cover art and a format icon. Thumbnail view shows the book cover, title & author. Login to Your Account The account feature allows users to view their own checkouts, holds and fines. Use Log In or My Account at the top to get started. Students may also complete downloads directly for Overdrive titles or place holds for Overdrive titles. Selecting an Action The Select an Action feature allows users easy access to a variety of options including: Place hold(s) Add to My Lists Text Print Titles may be added to a temporary list or permanent list managed in the My Lists option at the top. Select the check box next to the title(s) of interest and Select an Action in the dropdown. Page 4 of 6

Using Facets Facets in Enterprise allow users to limit and refine their searches. Within a search results list, facets appear at the left side of the screen.

Detail Display Detail Display provides additional information about an item by clicking either the title or the cover image: Publisher, Date, Contents, Subjects, Series, Reviews, Summary. Actions include Place Hold, Add to My Lists, , Text and Print. Call numbers and item availability are shown next to the copies. Page 5 of 6

Staff may place holds on copies owned by any library and have it delivered to their location of choice. Users must log in with active directory to place a hold. For Overdrive ebooks, audiobooks and videos also provide an address for notification when the item is ready for checkout. Use the Place Hold button next to any title: OR select several titles by checking boxes and using the Select an Action dropdown: Students should select their home library for delivery. Staff may change the location if needed: Library staff at the pickup library should notify students or staff when an item is available for checkout. Page 6 of 6
