3 The dashboard comes from a manufacturing technique called Kanban

4 I m going to teach you how to visualize your work using Kanban.

5 Because visualizing your work creates awareness.

20 Kanban is a lean scheduling system developed in Japan by the Toyota Corporation in the 1950 s

21 Signal Kanban uses visual cues that told factory workers Card

22 Kanban = visual card signal what to produce, how much to produce, and when to produce it

23 The system s highly visual nature allowed workers to pull in the right work at the right time.

24 And allowed managers to see bottlenecks, waste and other inefficiencies in the system.

25 This awareness of work and workflow gave Toyota the choice to fix the inefficiencies.

26 So they did.

27 The constant improvements compounded.

28 Reducing costs.

29 Increasing quality.

30 Putting Toyota on a path to compete with US manufactures.

34 Starting in 2007, software companies started to adopt Kanban like systems.
