1 [How To] Power Plan Setting in Windows 10 Affected Model: Windows 10 system User can customize the default power behavior as follows. Sleep: Windows starts up faster and instantly back to where you left off when you wake up your laptop. Battery draining is lower in this mode, so you don t have to worry that you will lose your work because of your battery draining. Hibernate: Uses less power than sleep and when you start up the Laptop, you re back to where you left off. But the wake speed isn t faster than sleep. Shut down: Choose what the power buttons do. Close Lid: Choose what Windows does when a laptop lid is closed. Power Saver: When your laptop reaches 20% battery life, Windows will automatically lower your display s brightness, stop background actions & push notifications to stretch the battery life. If the power plan/setting behavior is not working as expected, please refer to [Advanced Power Settings] for further adjustments. 1
2 Sleep : 1. Open Power Options: (You can take either one of the two actions.) I. Right click on battery icon on the lower right coner of screen and select [Power Options]. II. Type [Power & Sleep settings] in the search box on Windows taskbar and then select [Power & Sleep settings]. Click [Additional power settings] on the right panel. 2
3 2. Open Sleep Settings: Step 1. Choose a power plan default you want on the left side, for example, [Balanced (Recommended)]. Step 2. Click [Change plan Settings] on the right side. 3. Edit Sleep Settings: In the drop down list, you can set the amount of idle time before entering sleep mode from [1 minute] to [Never]. 4. Click [Save changes] to apply the settings. 3

Click [Change advanced power settings]. 3. Edit Hibernate Settings: Click [Hibernate after] under [Sleep] item. You can set the amount of idle time before entering hibernate mode from [1 minute] to [Never]. Click [OK] to apply the settings. 5

10 Power Saver This item is only available in battery mode. 1. Turn on/off Power Saver mode: Left click on battery icon on the lower right corner of screen. Then click [Battery saver] to turn on/off [Battery saver]. 2. Edit Power Saver Settings: I. Open Power Saver: Step1. Left click on battery icon on the lower right corner of screen. Step2. Right click on battery saver icon and select [Go to Settings]. II. Turn battery saver on automatically if my battery falls below: a. Turn on the setting: Check the checkbox to enable the feature and you can adjust the battery life percentage when this function is triggered. 10
11 b. Turn off the setting: Uncheck the checkbox to disable this feature. III. Battery saver status until next charge: a. Turn on the setting: Activate the slider to enable it. b. Turn off the setting: Un-activate the slider to disable it. IV. Lower screen brightness while in battery saver: a. Turn on the setting: Check the checkbox to lower brightness automatically. b. Turn off the setting: Uncheck the checkbox to disable the function. 11
12 Advanced Power Settings You can check and adjust each setting under [Sleep] item to make sure the behavior matches the power plan you applied. 1. Open Power Options: (You can take either one of the two actions.) I. Right click on battery icon on the lower right corner of screen and select [Power Options]. II. Type [Power & Sleep settings] in the search box on Windows taskbar and then select [Power & Sleep settings]. Click [Additional power settings] on the right panel. 12
13 2. Open Advanced Power Settings: Click [Change plan settings] on the right side of power options, and then select [Change Advanced Power Settings]. 3. Edit Advanced Power Settings: You can edit power plan details in each drop-down list. If you are setting up the general power plan, you can click [Hibernate after] under [Sleep after] item. It can set the amount of idle time before entering sleep mode from [1 minute] to [Never]. 13
14 If you want to edit power plan for particular device, for example, to prevent Wiressless adapter (WLAN card) from disconnection of power saving, click [Power Saving Mode] under [Wiress Adapter Settings] item, and set it to [Maximum Performance]. 4. Click [OK] to apply the settings. 14
