4 Minimum requirements needed to install CaseWare Working Papers Microsoft operating systems CaseWare Working papers always keeps a full specifications list of all the compatibilities needed to ensure that your CaseWare experience is a technically efficient one. Below is a list of all the various components you need to be aware of when installing and using CaseWare Working Papers. Kindly note that we do not recommend running your instance of CaseWare Working Papers on Microsoft Single Language (Also known as Microsoft S). There are compatibility issues between this instance of Microsoft and CaseWare Working Papers. This is a version of Windows that is only sold in certain territories and settings are not always easily configured. Microsoft Windows 10 With Microsoft Windows 10, you would need to ensure that the version of CaseWare Working Papers you install is greater than (Release 3). It greatly affects the functionality of SmartSync. Note that this is not applicable to any CaseWare Working Paper 2016 installations as it will have the requirement built in. If you are unsure, please go to our Product Updates page on the CaseWare Africa Success Community. All the latest releases are covered here in detail. Microsoft Windows 8.1 with update For users that run Microsoft Windows 8, kindly note that you would need to update your Operating System to Windows 8.1. If you are not sure how to do this or how to check if you are on Windows 8.1 already, kindly refer to the below steps. Step 1 Press the Windows button on your keyboard, type in the word Settings. On the right hand side, you will see a set of results display. Kindly click on the Settings icon. Page 3

Please make sure you have an Internet connection and sufficient data when checking for this update. Alternatively, click here to go to the Microsoft website to see if your Operating System is up to date. Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1 or higher If your PC runs on Windows 7, please note that you would need to update to Windows 8.1 or higher. Additional components - Microsoft Office Microsoft Internet Explorer 10.0 or higher. We do however strongly recommend Google Chrome as this has been found to be your most reliable browser. Firefox and Safari are also good choices Microsoft Office 2007 Service Pack 3 or greater. Connector also supports the following: Page 5

Hardware (Personal Computer) requirements Below is a quick breakdown of the PC requirements you would need to verify before you install CaseWare Working Papers Note that depending on your suite of templates, CaseWare Working Papers 2016 will require up to 1.1GB of hard drive space for the download and installation, yet will require a minimum of 5.5GB total storage. This will be in addition to any space required to update your Windows or Mac operating system. A minimum 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor is required Minimum 4 GB of system memory; 8GB or more recommended for improved performance. The Connector program requires 10 MB hard drive space. The Working Papers programme requires 5 GB of hard drive space. The size of open client files will vary depending on the features used and the size of the documents managed. Working Papers has built-in compression that significantly reduces the size of compressed files. SVGA monitor capable of 256 colours and 800x600 resolution is required. A monitor with 1280x1024 resolution or higher is recommended. Dual monitors are supported. A stable Internet connection is required during the installation of CaseWare Working Papers We recommend an Internet connection such as ADSL or fibre. A 3G/4G or LTE connection is possible, but is not always recommended as there could be breaks in the signal and the cost of 3G/4G could be expensive in certain territories. Please be mindful of the download size for those who have a limited Internet bundle Page 6

8 Security and permissions Installation requires local administrative rights on your PC. Please reach out to your IT administrator to ensure you will be able to install CaseWare Working Papers without any hindrances The use of CaseWare Working Papers requires read/write access to the program folder and any folders containing client files (this includes CaseWare files stored on servers). Whenever you are not sure about this, please reach out to your IT administrator CaseWare Working Papers can make use of CaseWare Data Store to allow for central management of staff permissions and facilitates single sign on. Refer to the Data Store installation guide on the CaseWare community for the minimum requirements and steps to implement. If your virus scanner can exclude files by their extensions, then all Working Papers files should be excluded. The following extensions are associated with Working Papers and can be excluded from virus scans: *.dbf, *.cdx, *.fpt, *.cvw, *.ac, and *.ac_. If your virus scanner can exclude applications, exclude the following executable files in the Working Papers root installation folder: CWIN32.EXE, CVWIN32.EXE, and CWCS.EXE. Default browser and Internet connection requirements The CaseWare Working Papers download, install and registration process covers the software and your CaseWare Working Papers templates. Therefore, depending on your templates, your download could be as large as 1 Gigabyte (GB). The installation is ideally suited for a secure ADSL or Fibre Internet connection with the necessary data bundles at your disposal. Using a download manager With any download, it is generally recommended to use a download manager to ensure you are able to effectively track each and every download you make. A download manager usually takes the form of a browser add-on that is dedicated to the task of managing the actual download process from the Internet for storage on your PC. Depending on your browser, you can choose a Download Manager that works for you. If you are unsure, speak to your IT administrator. File server/networks A file server or network can be used to store CaseWare Working Papers client files. The following are supported: Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Microsoft Windows Server 2008 SP2 Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 with SP1 Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP2 or higher Microsoft CIFS compatible networks like SAMBA on Linux. Please contact CaseWare Support before implementing this type of solution. Page 7

The core function of this is to introduce CaseWare Working Papers 2016 and it contains the link that will route you to the CaseWare Africa Success Community where you will land on the CaseWare 2016 Release page. It will contain all the information you need to install CaseWare Working Papers Once you are familiar with the process, you will navigate to the My Software page where you will find your Download and Authorisation codes as well as the link to download the Silent Installation Packager. 10 What you need to know about the installation codes Throughout the CaseWare Working Papers download, installation and registration process, it is important to keep track of which codes are used when. All codes will be listed under the My Software section of the CaseWare Africa Success Community. It is however imperative to be able to refer back to them in the event that you would have to manually copy and paste the codes into certain fields. Here is a quick and easy outline that simplifies the different terms used to identify the various codes. Download code Your Download code can be found in the My Software section of the CaseWare Africa Success Community. The release will contain a link that will take you to the community, or alternatively go to success.casewareafrica.com. This is normally pre-populated during the installation but depending on your firm s Internet security, you might need to copy and paste it into the Download Code field. You will also be asked to populate your address. Remember to use your own address and NOT the address of your CaseWare Champion and or IT administrator. Page 9

How to access your installation packager from the CaseWare Africa Success Community My Software section Step 1: You or your CaseWare Champion will receive the CaseWare release mail and it will contain a link that routes you to the CaseWare community. Your champion would need to log into the community and go to the My Software section. There you will find your firm s Download code, Authorisation code and the link to initiate the installation packager. Page 10

Should this be for multiple users the location of the file needs to be accessible as this is the place they will consult to initiate the installation process. Page 12

14 Step 8: Double click on the Setup file. This will initiate the CaseWare Working Papers Setup Wizard. You can also right click and select Open. Note, there can sometimes be a delay after double clicking on the Setup file. Kindly wait 5 seconds before you double click again. Step 9: The welcome screen appears. Click on the Next button to proceed. Page 13

Notice that the Next button only appears once a valid address is supplied. Step 12: Ensure that all your products and templates are selected. Then click on Install. Page 14

Site licenses therefore make use of a single Authorisation code for your entire firm. You will not need to have different authorisation codes for each of your firm s CaseWare user s.

Site licenses therefore make use of a single Authorisation code for your entire firm. You will not need to have different authorisation codes for each of your firm s CaseWare user s. As a result, this reduces complexity and will make tracking easier as you do not need to track each Authorisation code associated with a specific user s PC. License Revocation - What if you need a CaseWare license to a new user or new PC The License Revocation process has been implemented to allow for CaseWare licenses to be returned to the license

It is also applicable in the event that a client needs to reduce their license count or when staff resign or join your team and the license needs to be transferred to a new user.

19 License Revocation - What if you need a CaseWare license to a new user or new PC The License Revocation process has been implemented to allow for CaseWare licenses to be returned to the license server where they can either be reused or cancelled. It is also applicable in the event that a client needs to reduce their license count or when staff resign or join your team and the license needs to be transferred to a new user. Before making infrastructure changes in your firm, we recommend revoking licenses from any PCs of a user that could be affected. These environmental changes could invalidate the PCs affected and require re-registration. Changes that could trigger this include Domain membership changes, computer name changes, and reimaging/republishing of PC images. To begin the revocation process; on the Tools tab, in the Licensing group, click Licensing Revoke License or press Ctrl+Shift+R to open the License Revocation Wizard. Alternatively, you can find the option under the file view: Page 18

of revoking the current license. Click Next to proceed. 2.
