3 1. Introduction 1.1. Overview Starting 1Q 2009, the TestDrive Data 2 solution has been split into two individual products. The Test Executive portion of TestDrive Data 2 solution has been separated and named as TestDrive II. It retains the look and feel of its predecessor. The Data Test Packs portion of TestDrive Data 2 solution has been packaged as Spirent Data. Spirent Data supports all the test packs that were part of former TestDrive Data 2 solution. The test executive TestDrive II needs to be installed for Spirent Data to run. This document contains the Installation Instructions and List of new features, enhancements and known issues for Spirent Data v2.91. A detailed release notes is available for your review at \Program Files\Spirent Communications\TestDrive II\Release Notes directory, once you install the product Applicability This document is applicable to the following products: DATA-1X-TP1 DATA-DO-TP1 DOrB DATA TP1 DATA-DOrA-TP1 DATA-DOrA-RxDIV DATA-1X-TP2 DATA-DO-TP2 DATA-1X-TP4 DATA-DO-TP4 MIP-1X-TP1 MIP-DO-TP1 NOTE: Data Throughput tests with HTTP protocol are no longer supported. Support for these tests has been removed.

Rebooting the SR5500 fixes the problem. 1x bi-directional FTP Data Throughput tests are not supported with a Windows XP (Client PC) + Windows 2008 Server (Application Server) combination.

AirAccess C2K Spirent Data version 2.91 is compatible with AirAccess C2K version 4.40 software or higher Apex Data Client This release of Spirent Data is compatible with Apex Data Client version 1.80 or higher. The test solution may exhibit erroneous behavior if this version of Apex Data Client is not installed. For instructions on installing the correct version of Data Client, refer to Section 3.5 on page 6. In general, Spirent Data software is not compatible with TAS3460 Network Emulator hardware and AirAccess software version 2.83 or earlier TestDrive II This release of Spirent Data is compatible with TestDrive II version 1.80 or higher. The test solution may exhibit erroneous behavior if this version of TestDrive II is not installed. For instructions on installing the correct version of TestDrive II, refer to Section 3.3 on page UDM V2 This release of Spirent Data is compatible with UDM V2 version 4.70 or higher. If you have not already upgraded to this version, follow the upgrade instructions in the UDM V2 Product Update. NOTE: UDMv2 software does not need to be installed on the Controller PC. The UDM software and hard-key (dongle) needs to be present on the Client Laptop only.

6 4 Spirent Data: Product Update 2.5. SR5500 Wireless Channel Emulator This release of Spirent Data is compatible with SR5500 Wireless Channel Emulator Control Software TestKit v3.20 or higher. If you have not already upgraded to this version, follow the upgrade instructions in the SR5500 TestKit Product Update. To ensure continued compatibility of all software and firmware components, refer to the instructions in Chapter 3 of this document Agilent IO Libraries This release of Spirent Data is compatible with Agilent IO Libraries version 16.0 or higher. For instructions on installing the correct version of Agilent IO Libraries, refer to Section 3.6 on page Development Library Service Spirent Data version 2.91 is compatible with Development Library Service 1.50 or higher. For instructions on installing the correct version of Development Library Service, refer to Section 3.8 on page 9. NOTE: If SR8078 is present in System, then the Development Library Service needs to be installed on Controller PC TCU2 Driver Spirent Data version 2.91 is compatible with TCU2 Driver or higher. For instructions on installing the correct version of TCU2 Driver, refer to Section 3.9 on page 9. NOTE: If SR8078 is present in System, then the TCU2 Driver needs to be installed on Controller PC C2K Only Platform Spirent Data version 2.91 is compatible with 8100-C2K Only Platform 1.0 or higher. For instructions on installing the correct version of 8100-C2K Only Platform, refer to Section 3.10 on page 10. NOTE: If SR8078 is present in system and SR8078 calibration is performed through the 8100-C2K Only Platform (through Test Manager), then the 8100-C2K Only Platform needs to be installed on Controller PC.

Overview This release has been placed on the Spirent Customer Service Center website: Enter the address and password assigned to you by Spirent to log in to the Members section. Go to the: Self Service Tools>Download Software Updates>Wireless Applications>APEX C2K: Signaling Conformance Test Platform System Software - Spirent Data link to access the latest release. NOTE: If you have forgotten your password or do not have a login for the Customer Server Center website logon, click the Forgot Your Password? or New User link on the main Customer Service Center webpage. To properly install Spirent Data v2.91, perform all of the steps in the following sections. WARNING: Ensure that you have reviewed the relevant Known Issues in Section 1.6 on page 2 of this document before proceeding Downloading the Software To download the current software packages: 1. Log into the Spirent Customer Service Center website using the login and password provided to you by your Spirent representative. 2. Download the software from the latest release by selecting Self Service Tools>Download Software Updates>Wireless>CDMA2000 Test System Software - Spirent Data. 3. Download the compatible TestDrive II and Apex Data Client software. a. For TestDrive II, go to: Self Service Tools>Download Software Updates>Wireless>TestDrive II Test Executive for Spirent Data and Spirent SC. b. For Apex Data Client, go to: Self Service Tools>Download Software Updates>Wireless>Data Client Software for Spirent Data and Spirent SC - Spirent Data. 4. The packages downloaded from the Customer Service Center website are selfextractable zip files. Extract the software installation files in the packages to a known location on your hard drive.

8 6 Spirent Data: Product Update 3.3. Installing TestDrive II on the Controller PC To install the current version of the TestDrive II application software: 1. Remove any previous versions of TestDrive II by selecting Start>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs. 2. If you have downloaded the package from browse to the location on your hard drive where you extracted the image. If you are using the CD, browse to the root folder on the CD. 3. From the extracted install image or the CD, highlight the Spirent TestDrive II.msi installer application and right-click the Install button. 4. Click the Next button to proceed through the default installation configuration. 5. After the files have been copied, click the Finish button to complete the installation Installing Spirent Data on the Controller PC To install the correct version of Spirent Data software: 1. Remove any previous versions of Spirent Data by selecting Start>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs. 2. If you have downloaded the package from browse to the location on your hard drive where you extracted the image. If you are using the CD, browse to the root folder on the CD. 3. From the extracted install image or the CD, highlight the setup.exe file to begin the installation. 4. Click the Next button to proceed through the default installation configuration. 5. After the files have been copied, click the Finish button to complete the installation Installing Apex Data Client on Client Laptop and Application Server To install the correct version of Apex Data Client software: 1. Remove any previous versions of Apex Data Client by selecting Start>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs. 2. If you have downloaded the package from browse to the location on your hard drive where you extracted the image. If you are using the CD, browse to the root folder on the CD. 3. From the extracted install image or the CD, highlight the Apex Data Client.msi installer application and right-click the Install button.

9 Spirent Data: Product Update 7 4. Click the Next button to proceed through the default installation configuration. 5. After the files have been copied, click the Finish button to complete the installation. To install the Apex Data Client software on the Application Server (SR3920): Note that Apex Data Client must be installed on the Application Server in order to copy the test files in the appropriate folders. Failing to install appropriate version of Apex Data Client on the application server will result in test case failures. 1. Copy the Apex Data Client.msi file from the install image or CD to a USB flash drive. 2. Remotely log on to the application server (IP Address: ) from the Controller PC using the Windows Remote Desktop Connection utility. 3. Enter the following credentials to log in: Username: Administrator Password: Sp!rent 4. Connect the USB flash drive to the Application Server. Highlight the Apex Data Client.msi installer application from the USB flash drive File Explorer and right-click the Install button. 5. Click the Next button to proceed through the default installation configuration. 6. After the files have been copied, click the Finish button to complete the installation. NOTE: Installing a version of Apex Data Client that does not match the Spirent Data version could result in test failures Installing Agilent IO Libraries NOTE: This section is applicable if only you have SR5078 or SR8078 present and connected in the APEX-C2K (or C2K-ATS) system. Spirent Data uses Agilent Power Sensor (Model: U2001A) to perform System Calibration when SR5078 or SR8078 is present in the system. Before performing the calibration, ensure that the Agilent IO Libraries are installed on the Controller PC. To install the Libraries, use the Agilent IO Libraries Suite 16.0 CD supplied with the Agilent Power Sensor. You can also download the software from the Agilent Support website: &ltype=External%20File

Installing Windows2003 Server Patch for the SR3920 NOTE: This section is applicable if you need EV-DO RevB Data Throughput and use Windows 2003 Server on the SR3920 with the APEX-C2K (or C2K-ATS) system. To install the Windows 2003 Patch on the SR3920: 1. Navigate to the folder where you extracted the Spirent Data installation files. If you are using the CD, navigate to the root directory of Spirent Data CD. 2. Double-click on Bcom_LAN_14.2.x_W2K3_8_A03.exe to extract the files. 3. Begin the installation by navigating to C:\Broadcom\Driver_Management_Apps_Installer and running the setup.exe file. 4. Click the Next buttons to proceed through the default installation configuration. 5. Click the Finish button to complete the installation. 6. Navigate to the folder where you extracted the Spirent Data installation files. If you are using the CD, navigate to the root directory of Spirent Data CD. 7. To start the installation, double-click the NETW_FRMW_WIN_R exe file. 8. Click the Next button to proceed through the default installation configuration. 9. Click the Finish button to complete the installation 10. Navigate to the folder where you extracted the Spirent Data installation files. If you are using the CD, navigate to the root directory of Spirent Data CD. 11. To start the installation, double-click the WindowsServer2003-KB x86- ENU.exe file. 12. Click the Next button to proceed through the default installation configuration. 13. Click the Finish button to complete the installation. 14. Reboot the SR3920 unit.

11 Spirent Data: Product Update Installing Development Service Library on the Controller PC To install the current version of the Development Service Library software: 1. Remove any previous versions of Development Service Library by selecting Start>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs. 2. If you have downloaded the package from browse to the location on your hard drive where you extracted the image. If you are using the CD, browse to the root folder on the CD. 3. From the extracted install image or the CD, highlight the DLSInstaller.msi installer application and right-click the Install button. 4. Click the Next button to proceed through the default installation configuration. 5. After the files have been copied, click the Finish button to complete the installation Installing TCU2 Driver on the Controller PC To install the current version of the TCU2 Driver software: 1. Remove any previous versions of Development Service Library by selecting Start>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs. 2. If you have downloaded the package from browse to the location on your hard drive where you extracted the image. If you are using the CD, browse to the root folder on the CD. 3. From the extracted install image or the CD, highlight the TCU2WrapperInstall.msi installer application and right-click the Install button. 4. Click the Next button to proceed through the default installation configuration. 5. After the files have been copied, click the Finish button to complete the installation.

12 10 Spirent Data: Product Update Installing 8100-C2K Only Platform on the Controller PC To install the current version of the 8100-C2K Only Platform software: 1. Remove any previous versions of Development Service Library by selecting Start>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs. 2. If you have downloaded the package from browse to the location on your hard drive where you extracted the image. If you are using the CD, browse to the root folder on the CD. 3. From the extracted install image or the CD, highlight the 8100-C2K Only Platform.msi installer application and right-click the Install button. 4. Click the Next button to proceed through the default installation configuration. 5. After the files have been copied, click the Finish button to complete the installation.

13 Spirent Data: Product Update Configuration 4.1. Disabling Microsoft Update After installing Microsoft Security Essentials, Microsoft Update is enabled by default. Microsoft Update must be disabled on 8100 systems Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 If you are running Windows XP or Windows Server 2003, perform the following steps for both the Controller PC and/or the Client Laptop. 1. Select Start>Control Panel>Performance and Maintenance>System. The System Properties window displays. 2. Under the Automatic Updates tab, select the Turn off Automatic Updates option, as shown in Figure 4-1.

Click OK to save the changes and exit the window Windows 7 If you are running Windows 7, perform the following steps for both the Controller PC and/or the Client Laptop. 1. Select Start>Control Panel>System and Security>Windows Update>Change Settings. The Windows Update Change Settings window displays. 2. Under the Important Updates section, select Never check for updates, as shown in Figure 4-2.

Click to turn on. message displays on the desktop, ignore it Windows Server 2008 If you are running Windows Server 2008 on the Application Server, perform the following steps. 1. Select Start>Control Panel>System and Maintenance>Windows Update>Change Settings. The Change Settings window displays. 2. Under the Important Updates section, select Never check for updates, as shown in Figure 4-3.
