4 Introduction The OnTarget Data Access (OTDA) version 3.x Client tool enables school and district personnel to create and upload files for High Stakes Management progress reporting as well as all of the necessary data files for inclusion in an OnTarget Analysis. This document lists the system requirements for installing the OTDA tool, and it also describes the step-by-step process for installing the tool on your system. Prior to Installation Installation Requirements NOTE: The OTDA tool needs to be installed on one Windows workstation with Internet access or an SMe Windows server (Mac users). If the tool is to be used for exporting SuccessMaker Enterprise (SMe) data, the workstation must also be connected to an SMe server or installed directly on a SMe server. Before installing the OTDA tool, verify the following: You have the latest version of the OTDA Client version 3.x executable file (.exe file) downloaded on your workstation. You are installing this tool on a Windows workstation or server. If installing on a Windows workstation, you have Microsoft Windows 98 or later operating systems. You have 75 MB free hard disk space available on the computer to which you are installing the tool. You have Internet access on your workstation. To export SMe data, your workstation or SMe server is connected to the SMe database through a mapped network drive. To export SMe data, your SMe database is running. 5 Installation Installing the OTDA Tool with Export SMe Data Option Enabled NOTE: Choose this install option if you will be using this workstation to create export files from an SMe database. To install the OTDA tool, you must complete the following steps: 1. Double-click the OTDAv3.x executable file (.exe). The Welcome page appears. NOTE: If you already have a previous version of the OTDA application installed, you will be asked if you want to remove it. If you click Yes, all its features will be removed and you will have to start the installation wizard again. 2. Click Next. The Select Type of Installation page appears, Select Yes. 3. Click Next. The Choose Destination page appears. For destination other than C drive, click Browse and select. NOTE: An OTDA folder will be created in the folder that you select. For example, if You select C:\MyDocuments, the OTDA tool will be stored in the C:\MyDocuments\OTDA folder. 4. Click Next. The Select SuccessMaker Drive page appears. Click the drive, mapped to the database, from where you want to export the data. 5. Click Next. A message appears indicating that the installer is checking the status of your Sybase service. NOTE: If the installer is unable to detect the Sybase service such as SM v5.x sites, it displays a message and prompts you to select whether you want to continue with the installation without exporting data from SMe. If you select Yes, it continues with the installation for SM v5.x users. Click No to stop the installation. The Setup Not Completed page appears. Click Finish. 6. If the Sybase service is running, the installation process is initiated. The Setup Status page displays the progress of the installation. 7. Upon successful copying of the required files, a message appears indicating that the installer is updating the database. 8. The Install Complete page appears. Click the check box if you want to launch the OTDA application upon exiting or click Finish to exit the wizard. NOTE: You will now have an OTDA Client Application icon on your desktop. 6 OTDA Application Access Requirement For OTDA SMe client application, the database service needs to be running whenever the tool is accessed for extracting data from the SuccessMaker Enterprise database. Installing the OTDA Tool with Export SMe Data Option Disabled NOTE: Choose this install option if you will NOT be using this workstation to create export files from an SMe database. This installation is for scrubbing high-stakes files and uploading files to Pearson Digital Learning only. Users with SuccessMaker v5.x should choose this option. To install the OTDA tool, you must complete the following steps: 1. Double-click the OTDAv3.x executable file (.exe file). The Welcome page appears. NOTE: If you already have the OTDA application installed, you will be asked if you want to remove it. If you click Yes, all its features will be removed and you will have to start the installation wizard again. 2. Click Next. The Select Type of Installation page appears, Select No. 3. Click Next. The Choose Destination page appears. NOTE: An OTDA folder will be created in the folder that you select. For example, if you select C:\MyDocuments, the OTDA tool will be stored in the C:\MyDocuments\OTDA folder. 4. Click Next. The Setup Status page appears with a message indicating that the installation is in progress. 5. The Install Complete page appears. Click the check box if you want to launch the OTDA application upon exiting or click Finish to exit. NOTE: You will now have an OTDA Client Application icon on your desktop.
