1 ipad Testing Guide OVERVIEW The CWRA+ ipad App is available at no charge through the Apple App Store. Students will need the ability to download apps through the store. In order to take the CWRA+ on an ipad, a Bluetooth keyboard must be connected and Guided Access must be enabled. Like the Secure Browser, the App is used for both CLA+ and CWRA+ and is double branded to reflect this. PRIOR TO TESTING 1. Download the CWRA+ app from the Apple App store. 2. Run Test Simulation on your ipad to test your wireless network. 3. Guided Access may be set up prior to testing and then activated on the day of testing. ON THE DAY OF TESTING 1. Have students download and launch the app from the Apple App Store. 2. The Proctor(s) will create a test session through the Proctor Interface at 3. Have students verify that a Bluetooth keyboard is detected by clicking on Verify Readiness. 4. Have students enable Guided Access by triple clicking the home button. 5. To begin, students will go to Take a Proctored Test and type in the provided Test Session number. 6. Proctors will need to approve students into the test as they complete login. 2 THE CWRA+ IPAD APP FOR TESTING After the app has been installed, locate the app icon (shown below) and launch. On the Home page you will see four features: Verify Readiness: Confirms whether the ipad is ready to be used to take CWRA+ and run a simulation. Take a Sample Test: Provides an overview of the testing environment. About CLA+ and CWRA+: Explains the CWRA+ and its college-level counterpart, CLA+. Take a Proctored Test: Allows students to launch the test. 2

3 VERIFY READINESS From the Verify Readiness screen you have the ability to Launch a Test Simulation and view instructions on activating your Bluetooth keyboard and Guided Access. On this page you will also be able to verify whether a Bluetooth keyboard is detected and if Guided Access is active. 3

4 Launch Test Simulation The Launch Test Simulation tests the capacity of the network that will be used during ipad testing. If you experience issues during the simulation, you should limit the number of students testing on the network or contact your IT group for assistance. Bluetooth Keyboard Instructions This page provides instructions on pairing a Bluetooth keyboard with an ipad. 4

5 Secure Test Delivery Configuration The Secure Test Delivery Configuration page walks you through the process of configuring and enabling Guided Access. This ensures that the security of the CWRA+ is not compromised. Guided Access may be turned off after testing is complete. Guided Access disables the ipad s Home button. It may be configured prior to testing by following the instructions on this page. After it has been configured, you may enable it within the app by triple clicking the Home button. After testing is complete it may be disabled by triple clicking the Home button and inputting the preset 4 digit passcode. Select End on the upper left hand corner of the screen. 5

6 TAKE A SAMPLE TEST This feature will familiarize you with taking a test on an ipad. NOTE: Your Bluetooth Keyboard must be paired with your ipad to take the Sample Test. 6

8 TAKE A PROCTORED TEST Once you are ready to take the proctored tests, select Take a Proctored Test from the app home page. NOTE: Your Bluetooth Keyboard must be paired with your ipad and Guided Access must be enabled in order to take a proctored test. 1. Select the Take a Proctored Test button on the Home page. The app will navigate the students to the Session Login page. Note: The login process is identical to taking the proctored tests on a PC or Mac. Tests are proctored on ipad the same way as on PCs or Macs. Log onto the CWRA+ administrator site and go to the Test Delivery component to create a session and approve students for testing. 2. When a student has completed a proctored test, they will be taken back to the app Home page. To disable Guided Access, proctors will triple-click the Home button, enter the 4 digit passcode and select End on the upper left hand corner. The student can then click the Home button to close the app. You may also turn off Guided Access completely by going to Settings > General > Accessibility > Guided Access. Turn off Guided Access. 8
