Overview Enterprise Edition V8.5.1 provides a single, consistent interface into disparate repositories, providing a complete platform for deploying applications that span multiple content sources. Description Enterprise Edition V8.5.1 introduces new capabilities in the areas of SOA, integration, performance, and consumability. SOA capabilities that were first introduced in Enterprise Edition V8.5 have been extended in Version to include support for Create, Update, and Delete functions. This completes the basic set of SOA functions for which the customer base has been asking for, including availability of high-level services such as those provided by the SOA interface. Performance and scalability improvements have been made in area of P8 source repository support. Integration with P8 Records Manager has been enhanced, now providing security controls and records lockdown for P8 source repositories. Numerous features have been added that improve the overall consumability of the product, including: Support for remote EJB Connector Deployment, which increases flexibility for connector deployment, reducing complexity of the Enterprise Edition V8.5.1 offering Improved time zone support for distributed systems Increased consumability by other IBM ECM products and product capabilities, such as WEBi and the Content Federation Services feature within IBM FileNet Content Manager V4.5.1 Maintaining release currency with supported content repositories and with CFSsupported repositories Accessibility by people with disabilities A U.S. Section 508 Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) can be requested via the IBM Web site Product positioning Customers faced with content silos in multiple repositories can take any or all of three approaches: Use (to provide what may be called a "content integration" solution), where all repositories can be accessed, resulting in bidirectional, realtime access to the content in each repository. 4 Technical information Specified operating environment Hardware requirements The exact hardware configuration to support a specific environment with satisfactory performance varies, depending on the distribution of the software components, the of documents to be accessed, the types of systems being accessed, the application requirements, server workload, the of users, and other factors. The minimum hardware requirements for are defined by the supported operating system. Refer to the Software requirements section for supported operating systems, with additional minimum hardware requirements noted below: When running on Windows or Linux in a 32-bit Intel environment, an Intel Pentium or AMD Athlon CPU is required. When running in a Solaris environment, an UltraSparc CPU is required. Memory requirement The following table shows the minimum recommended memory for installation in megabytes (MB). With sub-capacity licensing, customers can license for less than the total of processor cores on the server (full capacity), provided they are using an eligible virtualization technology, and they have agreed to the terms of the offering, per the Web site below. To offer sub-capacity licensing, IBM software products implement IBM License Metric Tool within their offerings so that customers can monitor and create reports on their use of the programs on a continuous basis. Multiple copies of IBM License Metric Tool are not required as the IBM License Metric Tool is licensed on a "per establishment" basis. This means a customer is permitted to deploy an unlimited of copies of the IBM License Metric Tool, only on machines owned or leased by the customer, that are located at a single physical site, including the surrounding campus and satellite offices, irrespective of the server environment being monitored. Your customer can use more copies if needed to support the operational environment, but only one copy is required to monitor all the sub-capacity licensed products. Use of the IBM License Metric Tool is highly recommended for all PVU environments, and is mandatory for use with PVU sub-capacity licensing in most situations. IBM is allowing certain exceptions: The use of IBM License Metric Tool will not be required with eligible virtualization technologies currently unsupported by the tool until 90 days after IBM License Metric Tool provides support for those technologies.
