Planned availability date May 27, 2011: Electronic availability June 10, 2011: Media availability Description introduced basic service-oriented architecture (SOA) capabilities in V8.5, which were extended in V8.5.1 to include support for Create, Update, and Delete functions. V8.6 introduces new capabilities for SOA security, chargeback, and Enterprise Service Bus (ESB). This further extends SOA functions, such as availability of high level services, as well as enhanced SOA security and the ability to offer chargeback for use of services. These enhancements provide you with more options for how you use IBM Content Integrator to take advantage of the benefits of SOA, including easier access to content, advanced security management, and the ability, via chargeback, to offer content access as a for profit service. Repository integration enhancements include event integration, which provides the ability to trigger actions and processes from changes in repository content states. This capability provides tight integration of content and federation processes across disparate content sources. V8.6 offers a of consumability enhancements, including upgrade of installer technology, logging, simplification of administration and connector configuration, as well as currency with the latest IBM ECM repository and Content Federation Services (CFS) releases. These also include updates to the IBM FileNet Content Manager connector API, CFS connector, and Microsoft NTFS connector. Technical information Specified operating environment Hardware requirements The exact hardware configuration to support a specific environment with satisfactory performance varies, depending on the distribution of the software components, the of documents to be accessed, the types of systems being accessed, the application requirements, server workload, the of users, and other factors.
